You hear wrong. Maybe about the "some people want him to stay" part, but he is objectively bad.
Fuck no. He's been a disaster for the city. His approval rating is in the mid-thirties right now.
Uh, I questioned this sudden outpouring of concern for the man, not wishing for his death by a horrible disease or otherwise. I expressed -- however coldly, I'll admit -- that it was strange to see the change in tone over his wellbeing as if nothing had occurred previously to potentially affect one's perception of him
He's a celebrity now and people treat him like one. It's gross.

all you did was express confusion that people would want to see this man not suffer in pain. you literally said you were surprised people want him to get better
you do realize it's possible to separate our disdain for what a man does from our desire to see him actually suffer? That's all people are doing. Saying we don't wish for him to suffer is not the same as endorsing his actions or his policies

I saw an episode of law and order that had a mom with a tumor that kept banging little kids. They determined the tumor was fucking with the part of her brain that controlled her inhibitions and decision making. She had surgery and had it removed...

I was poorly articulating a gut reaction to what I viewed as a dramatic turn around on Ford as a person and viewing the replies as a rebounding opinion of him as a person in general and not the isolated health problem.
I completely understand choosing to, or choosing not to feel empathy for those possibly undeserving.
well in any event, at least we can all agree Rob Ford is a constant source of entertainment. For that alone, I hope he recovers ;D

Maybe if you had some personal and very emotional hatred for them idk.

There was an episode of Star Trek Voyager where they were transporting prisoners and one got injured, had brain surgery and after the surgery he became physically ill with sudden guilt for crime, rape and murder he committed throughout his life.
I wish him a speedy recovery.
That said part of me wonders if this is another stunt. The final day to either pull from the mayor race or to sign up is today. After today the ballots will be printed. Rob could bow out today, Doug could enter as a new challenger. Was this a planned procedure or was it indeed a sudden issue?
He lied so many times already. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

this is my thought as well. the timing on this is just too convenient. the story also came a day after he was filmed fucked out of his head on the subway. im skeptical.

I... don't think the doctors are lying.
Neither do I but Robbie has been in discomfort with this for months. He says it suddenly became unbearable and now it's something of an emergency. Okay. Maybe, just maybe, this date for surgery was planned instead.

Looks like there may be a change in the roster. If Robbie runs in Etobicoke then the young and unknown Micheal Ford is off the hook. Rob can probably still win Etobicoke, probably not the city, and Doug wants out anyway but after everything he's done why not see the race until the end. Who knows, he may get lucky and after all they have spent around 1.3 million on this race.
This way everything is going to work out swell for the Fords.

So what you're saying is that Rob Ford is literally gambling his life to become Mayor? How did he know in advance the tumor was treatable?
Foresight is not exactly his forte.
I believe the tumour emergency is genuine but I don't blame anyone for questioning it at all. After the man has lied so many times about so many things, he's developed a serious case of boy who cried wolf syndrome in everyone's eyes.
Though, I also I don't think he's smart enough to concoct this grand scheme either

His brother has until 2pm TODAY to announce that he'll run in Rob's place, and that would be a potential disaster, because I have probably the lowest opinion of Toronto's electorate I've ever had in my 20 years here right now, and they may well go for it. I think I'd move, honestly.
