Toys R' Us Winter Clearance Sale

Kumiko Nikaido

Vindication...sweet.
TRU is having in-store winter sales to clear out inventory. Concerning videogames, some titles are reduced by 70% (or even more). Some examples:

PS2

* Castlevania: Lament of Innocence = $7.98
* Chaos Legion = $8.98
* Arc The Lad: Twilight of the Spirits = $7.98
* Siren = $8.98
* Jak & Daxter: The Precursor Legacy = $4.49

Xbox

* Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne = $7.98
* Turok: Evolution = $5.98

etc.

Keep in mind that stock varies by store, and prices may not be the same at every store. YMMV for sure, according to area, region, and other factors. Good hunting! :)

(ps2 prices from my store)
rtype final 15.98
devil may cry 5.98
beyond good and evil 4.98
hitman 2 6.98

is siren worth 10 bucks? i've been tempted.

I just wanted it for the art and as a beat 'em up to throw in once in awhile. For $8, it was a pretty easy buy. I almost bought Soul Calibur II on PS2 for Heihachi, but I didn't play it enough on Gamecube yet to really go buy it again. ;)

Now that I see Castlevania listed though, I'm going to have to go back and see if that has appeared on the table where these others were. Devil May Cry was there too but I have that already.

You would actually be suprised how many decent games are on the 70% off green tag sale.

If you are looking for some cheap assed PS1 games, about every single one is around $3-$5.

Oh also look for games with a plastic square around them (clearish color for PS2, and Blue for Xbox). They have some fairly decent ones in that and I haven't come across one yet that isn't green tag right now. You can get Unreal Championship for $3 :D

Damn it! I could be out there looking, but nooooo... the second freaking ice storm in the last three days has me stuck here.

Chaos Legion still intrigues me, and if it's that cheap, there's no excuse not to try it. I'm always looking for PSone games to add to my collection... 199 and counting. :D

Thanks for the heads-up. Hopefully, if things slacken later, I'll take a look. I need to get Karaoke Revolution Volume 3, anyway. Snake Eater, baby!

Any word if Canadian retailers are recognizing this? I would guess the answer is 'no', but just checking to be sure..

I picked up R-Type Final at my store last week for $15... pretty good game IMO, though a bit slower paced than all the Cave style bullet hell games I've been playing lately. I've also seen Castle Shikigami 2 in stores for $10... worth it if you're into shooters even though the translation is godawful.

It looks like I'll finally be trying out Siren. I also saw tons of Arc the Lads at $10, Maximo Zin for $16, and Castlevania LoI for $10. I almost bought those as well but decided against it. I already have a ton of games I've barely touched.

Does anyone who works at TRU have a list of the items that are sub $15 now? Our TRU is a bombed out warzone with tags missing for most of the games on the vidpro wall. I asked for a few specific titles (Maximo:AoZ $13 and LaPucelle $12) and they had them, but I would never have known if I hadn't pestered the security booth guy with title after title ("do you have this?"..."well, how about this one?", etc) .

A complete list of sub-$15 titles would be great. Even if they weren't in-stock locally, it'd be a WAY better starting point than the disaster in-store.

Meh. Games for $5. We're lucky if we can find 10 year old PC shovelware for that price. I don't think I've ever seen a PS2 game lower than $13 in Swedish stores.

If I lived over there, I'd go pick up a bunch of stuff to complete my collection, like Castlevania, BGE, R-Type...

Yeah. I just came back with the LaPucelle and Maximo:AoZ.

Be sure to ASK about games they appear to be out of at the security booth because our TRU is just bad about keeping the tags straight, and yours is probably lame, too.

My local TRU didn't have shit. Ribbit king for $10 and wild arms 3 for $15, but nothing spectacularly good.

I was just up at the TRU on Masonic in SF, and this is what they had (well, what I can remember anyway). All out in the front. All in all there were more deals than I'd expected.

PS2: Castlevania, ($10), Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy ($5), American Idol ($10), Siren ($8.99), Beyond Good and Evil ($4), Backyard Wrestling ($5), Turok Evolution ($2.99 - seriously), Devil May Cry ($5), Bloodrayne ($11), The Hobbit ($6), Pitfall The Lost Expedition ($6), other assorted GH and shitty games for around $10 or so.

Xbox: Sneakers ($6), MK DA ($6), Max Payne 2 (??, but cheap) and lots more that apparently weren't very memorable.

Cube: Not a whole lot. I bought the one copy they had of Sphinx for the Cube for about $3.88.

GBA: Karnaaj (yes!) for $3, other random crap including the GBC Powerpuff Girls games in a two-pack for 7.50 with 70% off, so something like $2.

Dreamcast: 2K1 sports bundle (about $5), Bass Fishing, Marine Fishing, Virtua Tennis 2K2 (about $2-5 each)

PSone: Gran Turismo 2, Frogger 2, Spyro: Year of the Dragon, and other such common games for around $2-5 each.

Other random junk:

Lots of those big metal Intec GBA organizers, the huge attache-case like ones, for about $3

ET's Extraterrestrial Organizer or whatever for the Game Boy Color -- a huge pile of them for about 75 cents each.

Siren for that cheap? call me impressed i would love to play that game especially for that cheap. But my stores dont have any video games anymore.

if anyone wants to pick up a extra copy pm me

Damn. Everytime there's more clearances at TRU's, I clean 'em out. This year's Buy2Get1Free, I got 12, another 2 the week before, random ones everytime I visit. I'm out of cash now, but reimbursement check comes in less than 10 days! :q:

Yes they are ! Yesterday, in Quebec City, I saw many PS2 games at 9.91$. Only Mark of Kri looked interesting to me however. The Toys R' Us flyer confirm the clearance for every console, but there wasn't any GCN and Xbox games at my Toys R' Us.

yesterday here in dallas i found:

fire emblem - $15
sabre wolf - $15
sword of mana - $15
denki blocks - $3 (i highly recommend this if you like puzzlers, it looked and played awesome on my ds)

they also had the psOne screen for $25, i may still get that today or see what their price is on the screen and system bundle

for ps1:
syphon filter 3 - $4.50
gran turismo 2 - $4.50

they also had a few other ps1 games that i may price check today

If by some miracle you've never played Max Payne 2 yet, you've no longer any excuse. Great game and well worth that.

Sale is in Western Canada as well. Picked up:

Gungrave (PS2)
Clock Tower 3 (PS2)
Chaos Legion (PS2)
Silent Hill 3 (PS2)
Rygar (PS2)
Mark of Kri (PS2)
Giants (PS2)
Panzer Dragoon Orta (Xbox)
JSRF (Xbox)
Genma Onimusha (Xbox)
Fatal Frame (Xbox)

each for $9.91 CDN (~$7.60 US).

I found out too late about the EB games trade 3 for $10 extra credit, but we used to have a shitload of Xbox cheep titles that had those plastic things around them with the special tag.
Anyway, it doesn't take a mathematician to show that 3 X $3 < $10. Money making ahoy. Plus games like Mojo net you a $1 at EB. And tax will even itself out. (And even more profit since I get my 10% discount.)
I should head out to my other close store after class...

Found Soul Calibur II PS2 for $3.48, so I picked it up even though I have the GC version. Also, they had Samurai Warriors for $12.98. Too bad I bought that at launch, great price.

P.S. Heihachi sucks ass, as expected.

Picked up Devil May Cry ($7.98) and Primal ($4.49) at the TRU in Clovis CA

Everything else was crap (Mojo, Turok etc) or sold out (I did turn down a new copy of Eternal Darkness for $11 though)

I ended up grabbing Primal for ~$5, along with a Soul Calibur 2 strategy guide for 2 bucks. Victorville, CA TRU if anyone cares. They did have a big stack of DMC copies for $5 a piece, which made me die a little inside.

Xbox: Sneakers ($6)

You should all know that this trades in at FYE and The Wherehouse for $27 per copy. I got myself a DS and several games this way before cleaning out all my local TRUs of Sneakers. If any copies are left at yours, I highly recommend it!

I think I'm gonna have to go check this sale out. I haven't bought or played much of anything recently, but if it's cheap I won't mind adding it to my backlog, especially since I don't plan on buying any new platforms for a long time. I would definitely spring for the likes of Karnaaj and Denki Blocks.

I went to another TRU and was able to get R: Racing Evolution (GC) for $4.48 and a PSOne Carrying Case for $2.88.

Basically anything with a green tag has an additional 70% off. :)

You're the one that told me about this site.
What the hell do you have to do to get prices on games? Everything tells me "Try again later."

Picked up R: Racing Evolution on PS2 for $4.XX and XIII PS2 for $4.XX.

I wish they had R: Racing Evolution on GC though. :(

I need to go back and buy SCII PS2 as well.

Brother went to the local Kaybee, picked up Advance Wars 2 for $10, and Golden Sun 2 for $10 for me... Not sure if it's just our local store that's having the sale or if it's all over.
