You are forgetting many others lol including State of Decay 3, Fable, Everwild, The Outer Worlds 2, Awoved, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Kingdom Hearts 4, and many others

R&C is one for sure, although I have no doubt SM2 will be a lot more impressive. Demon's Souls is also factually a true next-gen games, although it could obviously have been done on PS4 with a bit worse visuals (or possibly the same visuals but at 30fps) and longer load times.

But maybe you meant upcoming ones.

If a games gfx settings can me turned down to allow it to be played on a last gen console, I don't count it as a next gen title. I want AI and physics that are planted in game design that jaguar CPUs just can't handle.

not sure squadron 42 should be there lmfao. that shit was meant to come out years ago.

but yeah Hellblade and Forza will be true next (current) gen games.

Graphics alone no longer denote next-gen to me.

Half-Life Alyx was a true Super Mario 64 moment:

True & based. I remember back in the day "Next gen gameplay" was a thing boasted with every new console release. New power paradigms where developers can experiment with new gameplay through A.I., physics, simulation complexity, etc.

Now it's mainly just graphical leaps, which is great and all, but most modern games are still build fundamentals based out of the PS3360 era. Would love a AAA reset. Something like the dogma movement in film, but for big budget games.

I don't think a game being downgraded to the point it runs on old hardware takes anything away from it being "next-gen", most modern engines are built to be very scalable and many "next-gen" games not on ps4/xbone could probably be ported with the right budget and enough downgrades. Is the Witcher 3 an xbox360/PS3 game for getting a switch port?

Graphic quality doesn't matter, we're hit the diminishing returns in 2007 with Crysis.
Half Life Alyx is the next gen-est game.
Skyrim VR with mods can do even more, but in a clumsier way.

can someone tell me whats so impressive about hellblade 2? ive watched this probably 10 times

nothing about it looks better than Horizon Forbidden West or Last of Us Part 1

Things do finally seem to be picking up. It really is unbelievable how few titles have stretched the new hardware out so far.

It's Half-Life: Alyx for me. Everything else feels like games I've already played but with better graphics.

Half-Life 3 needs to happen in VR game form.

When it was first teased I thought maybe..
second showing....yeah not so much.

You seem to only go by graphics. in terms of Scope Starfield imo will be the biggest game ever made and is a perfect indication of what we can get in next gen games from a design stand point.

As impressive as this is, the problem for me is that seeing a floating hand is an immediate immersion breaking.
it is not when you play it
your hands are tracked the arms are not so it would feel less immersive

STARFIELD more next gen than anything out there ! :messenger_ok:
How so? To me it seemed just like every previous Bethesda game, but with more areas to explore aka planets.

For me next-gen shouldn't mean "the same but bigger" or "the same but prettier", it should mean "new and different".
