Trump Fires James Comey

Should mention: The water and Coke order story is apparently from his office in Trump Tower, not the Oval Office.

But the implications are the same. Dude has everything he owns bugged so he can listen in or record conversations. The Trump White House is probably no different.
Bugging himself should make it easier for Russia to blackmail him. Did you know he invented taping himself and getting in trouble for it later maybe

He will, for sure, as long as the ring is offered, anyway. I think it's obvious he's keeping himself in such a position that if it becomes absolutely clear Trump is going down he can easily turn on him and escape the downfall instead of being tied at the hip and going down with him. He keeps saying things like "Right now there isn't any need, but if that changes we'll do subpoena/special prosecutor/etc". He keeps the options open but never commits to them.

In short if he's on a Trump ship, he's standing next to the lifeboats at all times. It's slimy but hey, he is a Republican.

Lindsay Graham has been adversarial with Trump since the primaries. Hes been consistently against Trump except the obvious place where of course he wouldnt which would be choosing Hillary over him

My older brother still defends him as such. Is also a Christian who defended his GD remark in Time. Is also someone who complained about Obama golfing and wasting money.

People exist that can jump through so many friggin' hoops to make themselves feel right. SO many hoops.

I can tell you the hoop to that right here: "It's because he's busy"

Cognitive dissonance becomes necessary when the very structure of your entire identity is built around conflicting ideals and easily-justified hypocrisy.

Graham is against Trump everywhere except it actually matters.

Nobody cares about his bloviating when he signs on to Trump's entire agenda.

or voting against his agenda.

Which part of the agenda ? They dont get to vote on executive orders and he just recently voted with democrats against repealing the obama drilling rules. Im not saying lindsay graham is an amazing guy or anything but hes pretty much veen vocally against trump every step of the way. Voter fraud, friendliness with russia, all sorts of stuff.

Bullshit. Graham throws around some nice rhetoric every now and then, but he's caved into Trump literally every single time it comes to actual action, just like every single other republican.

There is not a single worthwhile GOP politician. And I don't think a single one will vote to impeach under any circumstance.

If you wonder what Comey was up to after he was fired.

This is why I love raw data

https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/congress-trump-score/

Lindsey Graham has voted in line with Trump 95.1% of the time, and has voted in line with Trump 11% more than what was predicted he would based on how his state voted in the November election.

Well sure but did he come out against those things first and then voted for them? The criticism here isn't that he votes for things he agrees with, but that he voices opposition for something and then caves.

The 26 times Donald Trump tweeted about Barack Obama playing golf too much

21 golf visits?! It must be tiring to be POTUS.

Didn't you hear from his tweet the other day? He is a "very active president." I mean, the president said that, so it must be fact.

Golf is the reason his "surrogates can't stand at the podium with perfect accuracy."

Didn't Graham and McCain both voice concern over Tillerson/Russia and then vote for him anyway?

So all those rich people who ran into Trump Tower in the days following the election becuase they saw a chance to profit, all have their conversations with him on tape?

New York is a one party consent state for wiretapping. So what better way to collect blackmail material on the rich and famous? Sheesh.

And of course that means the "wiretapp" tweet was projection.

the man loves to golf, leave the man alone. It's the last sport fat old white guys are sorta okay at.

Darts? He could take up darts and throw darts at a picture of Hillary's emails, Obama, or Tiffany all day. Wouldn't even have to leave the whitehouse or his pajamas to play either.

We are so screwed with Trump and the GOP... And who was the last U.S. President not to get re-elected for a second 4-year term, Jimmy Carter right?

Fuck.

Nothing revelatory, and perhaps posted already. AP: "Clapper: US govt 'under assault' by Trump after Comey firing"
American democracy is separately "under assault" from President Donald Trump and Russia, the former U.S. intelligence chief warned Sunday, expressing dismay over the abrupt firing of FBI director James Comey amid a probe into Moscow's meddling in U.S. elections and possible ties with the Trump campaign.

As Trump works to fast-track Comey's successor, lawmakers from both parties urged him to steer clear of any politicians for the job and say he must "clean up the mess that he mostly created."

"I think, in many ways, our institutions are under assault, both externally — and that's the big news here, is the Russian interference in our election system," said James Clapper, the former director of national intelligence. "I think as well our institutions are under assault internally."

When he was asked, "Internally, from the president?" Clapper said, "Exactly."

Clapper spoke following Trump's sudden firing of Comey last week, which drew sharp criticism because it came amid the FBI's investigation into Russia's interference in the 2016 presidential election. Clapper said America's founding fathers had created three co-equal branches of government with checks and balances, but with Trump as president, that was now under assault and "eroding."

The White House had no immediate comment on Clapper's remarks on a morning in which no White House aide appeared on the Sunday news shows to discuss Trump's firing.
Donald and his supporters have been misrepresenting Clapper's previous statements about the Russia investigation. Clapper's recent comments are harder to spin.

McConnell reportedly thinks Merrick Garland replacing Comey is "a fantastic idea"

Do it. But its not going to stop the Russia/Trump questions. Nothing will but the truth.

I mean Elizabeth Warren voiced concern for DeVos and voted for her too. I guess I would separate voicing concern, which can be assuaged by mitigating factors like in the case of Warren and DeVos, and straight up opposition turning into acceptance without anything changing.

The votes so far from Graham seem like the kinds of things republicans vote for regardless, so I'm not sure it supports a narrative of Graham standing up to Trump with words but then his actions not backing those words up. As far as I can tell the Senate committee is persuing the investigation and doing the things he said he would do, and Warner doesn't really seem like he'd stay quiet otherwise.

I guess what I'm trying to say is the "all words, no action" phrase gets tossed around pretty freely but I don't know if it's really all that accurate or useful in this case. Yet, anyway. We won't know ahead of time necessarily when the time to put up or shut up is coming but we'll know when it's passed.

Lindsey Graham is a,quare right? By that I mean gay.

Cos my gaydar pings every time I see that guy talking on the TV, thought that was pretty progressive of the republicans there.

Warren did not vote in favor of Devos.

I whinny my fervor lowly, for his length is not as great as those of the Hylian war stallions
Garland would be a decent FBI Director. His experience lends him to the position better than a politician, and his handling of the Oklahoma City Bombing was fantastic.

I'd accept him or the current acting FBI Director.

Meaning, we will get neither unless 3 Senate republicans defect, and keep the acting director in charge for now until a reasonable appointment is made.

Photoshopped. Real:

On Saturday at a public area near Trump National Golf Course in Rancho Palos Verdes.
http://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory/protesters-spell-resist-trump-golf-la-47405359

On an unrelated note, are all his golf courses this boring looking? I'm not much of an expert on golf, but it's just some greens in the middle of nowhere with nothing around them or separating the holes, I thought much of the appeal of golf was to be in impressive nature locations to build an interesting course around.

That's looking the wrong way... it's a BEAUTIFUL area.

Shame it's tainted with the Trump name now, I'd love to go golfing there :\

It makes sense with his personality too. He's so narcissistic and paranoid that of course he would bug his offices to see what people are saying about him when he's not in the room.
