PS3 native support is... unlikely. Folders would be an OS level thing, and very unlikely to be a Pro-only feature. I'd be surprised if they mention PSVR2 enhancements at all - they've basically sent that hardware out to die at this point.

Also - if their intention is to eventually ween people off of needing a disc drive, it would make sense to have their "Pro" console this time around skip it. Making this an optional, enthusiast upgrade means they can get away with making it digital only and keeping the price high while saving money on internal components. This is all just speculation, and I'd love to be proven wrong tomorrow, but I get the feeling this will be a digital only device (with optional external drive accessory available).
That's why I just said dream. I'm not buying a digital only device. My PC is the only system I'm "digital only" aside from the 100s of discs I have from my early PC days.

Yeah I wont go all digital either so I already ordered a drive just to be safe

I never keep single player games I beat and will never play again, I want something out of them and hope someone can get a deal on the disc somewhere down the road
Have they got rid of the drive needing to phone home yet?

Look forward to seeing the upgrades. Still, not looking forward to that price. May stay on the PS5 instead at least for a while.
Then again I could use the extra frames technically as my oled is terrible at handling lower framerates so I may bite the bullet on this one. Then getting it may prove to be a problem again at launch.

I would throw Ghost of Tsushima 2 in there as well as I would bet a pretty decent amount of money that is revealed this month running on the pro, likely in the SoP
There’s a lot to look forward to the next 6-12 months that hasn’t been announced.

If any 1P get pulled from this months SoP it means a larger showcase is around the corner. Maybe around Pro launch in Nov

Will be very disappointed if this part is true

it's a 9 minute presentation. there's not really any room to show a new game and new hardware. they need to sell people on PSSR and the improved raytracing. and the best way to do that is show comparisons with games people already know.

showing a side by side of Spiderman 2 where the Pro version has superior raytracing and image quality that looks like native 4k while running at 60fps, would sell the idea behind the system pretty well I bet.
or Cyberpunk running with RT reflections and high image quality... or Alan Wake 2 with RT features... or Astrobot replacing all screen space and cubemap reflections with raytraced reflections at no loss to image quality or performance... and so on.

because the hardware power alone will be a hard sell, they have to show what their concept can accomplish.

"We need to thank you for subscribing to our paid beta test. Upon further investigation, we have concluded that the current hardware is not capable of delivering what was promised, so we unveil the PS5 Pro to remedy that. Please understand and buy our new product. Thanks again."

It's gonna be legendary.

I still don’t see the point of this machine. We’ve barely seen anything next gen only and barely anything taking advantage of the PS5.

What are y’all thinking it’ll cost? I have seen talk of $700 😬 No way on that, but I figured at least $550.

How can they price it anywhere close to what PS5 currently sells for though?

I don't see the point of annual GPU/CPU every year when games don't fully capitalize on the hardware. But they're there.

$550? It would be nice, but with improved features for games and an updated Dualsense? They will push for $599.

$699 for bundled accessories (maybe 30th anniversary plates edition) plus sales tax if you pay that.

Sell current PS5 to offset cost of new Pro. Net cost is far less. This is for enthusiasts.

Nothing next gen? We have games running at 720p base resolution. There is a need for more GPU power.

I hope the PS5 Pro's AI upscaling feature known as PSSR will automatically override FSR and replace it without having the developers do it themselves. And hopefully - cross your fingers - that PSSR is on par with DLSS, or it is as close as it can get.

Checkerboard rendering on the PS4 Pro was great, i have high hopes for PSSR
