If this didn't brighten your day there is something seriously wrong with you.

The James scene was incredible and some are still too stubborn to admit it. So sad.

David Lynch was having fun there putting him on the same stage and giving him the same introduction as THE Nine Inch Nails.

I don't know how anyone that calls themselves a Twin Peaks fan couldn't have enjoyed that James scene.

Yes, it is a very bad song. It always was, that's the joke, y'all. Just yooooou~

So how about Richard showing up in western Montana, that was something I did not expect and not sure what to make of it. At first I thought he was about to have a "DAD!!!!!" moment with Doop, but we didn't get it. Incredible scene though, Doop got that black lodge strength!

I think Lynch genuinely loves that song and the way it's performed and put it in this season just because of that.

It wasn't performed in falsetto. Lynch pitch shifted it into falsetto after James Marshall sang it in a lower key. He had no idea Lynch was going to do this and found out when he saw the completed episode for the first time.

Why he did it? I can only imagine, but I do believe he genuinely likes it.

I still can't believe I made a joke about a James performance on this very episode and it came true.
Incredible.

Great episode. Everything is definitely not what it seems with Audrey.

The whole part in Montana was tense as hell. Boop dodges the lodge once again.

So just watched the episode (turns out it airs after GoT here in the UK) and I've got to admit...

...I ain't feeling it. It's entirely my gut feeling but we've only got 5 episodes left and the show introducing plot at this stage just has me baffled. Maybe it was just me coming straight off a damn good GoT episode but, I don't know, I've realised that I've felt very little towards most of the episodes bar 8 and the beginning. At this point it feels that I'm watching out of obligation to see how it ends than watching because I genuinely want to see what happens to Dr. Amp and his shovels next week.

Sorry to be so negative, I didn't exactly want to feel this way at all.

I do think this is in part a response to nostalgia porn like Stranger Things (which I do love, don't get me wrong). So much of the show seems to be troll like taunting of the fan base. Oh you want Coop to eat cherry pie and drink coffee? Here you go. Here's Dougie saying the catch phrases and going through the motions. You want it to feel like classic Twin Peaks? Here's a replay of that song from the original series.

I'm probably just projecting but that's what I keep coming back to.

Well, to be fair, Fire Walk With Me lasts for about 2 hours 20 minutes or so.
That was enough time to show and tell lots of interesting stuff.

There's still about two 'Fire Walk with Me's worth of time left.

I'm also now totally on board with Cooper not coming back until Part 17/18. My last guess was Part 14 I think, but I'm sure I'm wrong on that. And with the weird ass timeline, everyone converging on the coordinates also won't happen until then either.

I'm really hopeful that isn't what Lynch is going for. Only shitty writers/directors "troll" their fanbase instead of focusing on crafting the best story they can.

I'd much rather believe that Lynch genuinely believed that people were going to love every second of this, because I think that's the kind of person he is. He doesn't seem like a cynical or cruel guy, just a bit clueless when it comes to what people expect out of a story (hence why I feel like limiting his control over the original show was probably a good move overall).

I believe this could be achieved a number of ways.

I think the first 30 minutes of FWWM was a perfect way of giving the audience what they least expected. It was short and sweet, still had a bit of charm, humor and especially creepy moments before finally taking you back to the world of Twin Peaks (seen from a different yet refreshing perspective). Season 3 is kind of just nudging us in the ribs 10 times too many asking us if we got the joke.

The thing is I don't have "nostalgia" for Twin Peaks. I wasn't even alive when FwwM came out; the entire series was something I caught on Netflix. I personally don't think Lynch is intentionally trolling or anything like that, I just wish he'd get on with it because just shoving old characters in my face doesn't excite me whatsoever.

Don't get me wrong I expect the last episode (maybe the penultimate one as well) to be some damn good stuff it's just that right now I'm as far from "feeling it" as Dougie is to becoming Coop again. I think the sudden Ed, Sarah Palmer and Audrey sub-plots in the last two episodes were a sort of "last straw" for me; to be introducing brand new storylines this late into the game just had me sighing more than anything. I found the Sand Snakes plot-line in Game of Thrones to be OK so it's not like I have some high standard for plot progression or anything.

Going back through the episode for clues this time. So Laura put the ring on in FWWM..... does that mean her spirit is trapped in the Lodge now?

Possibly. Though I'm confused as to why she was alive in the Lodge after she died, but Ray was dead after showing up in the Lodge, unless he wakes up later on.

EDIT: Or maybe it's because the ring disappeared before his body went to the Lodge? idk anymore

Death Prophet
I do not understand this Audrey shit.

Also the amount of young women lusting over old men on this show is staggering. I guess they threw Diane a bone. I think her boy toy was relatively young.

Big Ed's a Bookhouse Boy. We don't know for sure if Bobby is, but that shot at the end with Ed leads me to believe he knows something's up. The scene with Norma at the diner could just be smoke and mirrors to make us think he's moping about Norma's flirting and whatever has happened with him and Nadine. But the way he was staring off into space seemed more thoughtful... almost like he was putting some pieces together. The Major isn't someone who comes up very often. Whatever Bobby told him (or didn't tell him) must have him thinking. I could see him calling up Truman and doing a little secret handshake to join them as they go to Jack Rabbit's Palace.

Something else interesting about Big Ed's scene. His reflection does not match the movements he is making during a particular shot of the scene. You can notice a small shimmer to the right just as the reflection changes.

Perhaps even more interesting is that it's the only piece of the scene that glitches. A car even moves in from the right and passes through the reflection as it changes. It has to be intentional.

EDIT: Also, James singing at the roadhouse had me laughing the hardest I've laughed in months. I never seriously thought he would do it??

This third season is the best thing ever. I exploded with joy when they announced James. When people asked why they have weekly Roadhouse musical interludes(which I liked before) they were all worth it just to lead up to this bravura performance. James was always cool.

Liked this week's episode. Almost died laughing at that ending song again with cool guy James. I see you, Lynch.

Eh, someone gave a rundown of locations/characters to expect in the next episode and I think that's enough to satisfy me until next weekend. I already watched tonight's episode of GoT early, don't think I want to do the same again this week for Peaks.
