Twin Peaks Season 3 OT |25 Years Later...It Is Happening Again

We'll see. It can't all be like this for 18 eps. Plus most of the original cast came back, and a lot of that cast was part of mundane storylines. The original series started weird, reigned in, got weird, reigned in, ended weird. There were peaks and valleys. So, we'll see.

True true. I remember in the original series when Hawk was i
n a metal space box and then got sucked into a clock sculpture and seeped out of a wall socket. Or when Nadine walked through a casino guided by CD-ROM graphics to various jackpots.

;D

Oh yeah, I think we're at one hell of a peak right now and that it'll slow down some part way in. It'll still be lots and lots of Lynch fuckery it'll vary a lot I think. And that's good.

I don't know what I expected from a new season of Twin Peaks, but I can at the very least say that it wasn't this, lol. Refreshing to be so surprised by something.

I get the vibe that it's already being reigned in by the end of episode 4

Obviously it's still insane but it's starting to resemble a plot and is the closest it gets to classic Twin Peaks

I think a lot of the trippy shit was just to set the tone for the season and push the boundaries of what they're now allowed to do. Start with a bang and then reel it in to tell a story

Just finished all four episodes. Hmm... Twin Peaks was really the only Lynch piece I've ever actually liked, so I'm not sure how successful this feels to me.

Some thoughts with spoilers for eps 3 & 4:

The beginning of episode 3 (with the blind woman) was simply stunning, though. Some of the other weird shit didn't work so much for me in 2017, but that was great. It really set you on edge.

I am going to echo that I also really hope that Cooper snaps out of it soon. It is already getting old. If it's a thing for most of the series I'll die inside.

Lucy has always been too much for me, and there's no exception here.

Finished the first two episodes, they were great. I'm not sure how to watch 3 and 4 in Canada, so I'll just wait till next week. Till then I'll hide from this thread for fear of spoilers.

Ok actually ONE more thing.
I'm continuing my Twin Peaks rewatch. Found this quote from Cooper in episode 9 of season 2 very fitting, "Hawk, if I ever get lost, I hope you're the man they send to find me".

I don't think the show is going to get reigned in; I expect a lot of weirdness and new characters and settings all the way through with splashes of classic characters and locales that will wax and wane throughout.

I can't believe it's truly back ;_; I only watched the first two as I don't want to have to wait two weeks to see a new episode. It's pretty awesome how these episodes so far have you going "what the fuck is going on?" "what? that's some crazy shit!" but you have complete faith in Lynch and Frost so you can enjoy all the fuckery and let it take its time revealing what's going on. A few things were more or less revealed by the end of episode 2 anyway. Booper is a bad ass and it's kind of fun watching him work but at the same time wanting him to lose and get his ass back in the lodge so we can get our boy back! #FreeCooper

It's amazing every time an old face pops up and I look forward to seeing the rest of the old cast who still haven't been shown yet. I don't know if there's anything more magnificent in TV than to have a beloved show return after a 25 break, one you thought would be eternal for so long and has your hopes and expectations sky high and then it delivers. I get that some will not like this dark shift in tone but I imagine we'll get our Twin Peaks hammy moments in later episodes when more characters reunite. I want Cooper in the Double R enjoying coffee and pie again too but right now this is the appropriate tone with how season 2 ended.

I'm going to re-watch these first two episodes with two buddies of mine I got to watch the show a couple years ago tomorrow night so we'll see if I catch anything new or if a second viewing helps for additional processing of all the information provided. It's nice to have a couple IRL friends to share this excitement with. I can't fucking wait to watch more episodes! In Lynch I trust and.....Twin Peaks if fucking back, baby! ;_;

That's awesome, thanks for posting that as it's been a while for me. I should have rewatched the first two seasons before this aired, dammit. Oh well, that's why this thread will be perfect to frequent after each episode to discuss and see posts like this.

Well I for one
hope the trippy shit continues. The beginning of part 3 with the crazy time jumping melty face woman was some of the most satisfying Lynch material I've seen. Seriously that shit was spellbinding. The black walls, the lighting, the room layout, just Coop's entire journey into those disparate pocket realities before snapping into the "real" one was so satisfying. I even loved the dated cg, reminded me heavily of Lynch's "The Third Place" PS2 commercial. So so cool. Gimme more, and now.

I'm with ya

I just don't expect a season's worth of episode 3.

Fully expecting them to go there again throughout the season, but sparingly

I think Episode 5 will spin out of control again tbh.

For anyone who has Comcast, if you go into their xfinitystream site, they have all 4 episodes up to watch. Not sure if this applies to on demand as well.

I can't believe that in the first episode they fucking mention Phillip Jeffries, I fucking knew it was going to be a telephone call!

It's a shame Bowie couldn't record. Hell they didn't even have the decency to give this Jeffries the accent!

Maybe it's because it isn't the real Phillip Jeffries?

Also not only in that scene did we get a Jeffries mention, but also a Major Garland mention. Pretty sure Booper killed him.

So far so good. Will space myself and watch the other two throughout the week.

EDIT: I gotta say, I got pretty bummed out how the Log Lady was ill. She seemed so sweet while talking to Hawk. I'm glad her actress got to do a bit of the series at least.

I'm pretty bummed that Tracey got killed that fast as well. I thought she was going to be a major character. But nope. Dead. Her actress seemed to excited to be part of the series and she gets killed 10 minutes in lol.

Yall! What a show! Shed a tear for Miguel Ferrer.

Some of the practical effects make it hard to stay focused within the realm of the show but otherwise my expectations have been blown out of the water.

The stars turn and a time presents itself
sounds so meta for the show and it's returning cast.
stop by, Hawk. I have coffee and pie!
Is she talking to the audience???

The
Michael Cera
bit was the hardest and longest I've laughed at a show in the long time. For almost the entire scene.

And
Gordon turning up his hearing aid to exchange whispers with Albert
almost had me blubberin.

When's ep 5 come in???

Lol Did not expect product placement to be in this

I spotted Samsung laptop, MS Surface, and a Dell monitor. Dunno how much of that is product placement. Seemed pretty subtle, and the Dell monitor logo was not in focus at all

I guess these things usually are not accidental but yeah!

I think Episode 5 will spin out of control again tbh.

We can only hope :p

Also,
I think there's plenty of ripe possibilities for it to happen due to the double layer vision Coop is getting from the One Armed Man's transmissions and the Lodge in general. That binary relationship between the two will likely give us a lot of reality bending crossover shenanigans.

In the premiere I absolutely loved the atmosphere in the redneck home, the shots of the silent family members. Gave me strong vibes of the scene in Blue Velvet with the randos sitting around Ben's place. I hope we get more grimy characters popping up like that, Lynch is an expert at showcasing those types.
Also hope we see more of the addict woman with the kid, anyone know the actress' name? I read an interview with her the other day,
has her own show on Vice.

Finished all 4 episodes. I was only going to watch 2 tonight, maybe 3, but the first couple episodes are too fucking weird and interesting to stop haha. This is just pure undistilled Lynch, they honestly just let him go wild and it's incredible.

Just finished all four. What a ride. I could dive right back in, I'm so amped.

Something I caught in episode 3.
The number 253 appears in a previous episode, before it shows up on the girls watch, which seems to prompt the change in the room. I'll have to rewatch the first two to remember where, but I've been writing down numbers as they're mentioned or shown, after the giants opening statement prompted it.

So glad Lynch has returned to filmmaking.

BTW, “Remember 430. Richard and Linda” is not a callback, right? I feel like I've heard a Linda in TP somewhere.

Out of curiosity,
did you catch/recall the time on the Lincoln dash clock during the Coop/doppel cigarette lighter scene? Wondering if it lines up with any of the other numbers.

Yeah, it lines up with 2:53 on the woman's watch (I've got to start labeling where they appear and not just the numbers themselves).

So does the
Glass box
in Episode one, return later as something? It feels pretty important.

Theory:
It's an interdimensional rift generator between our space/dimension, maybe even a tunnel of sorts. The otherworldly thing that kills the young couple, is clearly some kind of lovecraftian ghost monster from another dimension.

Does anyone have a gif of (episode one/two spoiler):
the floor of the red room moving up and down as broken pieces?

It just looked so cool.

I just don't have a way to watch the new episodes over here, but I'm so glad to see that the show has a very positive reception. I'm staying away from most TP threads and such for fear of spoilers, but I'm rewatching the series right now (just started season 2) and rewatching all his films and I'm getting properly hyped up. I'm sure I'll watch the thing somehow, but right now I think the only option is to start some free trial of some unknown (to me) streaming site. But that's only free for 2 weeks, so forget that. I hope they'll release it on Blu-ray not long after the show ends and I'll just get that.

So, is it scary as fuck? Like I won't be able to watch my most anticipated season ever?

I'm single now and I don't think I can handle some silent Hill shit and go and sleep well alone after...

I saw a theory that
it's actually funded by Booper, so that if Coop ever tries to get out of the Black Lodge it'll send him back.
Of course,
it sent him to the space box instead
, so YMMV on that one.

finished the 1st two, definitely weren't kidding that this wasn't just gonna be some nostalgia grab, it's its own beast

Man I wanna binge this show, I can't fucking wait man.....give me all of it.

It's legitimately terrifying at times. Some truly nightmare worthy stuff in there.
