What part of "divisive", "hyperloop is a scam" and "Starlink an unnecessary pollution of earth orbit" did you not get?

" I'll take a persona like Musk over 99% of politicians, celebrities and pundits. If anything, this world needs more people like him. He makes most other politicians looks utterly incompetent, I'm not surprised about the manufactured hate directed towards him. "

Breathtaking.

The patterns are the same. The playbook hasn't changed. Some want to take the cypher route.

Eurasia has always been at war with Oceania.

These things are not mutually exclusive, except for people whose black & white thinking can only deal in absolutes.

Got it. Makes total sense. I guess you didn't just tell every to "just go and fuck off" if we had dissenting opinion. I definitely didn't read that black and white thinking you shared.

Again you don't have an opinion. You're just here to fuel the hate campaign because you've been told to dislike Musk now.

"Elon taking no prisoners is just a joy to behold :messenger_tears_of_joy:"

The way you fawn over him is embarrassing.

So? Approving his decisions here doesn't mean I can't be critical about other things. Also I make the difference between his projects and his person, something you seem to be incapable of.

And here, you are a mind reader around when I did or did not approve of Musk's behavior. It must have been now cause... I dunno, maybe you think I actually use Twitter or something. I can't understand your narrative at this point except to attack me needlessly (and really "anyone who attacks Musk and should be fucking right off").

Turns out all this drama about "disabling bloatware is a catastrophic mistake that'll wreck Twitter" wasn't such a big deal after all.

Almost seems like Elon isn't completely clueless and some of these devs do tend to overdramatize and overcomplicate their work for clout?

I'm definitely noticing a trend with all these vocal [and fired] employees that they're all acting like their work is the most complicated hyper intellectual stuff imaginable as if everyone fired from Twitter is some Mensa-level galaxy brain IQ.

and the guy now disabled replies on his tweet... now that it didn't come to fruition. what a fucking coward.

And here, you are a mind reader around when I did or did not approve of Musk's behavior.

You're an absolute joke:

Musk isn't smart.

Comon. The war isn't over until this thread is done. That's how it works... It's not over until GAF says so.

Elon has been saying stupid stupid shit for years now. This really isn't a new record for him - it's just more clear cut. He's not playing 4D chess, he really believes in hyper-captialism in the same vein of oligarchs and unfettered wealth generation via the CCP. He's constantly praised them... And I don't think he having a lol - he really believes this shit and doesn't see Putin as a bad guy (probably just misunderstood... His follow up to this tweet is just as bad playing the "well ... We can't really know, can we?" Card.

It's embarrassing - but at least he's being clever by selling his Tesla shares for a dead man walking company like Twitter. He's all aces lately.

Doesn't matter how many cars or how many rockets you launch if you're a cowardly piece of shit advocating for the abdication of others freedoms.

Get fucked Musk.

So.... He's an idiot. Reminds me when Bush Sr. Didn't know how to check out at the grocery store, and thought bar code readers were novel.

Complaining about "personal attacks" when you're clearly insulting everybody who doesn't exactly share your seething hate.
Hypocrite!

That is clearly not what I said, but keep projecting. I also don't give a f*ck if you use Twitter or not, that has no bearing on this conversation.

Again you don't have an opinion. You're just here to fuel the hate campaign because you've been told to dislike Musk now.

You LITERALLY just said I am here to "fuel hate campaign because you've been told to dislike Musk now." Like some weird ass conspiracy theory I am a part of and couldn't have naturally come to the conclusions of disliking Musk well in advance of his recent adventures with Twitter.

Look - you're totally rallying around this guy - and you really like him. THAT'S FINE. It doesn't really matter, but you also don't see me posting "Anyone who keeps defending Elon Musk can fuck the right off!!!" and are "fueling a love campaign...". That's all you and whatever defense force narrative you want.

You're an absolute joke:

Complaining about "personal attacks" when you're clearly insulting everybody who doesn't exactly share your seething hate.
Hypocrite!

Also - I am not the one who complained about personal attacks. Someone else did so I think you're confusing me - except you do seem to needlessly need to insult people like the above quote. You probably need to take a breath at this point.

Yep, seeing an ideological pattern. Down to a Bush Sr quip, lol. With all the current year examples in power that you can extrapolate from, you had to dig up that old bag of bones?

Most people getting fired get no warning. Walk in one day to the office, manager calls you in for a 9 am meeting. HR person might be there too. Get handed a letter you're gone. If you're lucky they give you 10 minutes to clean out your desk and take home any valuables and family pics. Out you go. If they are hard asses, they escort you out the door with a guard. If they are chill, you let yourself out. If you company items at home bring them back. No point trying to sabotage the company because IT will already lock you out of your laptop.

Been there with the layoffs from a corporate cubicle farm. The layoffs were supposed to be "fair and impartial based off a points system" of course it was fucking bollocks and I knew I'd be last in first out. So I had prep time, I took every document and work I had and put them all in a password protected folder*, I'd have put them all on a USB stick if there were a thing back then. If you don't want me then you're not going to benefit from my work after the fact. Also in the slimmest of chances I wasn't cut I didn't want to loose my work.

Anyway as I was given my marching orders they asked "Do you have a company cell phone?". If they ask it means they don't know, so I said no and took it and rinsed it for phone calls (When they were very expensive) until they cut the service.

I was put on garden leave and you're not supposed to work but I was down the temp agency that afternoon getting work for the next day so that severance money was just a sweet cash windfall.

Those coddled Twitter people don't know how to play the game and for many of them I guess it's their only job out of collage.

* I heard through the grapevine that my department manager was fucking pissed when she found out and it was well after a week so the network backup tapes had already been cycled so she could not get IT to do a restore. Fuck her, she was the one that made sure I didn't have enough "Points" to keep my job.

I don't share an idolized view for the man, I can't care less if twitter rises or sinks. But there is a prevalent pattern.

Undoubtedly his twitter takeover has ruffled the feathers of some prominent tenants who might be worried about the status of their established influence projection tool, but is that enough to gloss over the rougher edges of the man himself and the way he is dealing with the takeover?

Come on DeepEnigma you really think the "managing by tweet" he's done so far is an agreeable way to conduct business?

You've got the motive for the myriad of hit pieces aimed at Musk. Now, do you really think these articles have no impact on public opinion?
Why aren't these outlets equally as critical when it comes to his way more dubious projects like the hyperloop?

I've already given my opinion on that, and agreed that it can be a two way street when doing so. But the outright scripts of "the man is dumb" "he's always been an idiot," come the fuck on. Just stop people. You're not fooling anyone, especially certain users who have those battles lines that impact their "opinions."

Here we go again. Another vehicle for ideological battles in the partisan culture wars. If you can’t keep it civil and respectful we won’t be having these threads.
Full agreement there, but it's unfortunate for those of us who can and want to discuss serious issues in a respectful way.

Would it be possible to ban individuals from threads more often and only close them as a last resort? While I generally don't like to see people's voices removed from a conversation, I'd gladly take that over people who can't agree to disagree spoiling an entire thread for the rest of us.

Just recently I got into a discussion with someone where I asked them three times to explain where they heard a particular statistic that they kept saying. They ignored me each time, despite me trying to be respectful. Rather than keep pushing or claiming some sort of victory, I just stopped replying to them. It was better for everyone, and better for the thread. It's not hard to just "walk away," people.

Let him have this. The clouds can take one for the team.

If you want to witness real incompetence, take a look at the FTX thread.
Wonder why the NYT only managed to muster a poorly researched fluff piece about SBF who managed to lose $10 billion, while writing itself into a frenzy about Elon's twitter adventures and a handful of fired saboteurs.

Could it be that so many journalists themselves are caught in the twitter information bubble? By disclosing their fake media presence, Musk is basically undermining their hegemony.

While he has had past successes like paypal, tesla, spacex... this whole twitter saga seems like a major stepdown. Enough to call him dumb? Perhaps.

He wouldn't be the first mega-succesful entrepeneur/industrialist that ends up high on his own success.

The thing is, nobody knows until we get there. And I still stand by my assessment with the typical eyerolling hottakes. You can predict them more than you can Twitter's fate, that much is certain.

Better odds than Vegas can come up with on them.

Well I hope twitter fails regardless of who is running the ship. Giant drag on humanity.

He's not dumb far from it. He does think he's smarter than everyone, including experts and can't help himself from talking shit and saying dumb shit.

The man comes across like a massive cunt too.

I think it is time to draw the digital line. Twitter Blue will be out by end of November and I think there is going to be a lot of trolls crying here. Either way when the new Blue comes out this forum will likely be on fire. So in order to try to put it out some gasoline on this fire I will ask those interested to stand up and be counted.

I feel Elon Musk is a great CEO, likely to be better than most that will come out this year. I certainly feel it is the best CEO we have ever witnessed. I also believe the press and tweeters alike will believe this. This puts me in the For camp.

I know there are many who feel strongly in opposite camp. I also would ask you to stand up and say Against.

When Blue is released and everyone pays Musk all the speculation will be over. If I am wrong and tweeters in general think Blue is crap then I am comfortable with getting tagged Owned by the GAF.

However, if I am right and it is received well, I would like to see those Against to be tagged with Owned by the Muskrat.

I would like to make a honorary invitation to EvilLore and Mod of War who help fuel the fire on a regular basis assuming you both would be Against. In the end though, it is your decision and I want to remind everyone that I have an advantage of actually paying for the first Blue.

I invite anyone who seeing someone trolling Musk in other threads to point them here. :D

So its time to be stand and be counted:

I don't do avatar or tag bets, but if I had to guess the wildly unpredictable future of Twitter (truly a fools errand, btw):

Musk brings back twitter blue, which is a moderate success as people don't wish to lose their verification. It doesn't bring in enough money, and he still has to keep advertisers happy. Issues regarding free speech get better, but only moderately so, and generally with no new issues rather than reversing older issues. Maybe three to six months from now some twitter bans are reversed, but no one that would really worry advertisers. Musk tries to make twitter better for content creators, but ultimately the audience just isn't there for that.

I don't think he'll succeed, but I'd be happy to be proven wrong.

Ask me about my wife's perfect butthole
Twitter was never really that financially strong, it was on borrowed time even before the buyout. The financial scenario would have came eventually with or without Musk, especially given tech companies in general right now are going through some thorough layoffs.

No the financial situation they are in now would not have eventually happened without Musk.

Elon used a "leveraged buyout" to borrow $13 billion from banks, that is now debt owned by Twitter itself.

He created a MASSIVE financial issue on his own.. and one with high urgency, because the company suddenly has upwards of $1 billion a year in interest payments to make, that it didn't need to make before. Twitter being the collateral to these loans means... if they can't pay, or if Elon doesn't keep injecting his own cash into the company to pay them.. then the banks own Twitter. There goes at least $25 billion in liquid funds Elon spent buying Twitter along with $7.5 billion or so he got from other investors (although it's not abundantly clear if anyone but the Saudi's actually went through with their investments.
