Musk is still worth over $100 billion even after all this - Twitter will be solvent for as long as Musk has a stomach for it.
He would have to start selling off stock for that. I don't see him giving up his roles at Tesla and SpaceX just to keep playing around on Twitter as it burns.

Now that it looks like Twitter is functioning just fine despite losing the majority of its employees, I wonder if other tech companies will eventually follow suit in trimming their bloated workforce (by ‘bloated’ I’m mostly talking about stuff like HR, consulting, product management etc; the kind of ‘soft’ stuff that has nothing to do with coding or engineering). Facebook/Meta in particular looks like it could lose a lot of its fat too.
they already were:

Horrible choice in energy drink consumption. Wait... is this an ad? 🤭

Redbull is the Apple of beverages, too expensive for what it offers, overmarketed to a ridiculous degree and at the end of the day it's just caffeine. I'd rather drink coffee.

Never understood what's wrong with coffee as a caffeine delivery vehicle. Red Bull tastes like a chemical experiment gone wrong.

Sounds like Peter has a employee turnover problem.
The post isnt about Peter Yang, and the turnover problem being referenced was at Twitter, not the advertiser.

Nothing says you didn't read the article or tweet about the advertisement issues at Twitter like complaining about woke advertisements and other such nonsense when the actual issue being discussed is that their literal account management team at Twitter has turned over at least twice since Musk took over. It's hard to keep spending money on advertising when you literally have no account team.
Yup.

Because terrible decisions are being made? The site is unbanning horrible people? The site is no longer really moderating hate speech and other bigoted content and is instead just not "super boosting" it?

There are plenty of reasons why someone or some company doesnt want to be a part of Twitter right now.
As if any of that never existed before. As if it doesn’t exist on mastodon, or any other corner of the world.

Not to the same magnitude. Not showing to the same large base.

No one cared about mastodon til it became obvious twitter was going to be Elon personal sandbox he'd use to learn code lol

This is how frikkin' uninformed and clueless the media talking heads really are. Why should anybody care what these people think?
They say to give to space to hate, but here they are outright telling you to despise their new scapegoat of the month.

The funniest part is how the media attacks are becoming more and more desperate. They are literally begging you to hate Musk now.

Look at this spineless weasel. Dude clearly doesn't want to migrate, but the groupthink and peer pressure are palpable.

Meanwhile Musk is reimplementing essential child protection functions making Twitter a safer place where it actually frikkin' matters.

I’ve seen a lot of talk around the internet regarding Twitter’s content moderation and whether or not Elon is doing enough, specifically when it comes to DCMA takedowns. The part I don’t really understand is everyone was heavily against it happening before Musk bought the platform. Especially on platforms like YouTube . But all of a sudden, someone needs to hold Twitter accountable for the very thing people hated about what YouTube became. I’m not saying we shouldn’t have content moderation when it comes to legality, I’m just simply pointing out that NOW it’s all of a sudden a big problem that a specific political party feels needs to be addressed. It’s absolutely insane.

Free speech matters, no matter how much of a dirty word the establishment is trying to make it. Absolute free speech being an unattainable ideal doesn't mean that we shouldn't strive for it.

You're trying to hard.

Content moderation has literally always been a big issue and talking point.

In fact certain folks only started complaining about it when some figureheads started getting banned from YouTube and the like.

Keep in mind everyone cheering twitter on now hated it less than a month ago. And it still hasn't really changed since the buyout.

Being banned from Twitter or YT isn't a suppression of speech.

You're always free to spew BS on your own site you made yourself.

Thats what Alex Jones did.

Does it matter? Content moderation is needed i don't think that's in debate at this point.

Twitter isn't the arbiter of free speech. It's a website with rules and a code of conduct. Absolute free speech is a non starter there. The only thing thats changed is whats considered crossing the line.

It was never being flaunted or given the green light before.

People and companies are going to hesitate being associated with a platform that openly allows hate speech and breaks the law.

Nobody is cheering "Twitter" on. People are congratulating Musk for putting the double standard on display.

If Twitter were truly so unimportant, why is the media making such a fuss about it?
Because we all know that the social media platform has a big influence on public opinion making and being ostracized from it is a matter of free speech.

Actually most of it is just sugar these days if I recall correctly. I think it used to contain more caffeine back in the day but has been heavily reduced, at least in most markets.

Red Bull is all marketing.

The difference is coffee is marketed anywhere from dirt cheap McCafes to more expensive Starbucks stuff in a low key way, while drinking a Red Bull is promoted as everyone becomes a death defying stuntman.

The caffeine in both are basically the same amount per serving size. But going by TVs ads I'd bet the average person thinks Red Bull has like triple the power. Red Bull spends a ton on marketing.

Red Bull even says this on their own website Q&A. https://www.redbull.com/int-en/energydrink/how-much-caffeine-is-in-a-can-of-red-bull

How much caffeine is in a can of Red Bull?

One 250 ml can of Red Bull contains 80 mg of caffeine, about the same amount as in a cup of home-brewed coffee.

She's a leftest, and definitely uninformed when it comes to this specific situation, but she's also usually pretty principled when it comes to her support of free speech. I disagree with her about some things, but she's generally a great example of free speech not just being a left / right thing.

I can't see that anything has changed for the typical user except that hated enemies of the left are now being let back onto the platform.

Do you? See below. It's clear why advertisers are stepping away from the circus to see what happens. The admitted lack of moderation concerning hate speech and other offensive content has them worried. Especially since such a policy breaks the law in many places.

I'm so happy you are angry. It means the changes are working, you are a perfect barometer of the type of person that needs to be pissed off in order to know a platform is balanced.

Woke screeches aside, apparently it has an all time high activity and only a miniscule amount of people actually left. I am actually spending time on the platform.

Consider me an Elon Musk fan now.

Angry? I've been laughing my ass off for two weeks watching Musk repeatedly fail in a very public manner. He implemented an $8 subscription that immediately failed for all the reasons that people said it would before it released and cost some companies billions in stock prices which forced them to pull their ads from the site. Then he came out and said hate speech will be allowed but not "super boosted". The return of the deservedly banned accounts is just another negative that advertisers will add to the pile as well. Advertisers that Musk needs in order to just break even on the massive debt he has saddled the company with let alone for the company to be profitable. Not only that Musk has been exposed as the sophomoric dudebro that he always was. The mystique of the genius billionaire has been erased.

So no I'm not angry. I'm entertained lol

You, Toons, Akimbo, and others have been screeching endlessly in this thread about how "evil" Musk is and desperately hoping that the platform dies, meanwhile we can see in your post history you were all pro Twitter prior to his take over because it was ideologically aligned with your world view.

Come off it.

Nobody_Important Nobody_Important lol, you really are grasping at straws. Advertisers are not actually leaving, activity is at an all time high and Musk already let go of 4000+ parasites employees plus thousands of contractors at Twitter.

This thing is going to grow and become so much better. As I said, you are a perfect barometer, if people like you are screeching, it means a place is well moderated. They should implement a similar policy in mainstream media and Hollywood as well. The world would go back to being a sane place.

I have always had issues with social media as a whole. Twitter, FB, TikTok, Reddit, and Instagram all have their significant positives, but they have come at the cost of some incredibly costly negatives. I have said that many times over the years. As for how I treated Twitter before? It wasn't openly allowing hate speech and unbanning all the accounts that were deservedly banned. They also weren't setting their verification system on fire, monetizing it, and then allowing trolls to steamroll the platform with impersonation accounts with Blue Check Marks. They didn't even learn their lesson either because they still intend on pushing it through after "fixing" it. Add to that all his ridiculous memeing and trolling?

Of course I am going to treat Twitter worse than I did before. Because it IS worse than it was before and Musk was advertising that it would be before the sale ever went through. I don't get why that's so hard to understand.

The only saving grace is that the circus is at least entertaining to watch.

Jesus fucking Christ wtf am I reading, mega-corps colluding to deplatform people and push for certain narratives and agendas through mass censorship is not suppression of speech. This is painful to read.
The site has a code of conduct you agree to when you sign up. Is a library suppressing your speech when they tell you to quiet your voice? It's the same concept. Their house, their house rules.

Same difference in the end is it not?

If Twitter were truly so unimportant, why is the media making such a fuss about it?
Because we all know that the social media platform has a big influence on public opinion making and being ostracized from it is a matter of free speech.
The media makes a fuss out of unimportant stuff all the time.

If you wanna make a case for words on Twitter being protected speech then you're gonna have a heck a time convincing anyone that code of conduct are unconstitutional now.

What? Twitter always allowed hatespeech, as long as it was against particular groups. Now *real* hatespeech is banned, while not silencing people for stating objective facts and scientific realities.

The verification system was always on fire and heavily monetized. People were spending hundreds to get verified and it was even proven in this very thread that people were not being verified for political and personal reasons while being DM'd ways to pay employees to get that verification.

It is things like this that you happily ignore to try and paint the modern Twitter as something worse than what it once was - when it is objectively better now than it was. That isn't to say that there isn't a fucking ton of work to go to make it less of a stain on humanity, it still very much is, but better than what we had.

Of course I am going to treat Twitter worse than I did before. Because it IS worse than it was before and Musk was advertising that it would be before the sale ever went through. I don't get why that's so hard to understand.

The only saving grace is that the circus is at least entertaining to watch.

And this just proves you can't even be objective and are letting your personal ideologies cloud your vision of reality.

You will never be able to understand a woman's experience of life

Imagine how stupid you were about playing video games or watching shit like anime when you were 13 and everything seemed equally new and great to your unformed brain, then imagine the entire world is encouraging you to do that and telling you you're already an adult and everything you say is good and valid. That's a woman. They're basically in an involuntary MDMA trip for 10-20 years on end, no human being could survive the amount of frivolous simple pleasure + social reinforcement to keep giving in to the pleasure that women are bombarded with in their youth.

It's genuinely cruel to expect much else from them on their own. It's like trying to talk someone tripping on ecstasy down and get them to be sober and reasonable. Women can literally get pleasure-drunk on seeing bright colors, they see a bitch they don't even like that much in the street and instantly start laughing and screaming with her hysterically. They can cry at a commercial and their orgasms last ten fucking minutes for god's sake. Stop burdening these strange retarded creatures with demands that they be serious and responsible.

Lol I have nothing in my post history that is pro Twitter at all from any point.

Nothing in my post history is particularly anti Elon either. I'm reviewing things as they happen. Which I'm allowed to do, even if you will always be not far behind to shield and deflect from literally any criticism of this corporate running billionaire whos also somehow for the little guy.

No they did not. They banned people for hate speech all the time. I saw it happen. The fact that they couldn't keep up with everyone and only got the big fish or the ones that were reported the most is a whole other issue.

The moderation sucked, but there WAS moderation. Now there is basically none. For now at least. Because that will be changing given that it breaks the law of several countries.
The verification system was always on fire and heavily monetized. People were spending hundreds to get verified and it was even proven in this very thread that people were not being verified for political and personal reasons while being DM'd ways to pay employees to get that verification.
That's a shit system, but it's still better than just handing out blue check marks to literally everyone. It makes it impossible to tell at a glance who is actually a legitimate source of information or some donut that shelled out $8 to troll.
And this just proves you can't even be objective and are letting your personal ideologies cloud your vision of reality.
Please stop trying to drag politics into this. It adds nothing to conversation and has nothing to do with my valid criticisms of what Musk is doing.
