Honestly, what good is creating a thread for Radiohead fans and immediately dooming it to petty argument? Blah, and no one's impressed... well, maybe a few, I don't know.

I don't mean to alarm you but you have dogs on your face
I'm sure you'll never create anything I or millions of other people like nearly as much as Radiohead ever has, but I'm sure you have your reasons for disliking them. Maybe Greenday and their three-chord-per-song music is your thing?

That said, I don't know what these are but I don't like these shitty bootleg acoustic recordings that I've heard, so I'm just going to wait until their next album comes out to listen to anything.

The argument that tons of people like something doesn't really hold any ground in my world. But I understand that they're well liked, and I respect that.

Honestly, it was just a tongue-in-cheek way of making fun of the posts I've been making for the past couple of weeks. I was a pretty big Radiohead fan for quite some time, and I definitely see the appeal.

I won't create anything that more people than the 12 million idiots who purchased the Evanescence record love, but that doesn't stop me from hating them. I think I do an alright job of keeping my hate at bay, though.

PS: Listen to Ween! Even though I know demon's already on that. Thanks, buddy!

But since you're of the close minded sort, the kind that assumes disliking Radiohead makes one guilty of loving Top 50 bands (nothing wrong with that, btw; there are way worse bands than Green Day), none of what I said really matters.

I went to WAGs boutique and all I got was a sniff
I should never really get involved in these threads. The last time I made a thread about a certain band I disliked didnt go very well. I dont like their music, but i respect them because they have managed to gain such a large fanbase.

So has Linkin Park and Creed.

Not to say that Radiohead shouldn't be respected - I just think that's a flimsy reason.

I've liked the majority of Radiohead's music, but from what these tracks are so far it's a little meh. Sound a little too...typical I guess. Standard chord progressions, nothing too new. The next album could turn out well, but this is a bit of a disappointment thus far. I still have some hope though.

I like the way you think. :)

And come on, these are just a couple of random acoustic tracks Thom threw together just before this Trade Justice rally. I like "Last Flowers", though I doubt either of these tracks are any real barometers of what this new album is going to sound like...

Completely wrong.

OK Computer > Kid A > The Bends > Amnesiac > Hail to the Thief > Pablo Honey
Com Lag I haven't checked out yet.

Hmm, I'll have a go:

Kid A > OK Computer > Amnesiac > The Bends > Hail to the Thief

I don't care about Pablo Honey at all. Hail to the Thief is pretty bad.

*bumps just to respond to this*

I think if nothing else, you've got to respect Radiohead for being able to gain such a massive fanbase without ever having to sacrifice their artistic integrity. Even if you don't like all of their music, which is fine, you've got to admit that this is an encouraging sign for the music industry in this day and age.

It's hard to say that Radiohead is hideously overrated when their most successful album has only sold 2 million copies...

wtf you have to be kidding me you have personal webspace detailing all the music you like and listen to? what a joke

p.s. you like a lot of shitty bands

p.s.2 if that isn't your list then i don't apologize, i would simply ask you to direct my comments to whoever owns that page

It's a program that automatically logs everything that I listen to on my computer, and 25 other GA members are using it at the moment. Feel free to join.

Please point out the "shitty" bands so I can laugh in your face.

interpol, one of the most overrated and shitty "new" bands around.

pavement, bitch band who only gained recognition for having a feud with the legendary pumpkins. they suck nuts that's for sure

franz ferdinand, another shitty new band

sleater-kinney lol! all the lesboians and males with vaginitis loved this band when i worked @ a record store. they are terrible

i am cool with supergrass though

I sort of agree with a couple of your opinions. I'm not going to defend the fact that I listen to either Franz Ferdinand or Interpol because I agree that both bands are very overrated and I don't really like either band all that much. I've just found myself listening to them more than I would like recently.

As for Pavement, that's fine that you think the only reason that achieved any noteriety is because they had a feud with The Smashing Pumpkins, but that tells me where you stand on music. And honestly, I can't stand The Smashing Pumpkins, and anyone who reduces a band as great and influential as Pavement to being a "bitch band" doesn't have much of an argument.

Sleater-Kinney's new album is pretty decent, and I've listened to it more than I'd like to admit. They do appeal to dudes with vaginas and lesbians, though.

Uh, that's an Audioscrobbler page, retard. Plenty of people have them.

I don't think it's "cool", dude. I just think there's something fun about seeing your week's listening statistics.

And it barely takes any time to set up. Register, install the program, and you're set.

Two million's a lot!
Two million is absolutely nothing in terms of commerical success.
Ask 50 Cent if he'd be happy with only 2 million copies of his latest
album sold. :p

Pavement isn't great nor influential. Bands like The Pixies and Sonic Youth are still the champs for being the great innovators of indie rock. Pavement's discography is a sloppy, dull, boring mess and I don't like thinking about it (save a couple songs on each album). I really tried to get into their songs, but I just couldn't. Nigel Godrich was the best thing that happened to that band's studio work, but it was too late at that point anyway. Pavement didn't perform at Lollapalooza because SP did. It's nice to know a group of genius innovators of TEH INDIE RAWK couldn't act like adults and perform at the same festival the Pumpkins were.

Maybe they just didn't want to subject themselves to hearing how painfully off-key Corgan is live. I've done it once, and I certainly wouldn't want to do it again.

Aw come on, dude. Next month you'll be raving about Pavement like it's the second coming of Christ. They kicked ass, and Stephen Malkmus is a genius. I love Smashing Pumpkins as much as anyone on this board, but you didn't even know about them 6 months ago. You're still discovering the 90s, so please just don't throw stupid opinions like this around, especially when everyone here knows you'll be switching sides in less than a year. Stop with your stupid raving about SPs and Corgan, and try something new, we're getting tired of your schtick.

Edit : I just noticed you said "nor influential". God, man, you really suck at this. Pavement is at least some kind of an influence on just about every freaking indie-rock band worth listening to these days.

I still maintain two million is a ton, Diablos. Their shows sell out in minutes and they're definitely one of the most popular modern rock acts.

Most bands dream of their albums going gold - forget platinum.

As for Pavement, I would've just said what Foreign Jackass said. Oh yeah, Face the Truth rocks.

Why argue on this? Anyone who says Radiohead cannot be overrated because it's not popular enough is clearly wrong. I don't think they're that overrated, but it's got nothing to do with their popularity. I cannot state my love for OK Computer enough, so I guess I don't really think they're overrated, but I think critics and fans alike have been way too forgiving on Amnesiac and HTTT. It's got nothing to do with their sales, though, as 2 million sold is a shitload of albums.. You don't need to sell 2 million albums to be overrated. Plenty of overrated artists don't sell much at all, but are overrated by their limited but incredibly devoted following. They're not overrated by your mom and dad, they're just.. overrated!

Hail to the Thief really ruined my love for Radiohead. I can't really place why, but up until that point, I was a hardcore fan.

I'm just saying that Diablos is crazy if he thinks two million album sales isn't a lot.

2 million is a real success, but it's not a monumental success considering how many copies other albums have sold and considering how popular and acclaimed OK Computer is.

I really don't understand all the hate for HtTT.

There were a couple of weak tracks on the album (though, all of their albums - Save for OK Computer - have a few weak tracks), but it was their best CD IMO since Ok Computer.

I've pretty much enjoyed every Radiohead CD...I liked Pablo Honey around 10 years ago. While some might not like their newest material, I really find it hard for someone to say it "sucks".

I guess with Radiohead, I was always expecting something new. Hail to the Thief felt like a step backwards, and to me, that was disappointing. I also found many of the songs unmemorable, and I tired of it after only a few plays, which is something that had never happened to me with Radiohead.
