the fine young capitalists indiegogo campaign has been supposedly hacked and /v/ is raising a stink about it.

this seems to be a screenshot about it before it 404'd

thoughts on the matter? I mean, war against v? same group that hacked polytron that like to see the world burn? who knows.

but since many attribute to /v/ the polytron hacker, I suppose this hack should be attributed to zoe quinn sympathizers or feminists in their eyes right? As I said previously, hackers are deceitful people, dont necesarily trust what they write

This is what I don't understand, nobody was talking about it, the project only relied on word of mouth (and TB also tweeted about it).

TFYC got hacked and as a result they're now selling shirts with /v/'s character on it and the money is going to the charity that Zoe was going for anyway?

Edit- Not to sound like some sort of crazy theorist but the fact that they don't even want the profits to go to the charity that /v/ ALREADY PICKED in favor of Zoe's seems so strange.

at least they were right on the wording in their blog post. they got the password. which is the same that happened to zoe and phil. not the hacking in the style of " carefully hacked a security loophole to inject whatever worm and be able to access files" hacking that people might think.

and about the charity, that's just for the t-shirts. I predict units sales in the dozens if any.
 
What a shame, this was a great campaign
that some feminists, including Quinn and (edit: whoops not femfreq, but some people having an avatar with its logo, my bad), were injustly shitting on it because 4chan donated more than 5k $ to it.

Edited for femfreq (mistake). For Quinn, it was something that happened some time ago before the campaign started, there should a pic or two in the thread about this campaign I guess.
 
Why would someone want to hack and shut down a charity, which is actually helping women in games as opposed to just complaining about the gaming spectrum?

Even if 4chan's motivations were dubious, the fact that they got off of their ass to do something that matters for a good cause was a sight to behold, and the fact that this is now getting caught in the crossfires is really upsetting, especially when it was already low on the radar and turned into something a lot more than just some "get back at Quinn" ordeal. I was really optimistic about it for once.

This fucking sucks.

When the Quinnspiracy drama blew up someone made a post on reddit claiming that Zoe shut them down (without any proof).
4chan and reddit apparently believed it (maybe because it fits their image of Zoe being evil), and /v/ donated more than $5k to their campaign.
That received a bit of attention and now the campaign is hacked.
 
Holy crap. This is fucked up, regardless of the reasons (which don't really justify this at all), whoever did this should be fucking ashamed of themselves.

So essentially /v/ donated to a pro-women cause to get back at a woman they hate?

Thats the thing. It says in the image that they screwed it over just because /v/ (even though it originated on /pol/ and spread to other boards) had a beef with Zoe. They donated to the crowdfunder originally with a "enemy of my enemy is my friend" mentality, but once they had to design a character it really turned into something a lot more positive.

I doubt the person who did this is someone with a bone to pick due to the idea of them supporting a cause though.
 
A shame. TFYC was actually doing something useful, and their campaign got torn down. Anita claimed harassment against her campaign, but this is definitely more severe.

As far as entertainment goes, I'm not sure who's screwing with who right now, but I'm loving the view.

The audio clip goes over multiple things, neither of them pertaining to Zoe really. It talks about certain circumstances in the jam pertaining to why the jam was made to be a contest, supporting transitioning women and also about journalists not being interested in doing coverage on the project since (allegedly) it didn't pertain to a certain undercurrent of oppressed female developers and figureheads speaking about the subject, in contrast to this project being more about just letting a female developer put out a good game.

I don't think it's so much that everything went wrong but that the creator never intended for the project to be a "full-time job". If Zoe was involved in the project going haywire to whatever capacity it allowed then it was probably as just another roadblock.
 
I really hope that it was indeed "just" a hack.
The alternative is that from the start this was a plan to distract people and to try and paint 4chan as fools (for giving money to charity).

More like, it's about removing the monopoly of "helping women" from the hands of "the SJW crowd", as a way to show that disagreeing with them does not imply that you hate women or minorities and so on.

I got the sense that the guy was trying to bury the hatchet by avoiding naming names in his audio clip.

This is what apparently what he said earlier about the events specifically as they pertained to Zoe Quinn. He is careful to say that he didn't believe malice was involved on her part.

The problem being that lots of people will gladly lump you in with the "SJW crowd" if you make it any sort of point to help women, regardless. We're not really talking about reasonable individuals. Or else there wouldn't be so much of a stink about simply talking about the issue.

There is no monopoly on helping women, crusading against alleged SJWs is just a pathetic attempt to frame a desire to maintain a status quo which has a foundation of inequality as somehow reasonable.

If saying that someone like Zoe Quinn does harm to the gaming industry makes me "misogynist", and there's a lot of coverage about the entire incident that does nothing to show both sides of the argument, and completely ignores everything bad that "the SJW crowd" did, such as showing the connection between the journalists and the indie developers, the double standard in regards to things like Max Temkin as compared to Zoe Quinn and so on.
It seems to me like it promotes a world view of "you're with us or against us" - you either agree with everything "the SJW crowd" does, or you're a misogynist, while ignoring every bit of evidance against SJWs, and only focusing on the actually misogynistic, vocal minority.

Please tell us all about the widespread evidence of wrongdoing by Zoe Quinn and these nasty SJWs. And I want actual evidence, not just a series of images with hurried red scribbles on them you found on /v/ because I've already seen those and they're clearly a pile of shit.

While you're looking around, ask yourself why it's helpful to attack people with whom you allegedly agree in order to further your own agenda.

There's apparently been some sort of war with Zoe and Anita? I don't know I wish there was more information on the subject, so much bullshit is being spewed from both sides that I don't know what's real or not.
 
I wonder if this is "the Head Mod of /V/" at it again. It's almost like a Joker has entered the fray. The whole thing, while horrible, has been oddly fascinating in the amount of plot twists that keep coming.
 
Are we allow to discuss this on here? I mean there has been masive bans in almost all gaming sites but /v/ when we talk about this and all the affairs going on in the last 2 weeks.

There is a lot to talk about on this issue that far exceed private life stuff and goes mostly to the core of the credibility of most gaming sites and editors.

I hope the guys at tfyc are ok and can continue to do what they are doing.
