Twin Cities resident here, and no thank you. Please don't host the Olympics here. Can't say I want to waste money on a bunch of abandoned stadiums.

I would be perfectly fine holding some events for Chicago though

Any stats on just how much of a financial black hole the Olympics are?
It varies on the city. Sochi is reportedly 4 times over budget due to corruption. The reason for the Olympics is that even thought it costs so much, it forces two decades with of infustructure advancements into one and with the support of the country instead of just the city or state.

Portland would be a ton of fun, but it'll never happen. Nowhere near big enough, and I doubt we even have the infrastructure to handle it.

Plus, the games cripple cities in debt for years. Hefty price to be a part of history.

Funny how no one wants the olympics at their home town just for the fact they don't wanna deal with traffic. I'll laugh my ass off if Las Vegas even gets noticed. I can see Seattle getting the bid one of these days.

I, for one, would love to see the feel-good vignettes on Baltimore. Maybe they can get John Waters to do the Opening Ceremonies.

How the hell would you even start hosting the olympics in New York City?

All I know is that I wouldn't want to be stuck anywhere away from where I live because the MTA and traffic would be a nightmare. It's bad now but bringing plenty more tourists and the athletes in would bring the city into hell.

Orlando is pretty much the tourist capital of the world. We're well seasoned. No reason why Orlando shouldn't be above Tamps! Now for Jacksonville, I don't know...

Tampa actually has decent venues , Orlando can't host everything at the Amway Center and the Citrus Bowl continues to be an eye sour that should of been demolished years ago. Plus Tampa has actually hosted big events , 4 Super Bowls , NHL All-Star Game and 2 Final Fours.

I don't get why anyone would want the Olympics in their city.

IOC is the only sporting group that is more full of scumbags than the NCAA.

Keep it out of Minnesota, please. Let everyone else have it, we don't need tons of people exploring our state and disrupting everything.

I wonder if San Francisco would throw their hat in again. The 49ers are building a new stadium (in Santa Clara), the Warriors are building a new arena in SF, and if the NBA doesn't bail out on Sacramento, they'll also be building a new arena. That's three new venues less than two hours away from each other.

Funny seeing San Antonio on there I'm not sure what the city could provide tbh. Lack of infrastructure would be a big thing held against us. Only public transport are the buses no subway or rail systems and everything is sprawled. Not to mention crappy hot and humid weather pretty much year around. I imagine it would have to be an indoor event/s, The Alamodome could handle some events as could the AT&T Center. Theres plenty of land to build on. Maybe they could build all of that on the cities south side. They always bitch they don't have anything over there.

Haha Columbus Ohio. Just have it at the Mall of America .. same thing.

You can't find a city in the Western world more devoid of culture and history.

I'd love to see it somewhere in the Midwest. Of course if the Olympics were in Detroit, they would probably host it in the suburbs mostly.

We already successfully pulled off a super bowl.

TRUE. Columbus is the most neutral city with the most neutral people in the Anglosphere. No character, geographically or culturally speaking, or anything.

Cleveland may be the worst shit-hole in the midwest next to Detroit, but at least it has some history. Cincy is great, but ooohhhh boy you gotta know where you are going and how you are getting there, lest you end up murdered.

I lol'ed at Jacksonville, FL. We literally have nothing here except Everbank Field(Jacksonville Jaguars, NFL team). Don't know why they even bothered to ask.

It's most likely gonna go: Rio 2016, Istanbul 2020, Paris 2024, Brisbane 2028, and maybe North America after that.
