Ubisoft reveals ray tracing performance numbers for Assassin's Creed Shadows (DF Direct)

Memory bandwidth has to increase with compute capabilities.
But the Pro only increased it's memory bandwidth by 28%. While compute throughput increased by 67%.
And to make things worse, the Pro doesn't only have shaders to feed, it now also has RT and Ai cores, also competing for memory accesses
Considered the cost and how the bandwith is splitted in the CUs on base ps5, I guess the 28% of increase was the more "feasible" and "balanced".

Nonsense.
based on what is a nonsense? your job experience? It's not a pc. The past generation they need to double the CU to not screw the backward, why do you think ps5 pro is still so conservative in the upgrade? Especially if just costed them 20 bucks more a better bandwith.

Memory bandwidth is the biggest bottleneck for PS5 Pro (outside of 2019 CPU). Console is not exactly very balanced, just like with PS4 Pro Sony cheaped out on memory speed and it was released in "good enough" (according to them) state.

A few things surprised me: The Pro is slower than I expected. I thought it would be twice as fast or take half as long as the PS5. It takes a little under 2/3 of the rendering time. The 4080 is much faster than I thought being over 4x the speed of the PS5.
It depends on how much they wrote PS5 Pro specific RT changes and what they were bottlenecked by… Unfortunately with mid generation console there is never a lot of budget set aside to max them.

~31% here. In ER you can see 6800 that is almost 1:1 match with Pro destroys it in native 4k - probably thanks to L3 cache...
As far as I am aware, there is no Pro patch for this game.

It doesn't matter, patched games show similar results. There are few games (patched and unpatched) that can be close to that 45% in certain sections but overall average across all games is probably close to that 30-33%.

I thought the leaks said 2x to 4x for RT?

For some types of calculations probably, but in overall performance? Nope.

Not completely true though. Callisto Protocol has a huge resolution boost and other games show a much larger improvement than a mere 30-35%.

Gaf can laugh and cry all they want about this game, but if theres one thing that AC Shadows does absolute top notch over pretty much most games, it's the weather/atmosphere and the seasonal changes. This game is a visual masterpiece and probably in my top 5 of all time visuals.

Not true, there's a major issue with the lighting engine. The male protagonists skin looks much darker than everyone else's, I have to switch to the female one otherwise it looks stupid.

It's hard to compare Caliisto when new modes are different than the old ones. Brazil checked unpatched version and got this:

So you are right, games that are not BW limited can go close to theoretical limits. Here we have ~59% resolution increase. This also confirms that native PS5 Pro version isn't really needed to utilize GPU 100%.

It also features dynamic resolution which doesn't work the way it does for most games as it uses the extra GPU power for higher resolution instead of trying to prioritize 60fps first which is nonsensical. It's just not a good game to draw any conclusions as in true Fromsoft fashion, many tech decisions are just bizzare.

The hardware is just a huge disappointment, even compared to the conservative marketing by Sony. While RDNA4 as an architecture might be giving a 2 to 4x improvement in rt benchmarks, the way the console is designed is so unbalanced that, in reality, due to the bottlenecks, the pro never reaches the full potential of even its modest specs. Sony became so arrogant this gen that they decided they could sell a 40% hardware bump at near 2x the cost....even a 20$ addition of an infinity cache addition would have helped significantly, but nope they needed to milk that sweet profit premium due to there being zero competition in the market.

The sad reality is the pro is a woeful upgrade in compute and raster, even in its own touted transformative niche rt its a middling uplift, in ml it's the worst upscaler on the market outside frs2/3, barely any CPU upgrade and woeful support from even first party devs outside a possible 60fps toggle and its near double the price.. for the people laughing at the woes of xbox, they fail to consider that if xbox was competitive and came out with an oneX equivalent than Sony would not have given us this disappointing upgrade proposition.

Let it go all out. Now you are finally free. Anyway it's not the sony arrogance but how the next tech upgrade will work: more AI based less real raw power. Cost are too high and the market will follow this path. Will be real tough the next future for people like you.

They tested in quality mode where game has fixed settings and resolution (4k).

My guy, you don't have to be Sony's paladin for a piece of plastic; they don't care about you or me. I have been an avid Sony hardware user for more than 2 decades. I have bought all the PlayStation generation consoles from the PS1 to the PS5. Even if you are a fan, that doesn't mean you need to act like a blind fanboy throwing shade on anyone who dares question the pro; you can still be impartial and call out a firm when they throw out a bad product or make decisions that move away from the consumers' benefit.
