Time to have have a seriously long think about what a Tory/Lib coalition would mean to me. My gut feeling tells me I hate it, but I'd just be over-reacting and I don't want that.

best thing that could've happened in the circumstances, that's not gonna stop people from being sensationalist morons though. it's pretty fucking irritating to know that he's gonna lose supporters over this because britain doesn't understand the concept of a coalition.

UK PoliGAF thread of abandoning the Lib Dem ship

Seriously, I'm guessing GAF is a Labour stronghold now? Until further notice, I'll remain a Lib Dem.

Still a libdem and proud here. They've hopefully got the best deal possible. If they get the tax limit raised to 10k, cabinet posts and temper some of the raging euro-scepticism in the tory party, I'll be happy. A referendum on STV would've been nice but if they can somehow get one on AV+, I'd be happy.

Cameron being PM kind of feels like your step-dad has returned home from work to find out you've been playing videogames all day instead of washing the dishes, doing homework and cleaning your room. With those immigrant friends you brought home from school that he never liked.
Clegg being the mom that should know better but still always takes his side.

Right, this thread is pathetic.

It's like a labour circle-jerk in here. I'm out.
What? There are several Conservative supporters that frequent this thread. As for the rest pf us, we are allowed to have our opinions you know.

I don't understand the speed of the Downing St. turnaround.

I've seen it before, but still don't get it.

Surely there must be a bunch of the Brown's personal effects still around the house. Or their personal touches or whatnot.

"I can do those things. I caused the economic crisis, I'm responsible for the wars.
Cameron cannot win for more than a year... Britain needs its true hero.
"You either die a hero, or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain." I can do those things because I'm not a hero, unlike Clegg. I killed those people. That's what I can be.
I'm whatever Britain needs me to be. Call it in. You'll hunt me. You'll call for my resignation. You'll condemn me, ACTIVATE THE QUEEN on me. Because that's what needs to happen. Because sometimes... the truth isn't good enough. Sometimes people deserve more. Sometimes people deserve to have their faith rewarded.
"

goodnight sweet prince.
We didn't deserve you. We deserve what's coming to us :(

What does this mean for the BBC now anyway

they've been pursuing a strategy of tory appeasement for the last few days. very aggressively in the case of nick robinson.

Yeahh, I guess.

Just hoping Cameron gets this country back on track - my hopes are up in terms of politics for the first time in over 5 years.

Better than the absolute mess that's happened in the last few years thanks to Labour. It's all well and good for the people who are poor enough to be on benefits, and those rich enough to not have to worry, but for people in the middle like me and my family, Labour have done nothing to help.

Fuck all the chavs, gypos, immigrants and teenage delinquents on benefits getting more money than me and my family do, even though we work like hell as opposed to them never working a day.
...holy fuck. Lemme guess, you voted BNP?

I was going to call you a bourgeois class warrior, but you've done so much more damage to yourself than I ever could.

Love to see camerons face when he opens the books and finally realises how fucked we are, that's if brown hasn't shredded them already.

It's like gordon left him a nice big turd wrapped in a pretty bow.

The amusing thing is that it use to be a Lib Dem circle jerk during the election campaign.

Anyway, didn't anyone hear Simon Hughes on BBC news? Apparently Labour were not prepared to offer even minor concessions to the Lib Dems. And realistically, how could they do a deal with a party who they don't even know who the leader will be in four months time?

Have to admit Im quite happy with this result, especially since I had a hard time with deciding who to vote for out of Conservative or Lib Dem. Just hope that the Lib Dems do get a good say in what happens from now.

Not in a million years. Believe it or not, I'm not racist. And I have quite a few hard working polish/indian friends who I obviously do not hold anything against.

However, I do hold a grudge against the people who think they can leech off hard working people to get by in life by doing absolutely nothing at all.

Well, The bags earlier. They were probably the stuff from number 10 with number 11 being cleared out by the back as we speak

You don't need a crystal ball, you just need a working mind and access to recent history. How successful have coalition governments been in the past, in this country? And that's not even taking into account the continuing economic instabilities. It would be a horrible time to be in government, even for a majority government.

It's better to be hopeful about the situation than to immediately damn it all to hell like the majority of people in this thread seem to be doing.

If by the end of this year, it all fails, then fine. I admit my hopes were let down. But he's only been in office for less than an hour, and yet everyone is pronouncing this country as dead as...something dead.

Christ, why on earth would you want George Osborne as Chancellor when you're in a coalition with the party that has Vince Cable?
