Honestly the characters being at the Marvel/Capcom logo is the only thing that makes sense short of a new character select screen. Those logos can easily fit 2 characters a piece and it will complete the line (Jill, Shuma, 2 Random slots and 4 characters).

I just read Spencer's hyper...since when did he have a gun?

I don't know about OG Spencer, but I thought he used guns too. 2008 Spencer definitely wields guns in his normal arm.

Because everyone in Mahvel-GAF wants more, no matter how much they want to play the cynic or how outspoken they are against things. This game is digital cocaine and the only way to make it better is more characters at this point. :p

This is so true, it's the same with me and all my friends that play it.

But to be quite honest, if it were Servbot in the game instead of Gene, I'd flip a table.

I'm not following how that works with Shadow Servant.

Oh, whenever I follow that mold for "overly obnoxious THC I can XFC and capitalize off of", I try to make the three supers work with the setup looking like:

Fast moving or recovering (Doom Finger Lasers; Dante's an exception although Million Dollars works well for lockdown)/The screen filler (Amaterasu's Okami Shuffle/Vergil's Dimension Slash)/an OTG (Strider's Legion/theory Shadow Servant)

The idea is that when the THC is triggered, no matter where you are on screen or what state you're in, you have to eat the bulk of the nonsense while the character is moving about mixing things up. Shadow Servant would be especially useful for bringing both an OTG to the mix without relying on Shadow Blade assist and having a fast recovery super so you can go in and potentially chuck some Soul Drains amidst the chaos.

Yeah, I know. Second degree brown belt in Shaolin-do Kung Fu remember?

The thing is its such a minor part of the kung fu system to do THOSE punch exercises now in kung fu where its iconic to Karate that its just insulting to throw them onto the character. Horse stance we do like crazy, but when we do it its 90 degree angles on those knees till we get a perfect "L" shape. Karate and especially Tae Kwon Do make a mockery out of what is supposed to be a stance that develops stamina and power in a low stance by barely bending the legs at all. Give him Long fist windmills that march forward through side bow stances if they want a mashable, but not that slop thats become iconic to bastard child martial arts systems. Of course I can't really hope for much considering as Kung Fu as Iron Fist is supposed to be they always treat him as a Bruce Lee Jeet Kun Do tribute so half the time he's doing a boxer shuffle and fencing thrusts like Bruce.

2nd degree brown belt in kung fu, huh? Then you'd know horse stance is in every kung-fu movie ever made, and that Iron Fist is based around kung fu tropes. I learned Kung Fu from this guy's student and karate from this guy's son, and my Judo coach was on the Japanese olympic team, but I don't feel like judging martial arts of imaginary people that can shoot fire out of their hands.

It's not Tengu Stone. Magneto had that same attack in CotA.
What does it look like? I've never played CotA.

This tweeting guy is really putting a lot into this troll. He deleted tweets as to not implicate anyone. Hrm...

Stuff like that has happened to fake stuff too before iirc.

But the thing about these tweets is that it sounds real and fake at the same time.

Its seems fake because its detailed so much, but it seems real because some of the stuff sounds straight up lazy and trolling of capcom

We'd know its real if they gave Zero a sunglasses buff.

What did he delete?

in speaking with seth (who was still at capcom!), work on uncanny didnt begin until only a few months ago

dev team started an unrelated project a few months before uncanny, only a portion of the staff is actually working on uncanny

iirc same thing happened with tatsunoko uas, most of the cgoh guys were working on mvc3

Yeah I can still see the tweets because I left the window open.

Dude's definitely a step up from your average troll because he's giving a lot of specific, detailed and relevant information, if it's fake. At this point I cannot contact my rational thinking self to confirm/deny that.

only thing believable is the shuma teleport thing. capcoms answer for everything is teleport or dive kick.

You know if shuma got a teleport he'd jump up from garbage to at least lower A tier. His main issue was getting in. He has good tools for just about everything else.

It was what Magnetic Tempest originally was, actually. It only worked on Asteroid M, though. Basically, shit would appear above him really quickly, then he'd chuck it at you for obscene damage (very little chip, though). It was a special move too so it didn't cost meter lol.

Here's a video of it.

I never understood why he didn't get that for a level 3 in mvc3 just with a new name.

I just read Spencer's hyper...since when did he have a gun?
He's always used a wide variety of guns. Him being pure melee is what's weird.

There is no way we would've gotten 2 MM characters out of 4 were it not for the constant MM fanboy bickering out there. This whole thing sounds like a MM fanboy apology.

That blame is completely on the fanboys.

Stop channeling my megaman hate. LOL

The more attention you guys give to rumor pranks, the more we get and the more I have to PageDn through them. ò_ó

Here's a question: would you all be happy paying $15 for 4 new characters plus some updates to old characters? I know I would be.

Is it sad that that I would want an update a paid one even, if Phoenix Wright got some significant buffs?

EVO Hype abound! I can't wait till they are updated to youtube lol.

I'd be happy to pay for any new content (even a minor balance tweak) for full retail price as long as I get it on a disc. But I have a skewed perception of value. Price tag basically means nothing to me. If I want it, I'll buy it for almost any price; if I don't, then a $1 Steam sale is too much.

DLC is fine too, but that's always a necessary evil to me. Even free DLC is a pain in the ass. (Can't tell you how many unpatched tournament stations I've had to put up with. DLC is just inconvenient as hell.)

Analysis of Statistics

*Wesker is the most popular character pick in Ultimate Marvel. He eclipses the rest of the cast in number of picks by a considerable margin, about a value of 20 above the 2nd most popular character. Wesker has about as many appearances in top 8 as the bottom 25 characters in terms of popularity COMBINED!!! Wesker is also the most popular character in Grand Finals but is NOT the character with the most tournament wins.

*Magneto has the best record in all of Ultimate Marvel and is officially considered the best character in the game based on results. He is 2nd only to Wesker in terms of popularity but has much better efficacy as he has the most tournament wins in the game tied with Akuma and Doom. He is ranked higher than Doom and Akuma because he simply has more appearances in top 8 then them.

*Doom and Akuma are the most popular and efficient anchor + assist characters in the game. Their assists have been instrumental in various tournament wins and combined they make up around 2/3 of the tournaments won in UMVC3!

Honorable mentions to Frank West’s Shopping Cart, Sentinel’s Drones, Rocket Raccoon’s Log Trap, Ammy’s Cold Star, Magneto’s EMD and Dante’s Jam Session. These are essentially the top 8 best assists in the game based on results.

*Vergil and Wesker are the 2 biggest under performers in the game based off of popularity vs win ratio.

Wesker is the most popular character in the game by a long shot yet he only has 4 tournaments won vs his 54 appearances in top 8 (a percentage of only 7.4%). Vergil is in the top 5 most popular picks at 25 appearances yet only has 2 tournament wins (a percentage of 8%).

*Iron Fist has a perfect top 8 to tournament win ratio at 100% (2 appearances vs 2 wins). The only two times that someone made top 8 with IF on their team, they went on to win that tournament. The player to do this feat is of course none other than Justin Wong. Iron Fist also happens to be best performer of the low tier characters.
*Hawkeye has the most Grand Final appearances without actually winning a major tournament. Hawkeye also gets honorable mentions as having a top 10 assist in the game based on results as all placing of Hawkeye had him at the anchor or at least 2nd spot on a team.

*She Hulk and Tron have dropped massively in tournament performance and picks based off of the comparison between Vanilla vs Ultimate. Tron essentially hasn’t even broken top 8 yet in an Ultimate Marvel tournament and She Hulk at least has placed top 8 a couple of times. Phoenix has dropped considerably but still has a solid showing in Ultimate. Doom, who had NO tournament wins in Vanilla, rivals Magneto in most number of tournaments won easily having the most improved record going from Vanilla to Ultimate. Haggar Lariat hasn’t been as dominating as it was in Vanilla based on the results.

*Meta game shifts: First 1/3rd of Ultimate Marvel was dominated by Wesker usage but Wolverine wins. Middle of Ultimate Marvel tournament life was dominated by Morrigan, Doom and Akuma wins. Latter half saw the rise in use of Vergil along with a few wins going his way. Magneto was sprinkled all across the tournament life span of Ultimate Marvel making him the character that has survived the best in numerous meta game changes.

*The top 3 characters Zero, Vergil and Viper on most players’ tier lists cumulatively have less tournament wins under their belt than Magneto, Doom and Akuma have INDIVIDUALLY! Value of top assists in the game still matters greatly. The only tournament won in the entire life span of Ultimate Marvel with a team not comprising of a top assist was the very first tournament in Ultimate Marvel (NEC) where most people were still getting comfortable with the game.

*Justin Wong has the most major tournament wins followed by ChrisG at 2nd and FChamp at 3rd. He still remains the most consistent player in Ultimate Marvel just like in Vanilla and from all the tournaments he has entered only once has he failed to not make top 8.
Capcom should pay you for this. It's like you are the famitsu of tournament games haha.

Stuff like this might be very useful if they were working on a balance update.

I'm honestly surprised there wasn't a fake for Capcom Summer Jam.

Here's a question: would you all be happy paying $15 for 4 new characters plus some updates to old characters? I know I would be.
I will buy anything MvC3-related outside of Shadow Battles pretty much. I'm absolutely terrible at the games but I love them to death, and I will show my support. (U)MvC3 is a dream come true for me and probably my game of the generation. So 15$ for more content is an easy decision for me, despite me generally being a conservative gamer when it comes to purchases (never had much as a kid, so picking and choosing carefully has stuck with me). Also, this theoretical Uncanny update comes with the Vita features too and two new modes on top of that, so I can kind of rationalize it better.

Much like UMvC3 though, I completely understand if someone doesn't think it's of value, I expect a new wave of anger and animosity towards Capcom if this actually happens. But for those very invested in the MvC3 series, nearly any price for more would be acceptable for people.

I never understood the backlash of the updates. Capcom wouldn't make them if the demand wasn't there. Even if the "Super" version is only enticing to the hardcore crowd of the game and not the casual players, who cares. Fighting game fans are dedicated. Capcom knows that a large percentage of players will want anything they can get to keep the game updated and balanced with new content as a second selling point. It's not really a niche when the niche are buying updates in droves.

That rumor is so frustrating I almost believe it. Megaman and Gene is what fans want. It's well known. Anything else is a kick in the nuts. That and no Spidey villian. Not to mention 4 characters is a super weak update.

People just like to complain. Literally the only people who are actually negatively affected by paid updates are those who play the existing game online a lot and don't want to deal with a userbase split, and few if any of those guys actually make up much of the bitching. Everyone else comes out ahead: People who want new content get new content at a reasonable price; people who don't want to bother with it.... don't have to bother with it. But they whine about it for some reason anyway.

That rumor is so frustrating I almost believe it. Megaman and Gene is what fans want. It's well known. Anything else is a kick in the nuts. That and no Spidey villian. Not to mention 4 characters is a super weak update.
Seems like they're testing the AE model again.

I don't even remember the actual reasoning for no Spidey villains amongst the trillions of so called reports and leaks about such anymore. The character choices seem calculated anyways, and not really related to fan demand.

Megaman's and Servbot - MM 25th Anniversary
Ant-Man - Upcoming Wright 2013/2014 movie
Cyclops - AvX

I'll probably play Cyke just for 90s costume. And Servbot for awesome mini-Sent costume. UMvC3 has been a pretty decent indicator of Marvel's non-gaming interests, I guess that would follow suit with this update.

in speaking with seth (who was still at capcom!), work on uncanny didnt begin until only a few months ago

dev team started an unrelated project a few months before uncanny, only a portion of the staff is actually working on uncanny

iirc same thing happened with tatsunoko uas, most of the cgoh guys were working on mvc3

I see one possibility this is real: Uncanny is a Wii U title (and the PS360 get it as an expansion).

Capcom should pay you for this. It's like you are the famitsu of tournament games haha.

Stuff like this might be very useful if they were working on a balance update.

Actually thats not too bad of an idea. Dahbomb do you have a Capcom Unity account? If so I say it'd be a good idea to post this as its own thread of UMVC3 character statistics in high level play. Stuff gets noticed there a lot and this is some solid documentation of the fighting game scene.

If you don't have an account I can post it and credit you if you'd like. The least we can do is try to put this as close to their faces as possible considering we know at minimum a patch is coming simply due to Niitsuma's statement after the infinites were found. Might be enough to get something done about the overall balance of some characters.

It definitely makes an argument for Phoenix Wright and the rest of bottom tier needing buffs. Personally, I'd cut the damage in turnabout mode, but get rid of bad evidence entirely. This way you can play the guy, but he won't get 2 million damage easy and unbalance things once he gets used.

Yeah I can still see the tweets because I left the window open.

Dude's definitely a step up from your average troll because he's giving a lot of specific, detailed and relevant information, if it's fake. At this point I cannot contact my rational thinking self to confirm/deny that.

Just like that KLennox guy or whoever. He sounded pretty believable too at the time.

I hope this is real just because I would love Servbot to be in the game. I skipped Ultimate, but I would definitely get an update if it had Servbot.

Fake or real, according to him we'll know by Friday so I'm not too bothered if it's fake. If it's real character pick-wise there's not much that really excites me. Cyclops is okay but if they are indeed retaining his moveset from MvC2...eh. Never played him much but his moveset felt boring. Ant-Man is also a character that wouldn't make my personal lists but the different forms could be cool. I'd rather his slot go to a Spidey villain. Megaman is of course very requested but I never had much love for the character myself and lastly I believe Servbot is about the worst pick they could make. Gene or bust.

That said I would still get it, and the characters might even win me over if their playstyles are interesting. Would have liked either more or better characters though.

This would make tons of sense, especially since it'd likely be timed with Avengers on DVD.
We don't have a Wii U launch date yet do we?

UMvC3: UE (oh god even a terrible acronym) is mid August.
Avengers DVD is mid September, I think.

Part of me really believes this, but I'm still very cautious. While they're not exactly the characters I want, I'd still be happy we're getting an update of some kind. Guess we'll see soon enough if this is real or not.

Would be perfect if it was an update with the 8 characters they were originally planning to include in Ultimate, but eh, this Uncanny update would be good enough for me.

Agreed on this, Dahbomb. Share the fruits of your labor!

KLennox was never believable, in my opinion. All of his posts were horribly vague. I tried to get him to say anything about Phoenix, even things that Lupinko already told us, and he just gave me things like "there's lots of fire and she's cool, you'll love it!" Also, it's always good to find another person who loves Servbot.

Servbot/Rocket Raccoon/Ant Man!
