UMVC3: Phoenix Wright and Nova Revealed!

He REALLY REALLY did not need that stupid as hell glasses buff. Casuals who hated the living shit out of him look at this and just say fuck off.

I could live with the health if he didn't have a bide attack. First dig and now bide. They really are on some pokemon shit.
I'll judge after we figure out all the undocumented changes. :P

Glasses thing is a gift and a curse though, isn't it?

So you're not going to back up your claim? Then I guess we're done here.

Just ask every ammy player in a few weeks if not being able to block during air dashes was a good idea.

"Stale" and "Rotten" doesn't even adequately describe how I feel, honestly, I just didn't want to put too much mental energy into thinking about it what it was I felt. I'm that tired.

Why a curse? Just use Maximum Wesker and BAM! Instant perma-buff.
It's not perma if Maximum Wesker again puts em back on. Also I thought his damage was reduced in the non-buff states compared to vanilla? Vaguely remember hearing this, not sure if it was Max or not.

IIRC, Seth also mentioned that Maximum Wesker has an inverse effect now. In Vanilla, Wesker takes his glasses off during Maximum Wesker. In Ultimate, he puts a new pair on afterwards. So, the buff is basically a one-time thing until you hyper.

Nighty night fellas.

Ammy is actually viable as a keepaway character. Morrigan is the one that will die out within a matter of weeks.

As a Spencer player, I'm secretly laughing at all the airdashes being nerfed. WELCOME TO MY WORLD, HAVE A NICE STAY.

But seriously, it's really not that big of a deal for nearly the entire cast. The only ones I'd say who got hit bad by it are Morrigan and Hsien-Ko.

It does that? Still, is the buff really that significant? It's not like any of us noticed until we were told.

I'll have to get rid of some habits, but eh, I'll probably live, I didn't even know I could just block at first. If anything I'd worry more about the Morrigans and Hsien-kos.

Professor Beef said:
If they're not able to adapt after a few weeks, then they deserve what they get.

Well that's fine I'm not making a case for adapting or failing. There are better ways to make a game zoning based than taking the hammer to air mobility across the entire cast.

Someone post the percentages Seth detailed for the buffs. Could've swore it was less default/non-buffed damage but I'm not 100% sure.

Anyway no blocking during airdashes doesn't bother me, because Ammy is the matchup I hate most. I will X-Factor and kill her before Phoenix goddamnit. My only gripe with it is that it may make some characters free to projectiles in the extreme case zoning becomes super viable.

I wish Hsien Ko could cancel swings into moves like Tasky can cancel Spidey Swing. As a matter of fact I'd enjoy special cancelling and dash cancelling like crazy on Hsien Ko period.

I don't get why she can't already period.

Dude there's a million things that annoy me about the game but that doesn't mean that Id change all of them.

Hsien Ko has the best air walk in the game.

She should be able to cancel swings like her true self, not that poser. Dude probably saw it in Vampire Savior and stole that shit lol.

Hsien Ko is a blast to play
in training mode ;P
.

The first week I was using Hsien Ko, Wolvy and Sentinel. That assist blew all my friends up :D Her combos are actually really fun and I find them the most satisfying to pull off in matches. Not due to the fact that she is lacking but they just make me smile :)

Seriously, you need to go back a page or two and watch some of the footage I posted with her fucking dominating just because pendulums could cancel, let alone the different momentum, speed and startup differences between her Marvel 3 self and her Vampire Saviour self.

I can barely play VS, but I have so much fucking fun dicking around with simple setups like H Anki Hou + instant startup teleporting hop dash or simple air dash. Which reminds me, c.H and Anki Hou H items should OTG. Yay or nay?

Who wants to take over the responsibility of the Rocky/Frank thread? I can PM you the stuff I've prepared.

That is, if the trailers are put down before I come back.

You mean the world where air dashes have a full-screen length hitbox on them, giving you a free in on every single character in the game? Gladly.

I do not know why one of the strongest zoning option in the game should also be safe to everything. That makes no sense.

OK guys. I can't take it anymore. I'm almost dead.

Whoever opens the thread... please, name it in my honor:

Now go. Go on without me. I don't know if I'll return. At least know that I made an impact on creating a little fad calling Fanatiq Furnatiq cause he's a furry lulz.
He isn't one, but he made a joke that he's a furry :D

Free in implies that it's unpunishable, which is far from the case. Airthrows, long normals, airloops, zoning, and even just blocking the hitbox doesn't put Spencer at very much of an advantage compared to the speed of his moves. It's not like Spider-Man's which has insane plus frames on block, and Spencer also doesn't have the speed of Spider-Man's normals, so even an angled dash doesn't put him completely at advantage. Most characters can attack BEFORE Spencer can, meaning if Spencer pushes a button he gets blown up, or he has to block.

I'm not saying it's not a good airdash - because it is - but it's definitely not a free get in by any means. Now Spider-Man's on the other hand...

Yay, really... she does feel pretty lonely without a normal OTG. All Hypers... new Jump Cancel f+H out of c.H OTG for an air combo woulda been nice.

-----

Looking at Hsien Ko's changes, I wonder if any of them will really matter? Will jump cancel attacks give her some nice "Carry" combos, to allow her to gain meter/ get people in the corner for Tenrai-ha loops?

Will jump-cancelling her solid anti-air normals make her the bane of all who try to move, since air-blocking is out from dashes?

Will the universal buff to zoners make it so that she's the perfect character to have on a team, to nullify the new strength?

-----

Oh, and I've gone back to including her in my play rotation myself. I'd missed playing her, really... IAD j.H is so fun to spam on people, and then Sempu-bu right back in while covered by an assist, after the pushblock... And her ground dash might be slower than I'd like it, but it's great fun to cross people up with it, and pop out poking with that army knife jab of hers.

Darkstalkers characters are just too fun to play!

These impressions are weird run-on sentences and it's hard to understand where different thoughts start/end, that said, my attempt:

From the promotional video, raccoon joe (his japanese name, I guess?) has a burrowing move let's him 'warp' essentially. He has a hyper combo like dante's million dollars where he fires guns like crazy and one that's some huge landmine or something? He also has some kind of horizontal air-dash style technique that may or may not technically be an air dash. He looks strong.

From the promotional video, Frank throws around zombies and hits them at his opponents. Frank has a hyper where he thrusts a shopping cart at his opponent. There's also some level indicator in the UI for him, so he may have some kind of mechanic where he levels up during the match.

edit: spelling
