UMVC3: Phoenix Wright and Nova Revealed!

Rocket is worth the wait. Trust me.

I really can't wait to see him. Hands down one of my favourite marvel characters. I don't even know how he will play yet but there is a definite spot reserved on my team.

Hope we get costume DLC plans sometime soon. I'm sitting on a bunch of MS Points from that promo last week and may choose to hold the majority of those for cool costumes along the line.

That's still TBD.

Also, I don't know exactly when Rocket and Frank will be revealed -- but they will be! :-)

Chris, we're pretty salty mad that you guys won't let two people use a DLC costume at the same time, just give the DLC costume an extra color.

Especially since every character is going to be getting one, it's pretty unacceptable.

Question if someone doesn't mind answering: Is it possible to pull off respectable combos with a controller or do I absolutely need to invest in a stick?

You've got bots serving

But you best prep your snap backs
'cause I'm gonna take my health back
when my 10 hit tentacle whips crack
combo and start Devitalizing
and when you show slack I turn to stone
my ambiguous cross ups are Petrifying
You get mixed up you got mad and started mashing
Precision OTG my Hyper Mystic Smash is mystifying
I see you eyeballin' me
I'm mystic starin' at you
So what if I'm DLC
You've got a month till you're through
In Marvel 2 I was low tier
but now no tier can hold me
quit trying to play old school
This is Marvel 3, baby!
And everyone else is just an assist
they beck and call at my every mention
so stay focused, tighten your wrists,
or get wrapped up in my chaos dimension
If you challenge me, I'm not stopping to rest
I'm Shuma Gorath, waste of flesh.
Thanks for reminding me of this. Will add to OP.

OMG CHRIS BAKER WHILE YOUR STILL HERE CAN WE GET AN ANSWER ON ALT COSTUMES GETTING ALT COLOURS YET OR WHAT? ;(

Depends who you use. Some yes, some no.

Considering people kick my ass with crazy combos on a fucking 360 pad in a weekly basis, I'd say it's entirely doable.

I invested in a stick somewhere in May, and am now quite a bit more comfortable with it than I was with pad. The main thing I kept messing up was diagonals (Dormammu Flame Carpet/Dante Downward guns...) and shoryuken movements weren't 100% consistent. There are however quite a few top players with much much better execution than me who play on pad. Mastah CJ and Fanatiq pull off some very technical stuff on regular 360 controllers.

Jesus. Why you keep asking this? He can't say. :/

That's pretty much a given, but it would be nice that this specific feedback and the fact that more people here are stressing this ups the chances of it getting at least considered by the people who actually can affect this kind of stuff.

Vergil/Dante/Wesker most likely.

Okay thanks. I'm happy to purchase a stick but not really sure which one to go for. Will use a pad for now I guess.

That Gr + Strider combo was nasty. I think Strider and Doom's roles are going to reverse this time around. Strider relied on rocks in MvC2. I can see Doom making use of Vajra, while he tries to rush down or chips people to death with beams.

I thought he couldn't say yet like a month ago. So close to release now and still no word from Capcom? It's gonna end up as an after-the-fact thing where they explain why they aren't in after they're already in our hands and were already disappointed.

Are you using a 360 controller or a Fightpad?

Vergil and Wesker shouldn't really pose a problem. Dante is harder with bold cancels and rekkas. With the easier rekka command in Ultimate, though, those moves should be made easier on the 360 controller.

PS3 pad, I never had problems with fighting games, personally. Fightpads are great too. I think Marvel's a good game to play on a pad.

Do anyone have that weird feeling that Chun Li is getting Juri colors?
Needs to happen now.

Thanks for setting my expectations high now. Should get a Hakan alt for good measure, one of my favorite fighting game character designs in a long while.

When I asked him he said "I can talk when Capcom talks", Capcom didn't talk yet, so he obviously can't. :<

I'm fine answering questions about Marvel-related stuff that has been announced for any Marvel game I'm working on, but when it comes to the intricacies of game content, that's entirely up to the publisher, whether that's Capcom or Activision or whoever else might have something in the works.

I don't know if this counts as something intricate about gameplay content, but what was the philosophy behind adding Nova into UMvC3 and the way he's represented (with the red life burning mechanic, his aesthetics and all that). Did you guys particularly want him to be agile, etc.?

Hey

For people who asked about Chris Baker.

He is worker @ Marvel.

I can recommend the Madcatz Tournament Edition Fightstick. I've had mine for around 6 months and it's really good, still very responsive. If you're going to play on stick, it's better to get one as soon as possible rather than spend any more time on pad. It's a pretty significant transition, but IMO complex actions are just easier and more natural to pull off on a good stick. Not everyone feels the same, but if I had to guess I'd say about 90% of serious players use stick.

Dante isn't really easy on a controller but still more than playable.

also is quicksilver gone in umvc3?
No idea, no mention of it in the changelog. I don't think so because I don't think even Capcom knew about it and when the glitch was discovered game was already gold. Probably will be patched with a month later patch. Honestly if Capcom knew about Seth would've hyped it up "Guys there is totally a super secret game breaking technology with Dante that only we at Capcom know about... but we aren't going to tell you what it is and will be removing it from the game".

It seems easy to hit Strider out of Vajra assist. I can see it working with characters like Doom and Ironman that can cover their assists and for possible mix ups on into characters. Gram appears to be really awesome. That wallbounce!

I noticed that from all the Strider use in those videos Satellite was only used maybe twice. Is that because it is hard to get out, hard to use in combos? Satellite is really important to Strider, it basically needs to be out at every possible chance.

Halloween reveals sound awesome. REALLY looking forward to see Rocky. He has been a Marvel favorite of mine for some time. Still don't believe they put him in the game.

Ouroboros is now a level 3, so it has specific uses and is expensive. It also doesn't even do block damage, so it has very different utility in this game.

Not Ouroboros. His Satellite (qcb.s) The robotic helper drone that otg's.

Also I thought Ouroboros did a little chip now?

Huh? Satellite is the move where one circles around Strider and was/is used as an OTG. The one that can be used as a projectile.

EDIT: Ouroborus doesn't do chip but in the game engine it sets up unblockables which then lets Strider to kill off that char with the orbs and the next char comes in on a mix up. Also Ninja'd.

Not entirely sure, but he could've meant the singular satellite that Strider can summon, which he can shoot forward like a fireball to blow up which allows him to OTG, rather than Ouroboros.

In that case, I guess the players were absent-minded, or knew combos that didn't need the satellite. That said, I do agree that more players should have that thing out at all times possible. You've got to keep in mind there are a lot of people playing Strider for the first time now, though.

I can't help but feel that these comments coupled with the complete lack of effort on that blog post to really explain any colours indicates that Marvel writer is somewhat angry with Shuma's inclusion in the game over other marvel characters.
Because Shuma is, and always has been, garbage.

In the last video, second match, Phoenix does the Maya Hyper, it whiffs and Ghost Rider lands between Phoenix and Maya, and Phoenix does a ground series which GR blocks while Maya is still going.

Was this known? This means that Phoenix can do the Maya hyper and mix up the opponent while they block her attacks. You can even do Maya hyper -> X factor -> Call overhead assist -> Unblockable.

Also, I wonder what Maya XFC Maya would look like. 2 Mayas?

Nah, that's impossible, he just slips up if he tries to call Maya again while she's out IIRC, be it a simple special or the hyper.

And well, no, we haven't seen that used for mixups I think, but it seemed obvious to me.

You can't use maya twice at once. (only one maya at screen) so it might not work.

Also I found source where Dahbomb found.
