complaining about a game being too linear is probably one of the laziest criticisms a reviewer can use, I reckon.

But then all of my favourite games (RE4, Half-Life 2, Grim Fandango) are very linear affairs

I actually like linear games, like in NG2s when you can usa ninja vision to see where you need to go

i dont like running around lost for hours, probably one of the biggest reason i dont like rpgs like fallout/oblivion

I wonder what the ratio of "WHAT!? 9.3 IS AN AWFUL SCORE" to "lol, 9.3 is a bad score to you guys? hah, peasants" posts is.

There are 1 or 2 people saying 9.3 is a bad score.

Most of us are saying it's a great score. We just have problems with GT's criticisms.

There are very few people complaining about the actual score, the majority of complaints are about the inconsistency when it comes to knocking a game because it's not original. You can count the amount of truly original games released each year on one hand.

The linear gameplay criticism doesn't make much sense but whatever issues they had with the game, it didn't effect their overall opinion of it all that much.

I personally like Hub designs more than straight linear progression. Like in the first Jak, Metroid Prime, early MGS's or most recently Arkham Asylum. But it only works for a certain type of game with certain elements. I think both designs work fine, but for a globe trotting adventure that way doesn't work. It HAS to be linear

I actually enjoy a primarily linear game as opposed to the alternative. It's pretty much preference

It's funny that Gametrailers basically acknowledges that to have such expert pacing and amazing set pieces the game has to be linear, yet they still have the gall to complain about linearity.

Oh well. I'm ready for gaming discussion to begin in a few days and review discussion to go away. But that's all we've got for a few more days.

I don't know about everyone else, but I'd love an Uncharted PSP title.

I like the world and characters but such a big part of uncharted is the presentation. I'm interested to see how the go about it.

That was a nice review on Gametrailers, but God do I hate going to that website. Their ads are becoming too invasive.

wtf GT mentioning that the platforming could be a bit more versatile means that they want a sandboxcharted all of a sudden? Check yer heads.

I'm imagining an Elena side story where she's in a ancient ruins area and has to snap photos, take video and avoid traps and such. Would be a nice change of pace and also avoid a dev trying to create Uncharted's shooting mechanics on the PSP.

That and the fact many members are pissed off about story spoilers being included in the review which it could have done without.

I refrained from watching it and I'd suggest the same for people who like to find out the story for themselves and can take the trouble to go to other websites that have written reviews.

One opiniun, is that character designs are better than in UC.Marcus isn't a woosy-guss like nathen, he actually works out and doesn't cry about people or aleins shooting at him. Another facter, is, that, simpley has better game design. In UC you roll off cliffs.....that'sa bout it. Gears actually has good epic moments with better music to go along to enhance the experiance. Not to mentiun, that Gears is more critically acclaimed than uncharted, and took half the time to develop. Didn't mean to offend anyone,t hat's just opiniuns.what do you guys think.

Yeah, most people attacking those people who are discussing the criticisms are just missing the point entirely. It happens all the time as they just look for reasons to come down on people though. Not all of them (Yobo is legit), but most, including gaf's "Hi, I am Mr. Neutral".

i played my first game of multi-player and got murdered. I think I will wait to play through the actual game so that I can feel a little more comfortable on the game mechanics.

Courage seems to work. I just run to people and punch them to death. Most of the time and first in the server too...

I love how weak the camping tactics in this game are.

The melee is absolutely broken, so it's pretty easy to get some kills by doing that. I notice most people can't seem to keep the aiming up yet with runners either. So you can probably sneak in some kills that way

Also, Grenades are extremely easy to get off in the game. The characters just seem to flick them and they are quite powerful. Make sure to always uses yours before you die. You may get lucky.

The adblock add on I just got seems to work against that.

You got firefox? I could link you to the add on.

What I got out of it is they would have loved a couple levels where they could explore a good sized level on their own. I can see that for a small part of the game, with how much fun it is jumping around the levels being able to sort of explore a large area would be a nice way to break up a level or two.

I like that bit in the Behind the Scenes video at GameInformer.
Tenzen starts swinging a rope with a hook to grapple onto a cliff ledge.
"Oh yeah, good luck pal. That's almost impossible to... oh you did it, nice......" - Drake
Tenzen swings across.

Haven't watched GT's review yet. I don't even think I'm going to... What were their complaints?

Mainly linearity, but they didn't really harp on it and also said it helped the game out in some ways.

Another was lack of originality which really shouldn't be (and wasn't) a big complaint considering the other 9+ games this gen. :lol

In general I find GT reviews to be lacking. They always put a strange slant in most of their reviews and tend to cater more towards the fanboys on any given side of the fence, as they deem fit. Some of the comments are cringe worthy at best, its almost like watching fanboys fuelling fanboys sometimes. They can splice together some nice footage and I think this is their main appeal, providing they aren't spoiling the game that is.

I think they're okay, 'cept for IW and their forums.

By that token I don't think there is anything wrong with taking solid gameplay elements from another game and putting your own spin on them. In the case of Uncharted 2, that spin is vertical combat / platforming inside the multiplayer game.
