Uncharted 4: A Thief's End Multiplayer |OT| Swinging To Victory

Well I wish you could see what league you're placed in all the time when playing ranked. You have no idea if you are playing with people in the same league as you.

Agreed, especially since even on diamond III I feel like sometimes my teammates are on their first game, judging by the way they're playing. Not their fault if so, but I'm not convinced that matchmaking is working as intended. But maybe there's not enough players in the higher ranks to fill up the matches, so they get replaced by players from lower ones? Hopefully this will resolve over time.

Running some really good games with just the Para 45 + extras. Eddy Raja has top-tier banter.

Between the mobile game, challenges, and trials, I've gotten a lot of stuff already. Hoping I can get close to everything that's currently available before the first content update hits.

Quick question:

Are there any multiplayer rewards tied to story mode or ranked multiplayer?

I see some people complaining about the random rewards, for the most part I've been really lucky and the only character I'm missing is Chloe. I wonder who they plan on adding in the future, some of these skeleton pirates can replace skellzor.

Wow Mines are an easy way to get kills just leave them next to a diamond or In high traffic spot. Nobody is looking for them.
It's also satisfying to throw a mine then draw someone to it by being bait.

Nice to see all the technical issues from past UC MP games are still present. Party splits, people in the party not being on the same page (ie: someone isn't searching and is stuck in the lobby) long matchmaking waiting times, black screens, and other shit. Aside from those frustrating issues, this MP is very fun.

Plunder could be the mode to play, but as it is, it's not even half as good as past UC MP plunder. All the mystical spam is terrible, and the fact that the idol spawns in the same place is so dumb. I still wish it was 5v5 but the mystical spam is already bad enough with just 4 players, can't imagine with 5. Matches are over way too quickly too. Haven't had any awesome back and forth matches like with UC2 or 3.

I like command. I feel like that mode works pretty well. I still wish we would have gotten Team Objective over this though as Team Objective is the best mode ever. Hopefully it'll get added soon...

I actually like mysticals

I feel they are much more reserved from beta

People diversify their purchases between strong gear (totally fun to place a mine in the enemy chest), sidekicks, mysticals, and power weapons

An el dorado is excellent at crowd control while cintimani gets you into intense scrambles

Ive had awesome 2-3 matches

Ive had some total wipeouts too, but I think most people are still learning. That and some parties absolutely wreck randoms

Thank god for the mobile game, by getting it to 100% I got more than 5K Relics. I still have 24 keys left to use for more chests to possibly get more.

Are the mobile game skins exclusive?

I just started playing but feel like the relics are the most important thing to collect otherwise

I'm pretty sure they're not. Here they are:
NvLzgd1.jpg

Note that the ones I haven't unlocked don't even have the specific levels available yet, the app says they're "coming soon".

Having spent some time with of the primary weapons in the game I feel like the only weapons that are competitively viable are the FAL, AK and Mettler.

All of the other fully automatics sacrifice accuracy for an enhanced rate of fire yet they do not reduce the time to kill significantly enough to justify having to control that recoil. The primary buff that these weapons offer is within blindfire, yet blindfire doesn't typically occur especially often as the radar and emphasis on sticking together force engagements to occur at more reasonable ranges.

This applies to weapons like the HCR and MP34a, but weapons like the coperhead suffer too. The copperhead has significantly worse time to kill than FAL or Metler, and much lower accuracy too (as a scoped long gun), with its only advantage being in blindfire. The thing is though, nothing stops you aiming a FAL or Metler at a guy that's 2 feet away, and it doesn't get any less effective up close.

I was commenting yesterday how a FAL burst up close, does more damage than a shotgun blast. It also has more bursts per clip, and the potential to be used at range too. The same is true of many weapons actually, the time-to kill on the FAL and Metler is remarkable at range, but that doesn't somehow disappear up close, and these weapons retain a faster time to kill than the specialised close ranged weapons that have made several sacrifices to range and accuracy at close to close-mid ranges.

It feels as though both the MP34a and HSC need a boost to their damage, and the HSC also needs a boost to its stock ammunition and clip capacity (otherwise there's no reason to use it over even the MP34a). The shotgun is pretty useless as it stands and while I can see why it would be annoying if it were incredibly effective, it would be great if it could be a consistent two-shot kill rather than quite often three.

This is what I would say the weapon 'tier list' looks like at the moment. I'm open to being wrong, but hopeful that it might spark some interesting discussion.

S
FAL
Mettler

A
AK 47

B

Copperhead
MP34A

C

I've chosen not to include the bolt action sniper rifle as theoretically it can be the best or worst weapon in the game with perhaps the most variance in that performance depending on the player using it. I doubt we will see much beyond FAL and Metler at higher levels of competitive play, and that seems to be the thoughts of the community on the UnchartedMultiplayer subreddit too.

I don't necessarily have a problem with that, precision weapons should always have the greatest potential I suppose, but it would be nice for the balance between the pool of weapons to be a little tighter, in my opinion.

Auction house map is so fucking bad. And it's a shame that so many people's dualshocks don't have triangle buttons.

Well, they finally implemented the character customization we always wanted. However, the gunplay is pretty lacking compared to uc2 1.04. Six years later, ND still cannot match their peak.

Oh and we get the same glitches and laggy shitfests we have had since UC2, UC3, and TLOU. You would think after all these games they would fix things that have been appearing since game 1.

Really? As far as my impressions go the gunplay is much better than UC2 and 3. The leap to 60 frame per second multiplayer makes the game feel much more responsive and the weapons generally give more feedback.

I also haven't experienced a lot of lag. When players lag beyond a certain threshhold they get the 'connection error' symbol and they're forced to stand still. Sucks to be them, but it stops those 'wtf' scenarios by preventing players from playing if they not have consistent upload in online multiplayer.

Can't say I'm really enjoying this, so far I've been favoured to lose in all my placement matches and lose I have. The last game we had no one decent and they had people dropping 3k+, how is that supposed to be fun? Is it just not viable to play solo?

I have played around 12 hours of multiplayer and the majority of the time was between 9-12 EST so I would have thought connections would be decent. 1/3 of the time was the classic games you knew you would get if the other players had the clan tag [MEX] or [BR]. They get get 3-4 bullets into you after you are behind a solid wall or the classic elastic melee. It is great that they get better ping thousands of miles away, but sucks for everyone else having to deal with that.

I put 100s of hours into uc2 and a maybe 100 into uc3. Guns have a wonky feel. Reminds me of the Subway Kal7 beta. At least they toned down melee damage.

Is there a point I need to reach before I can create custom loadouts? Seems like all I can select is a pistol at the moment. Not a big fan of the unlock system so far - I had a pretty nice custom loadout within a few hours in the beta - but I guess this system is meant to be played out over a longer time

What makes you say that? I think it's my favourite map.
Auction House is amazing. Probably my favorite map. Remnants is the worst, but it's still okay. I don't think there are any bad or terrible maps, just ones people prefer to play on. Like River or Rooftops.

Also, I just played my first game of Plunder and won. It is hype personified.

And the mp34a is my new favorite gun to use.

Okay, I'm done sharing.

After 2 and 3, I gotta say, I'm pretty disappointed with the multiplayer suite in 4. It's weird how much they ditched from the previous two games, but, barely added anything to make it stand out from any other TPS multiplayer game.

Dumb radar, no cinema (unless I missed that?) no throwing back grenades, no emblems, no power plays. So many modes missing: co-op / FFA / Team Objective / Lab / Elimination.

I don't know. I just feel like for all the time they had to make this, they *really* flubbed it.

I have to agree about the radar. Radars in almost all online shooters should be nuked from orbit.

Can't you create custom loadouts from the very beginning? The reason they make you choose your pistol first is because it's the only thing you have to have. After that, you can pick whatever, as long as it's unlocked.

I don't recommend playing ranked until you think you're skilled enough.

Auction house just doesn't feel like an Uncharted map. There's very little verticality, the paths are all wide open firing lanes, and the treasure dropoff spots in plunder are odd. I don't know, lol. Just never happy to see it

UC2 has the worst gunplay in the series barring Golden Abyss (I honestly can't even remember this game). The feather weight feel, lack of impact, and lose reticle killed the feel of UC2's guns for me. As far as the landing shots goes, it was easier to hit people in UC2. The recoil in this game is nuts, but it feels good and makes shooting accurately feel more satisfying.

Aim assist seems a bit nuts (or is it just me?). Wish they'd turn it down. I feel like taking it off will put me at a severe disadvantage.

The base game is fun, but I'm pretty disappointed at the lack of content/modes. It feels like there's barely anything here.

I have to agree, they took quite a few steps forward in gameplay, but took a bunch of steps back on the content front. The MP feels like it's missing quite a lot.

Are there spoilers in the MP?

No, just locations.

However quick side note for those who are up to chapter 17/completed the game.
I played the MP after getting to chapter 8 in story mode and when I saw that Sam's drug lord cell mate wasn't payable in MP I kinda guess he was bullshitting Nate. Of course they reveal that he was in fact lying.

The textures/assets on the pirate shack map (don't know the real name) are horrendous. The map itself is a hell of a lot of fun though.

That's a silly thing to say, ranked isn't for elite people, it's for people who want even matches, there are lower divisions for a reason.

I didn't say it's for elite people. It's just you shouldn't start ranked unless you think you're ready. Many newcomers would bum out and give up after losing most of their placement matches. Play for fun first and then worry about ranked.

To be fair they're adding more modes and maps for free down the line, along with features like replay. Doesn't really excuse them cutting stuff out, but it's a single player game first and foremost and I doubt they were gonna delay it due to mp missing features. I've never played 2 and 3 mp so I can't compare but I feel like it's okay so far.

I am already sick of Remnant map. After ever 2 games its Remnant.
Yeaaah. I was playing with gaf and friends, and we got it like 3 times in a row. Maybe that's why I think it's "meh."

But ranked is fun, because in theory it should be the most balanced experience. It doesn't matter if you're bronze or platinum, an even game is an enjoyable one. I don't play ranked for my rank, I play it so I'm put with and against people of my own level. The problem is when the matchmaking shits the bed and puts the Terminator into a bronze match so you have no chance. I assume it'll be more accurate in a couple of weeks once everyone is at the rank they belong.

Have you tried non-ranked? I haven't touched ranked but I've been having some really even games!

Some of these boosters/mods, man...

DTI & FF in all but name.
Marking just by shooting someone.
No noise.
etc.

Where's the Map voting?
Where's Jeff, Schafer, Draza, all of Laz's soldiers, Talbot's goons?
Where's the game modes?

Oh, right... that's like, 6 months away.

So, how are people finding the balance?

Having to drop two players from Plunder because of mystical spam doesn't fill me with confidence. I'm wondering how Plunder works in general; is there even a defense against throwing a DOTA tower at an enemy chest?

What's weird is that of all the changes they made to make it more like TLOU, there's no elimination (one life) mode? That seems crazy, and I bet that's the one planned mode too.

Wow. Mines are... amazing.

I take back everything I said about mines.

Mines net me about 1000-1500 points every Command game. They are insane.
