Uncharted 4 spoiler free early copy impressions

I believe you. It's just that early copy buzz is a thing.

Even now I struggle to come up with negatives for The Last of Us, so I know Naughty Dog have it in them, but I know it won't be flawless, so it's hard to take such glowing reviews seriously.

No game is flawless anyway... We'll see for ourselves in a week:)

That said I haven't seen all of the impressions top to bottom. Even as people have made an attempt to avoid spoilers combined I find the impressions begin to convey the structure of the game, and I'd like to avoid. I just want to see "I didn't like ... so much ".

I'm with you on TLoU, I have some nitpicks, but nothing that could be considered a negative.

If that game is anything to go by, U4 will probably be the same way.

The set peices are great, one def rivaled the hotel for me in a way making me feel almost like they took inspiration from it but then totally didn't lol. I won't say more on that. Also I think there are more oh shit set peices here and throughout then the rest of the franchise. It just feels more consistent but not also over bearing Just right basically. These can be more long drawn out moments or just quick but interesting oh shit parts.

Is there a set-piece that rivals/tops the cruise ship and airplane from Uncharted 3?

This beats all the other naughty dog games prior for me. It's the best playing, most varied, most beautiful game they have ever made. To me this is the new standard as classic or masterpiece of a game this gen goes as far as a total package.

These are my favorite actally but I think we're getting into really just what people will preference more regardless of quality.

Dude, you're begging for an avatar quote each time you talk about Uncharted 4.

I need to hear some negatives.

Otherwise the unrelenting praise is hard to believe, and easy to dismiss as early copy buzz.

I'm pretty sure the first few hours will be a bore on multiple playthroughs. That said you can skip them. It's TLOU like in that regard.

Platforming is identical, nothing has changed there. Hand to hand combat is visually some of the most impressive moments but from a gameplay perspective it's a really basic combat system, pretty much the same as U3. Hell I think U3 allowed for more defensive options.

Happy. :P

Looks amazing, can't wait...another two months :/

From what I gathered about the 'negatives', if any, is a slow start and an underwhelming boss fight (gameplay wise) and not amazing villains?
But that's just me skim reading -- you can just wait for reviews or play the game when it comes out of it's too hyped atm.

Well climbing is but the grapple add with the climbing and the other later ability mixes it up a bit. Also did Nate always just grab nearby ledges withing hitting the jump button? Cause now you can hold the stick put to aim your hand/arm and if a ledge is there he automatically pulls himself up.

Yeah, that's believable.

Fuck me, I'm going to have to take a day off work next Tuesday, aren't I?

I'm hardly the biggest Uncharted fan in the world (2 was great, but I don't rate it as highly as most do), but I love everything I've seen and heard about this one.

I have a bad feeling that this game might be too much for my PS4 to handle. Every time I insert Last of Us disc console goes in full jet engine mode.

I opened and dusted my ps4 this past weekend. I was going jet engine in ratchet. After that it's been nice and normal, no jet yet with U4. So I recommend it, watch one of the many videos on YouTube.

Hit detection was fine in uncharted 3. It's the hit reactions that were lacking.

I think it is just going back to the game after so long and the reticule is just not as good as UC2/4 beta. And the hit reaction are an issue as I have a hard time knowing if I hit someone other than a headshot.

Preorder cancelled. I am now predicting an 8 from eurogamer.

Another question, On a scale of 1-10 with 1 being Witcher 3 foliage and 10 being Star Wars Battlefront Endor level foliage, how good is the foliage in Uncharted 4?

15.

I wanted to show you tree pics last night but you said no.

The best thing I can say a out the mechanics so far is that it's pretty much the MP mechanics in SP. 30FPS aside, it's translated incredibly well and actually work better given that enemies react when getting shot at.

Is there still that satisfying 'thwip' noise when bullets connect?

Beautiful. I can tell if PS4 Neo runs this in 60fps it'll be a sight to behold.

Thank god for this. Was worried that they would over animate the player character in SP, losing some of that responsiveness.

Just to make sure, no aiming isuues in terms of input lag or deadzones? The beta was good. so hopefully this is the same.

All I needed to hear, making it likely my favorite TPS mechanics ever.

Overhyped!

Doesnt sound like it. Or maybe I'm just not picking it up. There's been a lot going on in the gunfights so far for me to pin it down.

Animation: Theres definitely the typical SP animation upgrades you should expect and they do affect how long it takes or Drake to do something. However, for the actual gunfights, it's to a minimum. Example would be that there are just a plethora of contextual animations and climbing animations that aren't in MP but are in SP. But gunplay feels largely the same and is incredibly responsive.

Aiming: None that I can notice. The default aiming options are actually petfect for me sensitivity wise. Think it must've been tweaked cause I had to mess around with it for the beta.

Very carefully skimming this thread. I know, it's impressions, not spoilers. But there still is freshness in finding out how a game makes you feel, too, which is why I now stand on tiptoes. :P

Whatever the case, thanks a bunch to all folks willing to lend early impressions and commit to a spoiler-free write-up or two of it, I'm sure it's well-appreciated by most of us here. My only question is: is it better than Ocarina of Time? (J/k.) Jokes aside, sounding like a hell of a time, so far, and glad to hear it.

Few More questions about the game

Are there silence guns in the game ?

Can you upgrade your weapons like in TLOU ?

More stealth in the game ?

Is the game Sharp or More wash out for better graphics ?

HURRY UP AND GIVE US YOUR IMPRESSIONS ABOUT THE INTRO!!!

I have counted 4 guys saying it is better than TLOU already. Just another one and I can manage my expectations to "Get ready for the GOAT".

I'll add my impressions to the mix in the next 6 hours. Off work in two then playing for the next four hours straight; -)
