Uncharted 4 spoiler free early copy impressions

Cannot wait to get my copy, i have a few questions to ask

(1) does the game have a lot of stealth sections ?? the reason i liked U3 over U2 is because half of the game was puzzles and stealth sections

(2) i hear the intro is perfection, is it even better than MGS V's ??

(3) has the gunplay and movement been improved since the beta ?? and how does it compare to MGS V's ?

(4) can you upgrade drake's abilities like in TLOU?

Graphically, there's one thing that bothers me.

The aliasing method can be noticeable when you turn the camera and makes the artifacts it produces quite apparent. However, it's not a big issue because the trade off is extremely clean image quality. Barely a jaggy in sight. And it really only happens when you pan the camera around.

The other thing is more of an observation really. The detherred shadows. Not really a problem or noticeable in the gameplay so far but you can just barely make it out in the cutscene sometimes. It's actually been toned down quite a bit it seems from pre-release footage. It's just kinda there but not really.

Is the game worth playing on normal? Could only enjoy Uncharted series on Easy for some reason, typically play games on normal.

Probably due to how the shooting felt for me. Those ps3 sticks don't help.

Reposting my question from earlier in the thread.

Okay we must now know for 100% certain the answer to this question:

Are Tweaks (weapons, character skins, the antigrav, black & white and etc) in this game? More importantly, do character skins affect the cutscenes -- or do they force Drake to always be Drake even if you use a different character skin (i.e Sully or someone else)? How many character skins are there? Comparable to UC2 or is it much more the size of UC3 in the Nathan Drake Collection with over 80+ character skins?

That will probably be solely on you to decide.

Temporal AA then?

Quantum Break also had notable artifacts when you turn the camera.

Not sure on the specifics but something like that. It's largely same as the beta but less I would assume due to the resolution bump.

On the performance side of things, there have been a couple of small, less then a second dips during huge explosions but only two so far. And after my PS4 database rebuild, the minor hitching that I had noted earlier seems to have disappeared.

Edit: Note that the artifacts are visible largely when standing still and panning, not so much during movement.

Its looks like every time ND releases a game they close everybody mouth about underpowered hardware . But could it be possible that this is the best looking game ever released ?

1. Stealth is totally revamped and a major component now.

2. MGS was more wow cause the mystery aspect of it.

3. Look at my previous posts.

4. No. It's uncharted.

How does the opening compare to the others and Last of Us? 2 starts off with a bang, while TLOU has the emotional tense build-up to the chaos in the streets. Didn't think 3's opening was that special

I also feel like the story trailer sold the facial animation in this game kinda short...

Edit:^^ IMO, it's better then UC2 and TLOU. It's both bombastic, features a lot of gameplay and has the emotional component of TLOU (though obviously not to that degree).

Whoever answers this please spoiler tag the response.

EDIT:
Nevermind.

I've never been a fan of the puzzles in the series tbh, but so far, they're not bad. Nothing tough but not pushovers either.

I'm not done yet though, so that might change.
Puzzles in Uncharted are always there to give you a tomb raid-y feel, not really there for the gameplay. A puzzle that would trump players would ruin the pacing. I've always liked them as ancillary things along the journey.

As for other posters mentioning that a certain screen looks like concept art...

There's a lot of that in this game. It's really a combination of he lighting, color and overall fidelity. Graphically, its been absolutely flooring me.

I see! Thanks.

Are there any stages that feature weather - like rain?

I love rain levels in games and I feel like rain would look amazing in this game!

I am pretty sure there was an artwork with
Drake walking by the beach in some kind of heavy storm
.

Also there is that footage in the last trailer
that looks like the boat is in the middle of a storm in the ocean
.

Putting the pieces together you can have an idea already of what is going to happen haha

How bad is the level of enemy bullet spongeness compared to UC1-3?

(This might already be known but I've been avoiding gameplay videos)

Ehh 2 still feels pretty spongey imo. Then you have the armoured assholes.

A single bullet to the head downs the armored dudes. Eg from a sniper, desert eagle, revolver etc. Grenade launchers and rocket launchers also make short work of them.

This is a spoiler free thread, where we can talk about impressions, when we ask questions like that it becomes a spoiler thread pretty fast.

How is the music? Is it one the same scale as The Last of Us?

One headshot for regular enemies, two for armored. I wouldn't consider that spongey.

Even not head shoting the regular enemies go down really fast in 2 lol. The armored guys obviously take a lot of bullets...because they're armored. And even then if you focus on the head or one specific place they die quickly, and they have good feedback with the armor plates breaking away as you shoot them.

If you seruously consider weather effects a spoiler you should pretty much stay out of any thread about the game and wait until release.

This is true, but I believe the feeling of sponginess is not only related to TTK.

Good hitboxes, weapon feedback, and hit reactions play a large role in making you feel like your bullets are impacting enemies and not just being absorbed. Uncharted games (before 4) were never that strong in this department. The lack of hit reactions in 3 is likely why enemies feel spongier than in 2, even though they have very similar health.

That isn't what this thread is for.

It's for impressions, not "Is this in the game?". Those, however minor, are spoilers. If Naughty Dog wanted to show it they would have.

I couldn't find an answer to this.

But with Greg Edmonson gone, is the music good and is Drakes Theme at least still in there?

The theme is kind of there but it's not the same. I haven't played the game but someone did post the credits screen with the theme playing on YouTube a few days ago. It's a much more subdued version of Nate's Theme... A little more melancholy. I'm not a huge fan of it but some others who've heard it think it's fine.

Some of you are just too precious about what a spoiler is, and if you are that fucking delicate you shouldn't be in a thread like this. If you dont want spoilers why do you want to read an impressions thread anyway ffs.
