Uncharted: The Lost Legacy |OT| Ladies Trip

Spent like 3 hours on chapter 4, masterpiece of a chapter. Just blows away what they were trying in Madagascar. When did Uncharted get good puzzles, holy shit. Actual exploring, actual puzzles, great mix of combat situations, man naughty dog needs to expand on this even more!

I'm only about half an hour, MAYBE 45 minutes, into Chapter 4, and it really is remarkable for this type of game. It does have sort of that Breath of the Wild-lite sensibility, only with visuals and (IMO) combat that far, far exceed that.

Really looking forward to ND exploring this type of level design more often in their future games.

I still haven't moved past Chapter 4, but I guess it's safe to say this might be one of the best, if not the best, "B-team" game ever, right? Bodes really, really well when some unknowns (in comparison to Druckstraley) manage to pump out this qualitative game in such a short time.

I don't think this is B-team, even though leads like Neil Drucmann and Bruce Straley weren't on it. To my understanding, it was still the majority of Naughty Dog working on this for the last year.

Chloe is best woman in Uncharted.
I started the game on Crushing... I fucked up right.
Man this game is pretty.
I also enjoy the survival horde mode.

that's true but I think it's still important in that it shows they have other people that can lead the development of a game that could be as good as Straley/Druckmann.

Often other people who could be just as talented may leave for other opportunities to be in charge, so ND letting 2 new people head this game and seeing this result definitely I think will be promising for the studio moving forward.

100%. These directors are exceptionally talented.

This is one of my favorite things Naughty Dog has ever put out.

Nah, it's been less frustrating and annoying than U4 on Crushing so far. I mean assuming you want the trophy.

Chapter 3 shootout is kind of rough, but I am told it is the most difficult encounter in the entire game on Crushing(silent pistol is a huge help for certain sections I've found so far).

Finished this tonight. They did a great job with the game. Didn't care too much for Chloe or Nadine from their past experiences but this game made me like them a lot. The writing hit all the right notes for me. The plot itself is serviceable enough and closes of the characters' arcs well.

I think Chapter 9
is probably the strongest set piece in the series.

This game found a sweet spot for the open areas that U4 was lacking. Even the fetch the tokens quest was fun with the mini puzzles.

My personal/arbitrary rankings
U4>TLL>2>3>1

Hope we get to see another Uncharted down the road. Giving new characters a spotlight was a huge success.

I posted my unfiltered thought in the spoiler thread, but wanted to post here as well.

I was one of the people disappointed with UC4. I also was never a big fan of Chloe. So going into this, I wasn't really sure how I'd feel, but I loved it.

The pacing was better. The intermingling of climbing, puzzle solving, and gunfights were better. There were more memorable moments and set pieces, reminiscent of my favorite moments from past Uncharted games. Even the stuff I disliked the most in 4, like the open world driving section and the rope mechanic, felt much more balanced and focused.

I also really warmed up to Chloe thanks to the backstory presented. Nadine as well. And I really enjoyed the humor throughout thanks to the witty banter between the two.

Lost Legacy really feels like it chopped all the monotony out of 4, more fully realized a lot of the new things 4 was trying, and formed a tighter, better game because of it.

Stupid OCD. Looks like I'll be exploring everywhere in chapter 4 for the tokens, now that I was told there are
11
of them.

I love the new animations. So different than UC4.

UC3 was mainly modern areas or the market in one city. It was mainly desert in another section. Even the lost city wasn't really that interesting.

3 and Tll have by far the best combat encounters. 3 also had a lot of stupid impressive set pieces in terms of scope, and the ship graveyard level alone makes the game worth the ride. I started the franchise with the 3rd and cant understand that utter praise of the 2nd. Last half of the game lost steam hardcore + encounters were mostly repeating themselves to the point that you could predict the enemies you d face.

Yeah I did it mainly for that trophy. Glad to hear it's not that annoying. Should it get to frustrating I'll just bump down the difficulty.

Go to the ? location marked on your map, explore the area, and Chloe will mark the location of every token.

Unless you've already done that. In which case, you know, nevermind.

Just finished. Goddamn I think I might like this one as much as UC2.

Oh and easily the best final boss fight in the series, I think. The other ones have managed to be atmospheric climaxes to the narrative and stuff but this one was FUN.

Reminded me of (non-Uncharted movie spoiler, over ten years old)
the end of Death Proof lmao

Credits are rolling as I type this. Finished the game at 5.5 hours. Man, what a great game. They took all of the best parts of Uncharted 4 and cut out some of the bloat, making for a lean and mean experience. Excellent banter, puzzles, and combat encounters. In any other year this would be a front runner for GOTY, but this is 2017, and we've already had Persona 5, Breath of the Wild, and Nier. But damn this was too fun to put down. More, please.

I found parts of the
train sequence to be a bit annoying (dropped down at the end of a train car only for Chloe to land, right on the edge of the platform and decide to just fall in between) but man that fight against Asav... holy shit, they pummeled the fuck out of him. It was fantastic. I want more Chloe+Nadine adventures.

Figured I would add that I finished in just under 8 hours, which included getting all of the tokens. If you skip that section 7 hours is definitely reasonable.

$40 though.

3 has the worse encounters and story in the series, and the set pieces, while impressive, feel awkwardly jammed into the plot rather than the natural pacing of 2. Like the ship graveyard and cruise ship felt like such a pointless and overlong tangent just so they can fit in the capsizing cruise set piece.

2 has the best pacing, best balance of action, puzzles, and slower character beats (at least until Lost Legacy), and the most varied set pieces. Stuff in 2 like the tank cat & mouse and the train are level-length set piece encounters that are more than just cool scripted moments

The level design in 3 made them really good. The whole ride after the plane crash had some really tight moments that were mixing pretty well cqc and long range combat

And the whole part in the atlantis of the sands easily outdid shambhala in terms of pace

the trainyard.
Man, I hate having to put this game down. I just feel like playing it all the way through. It's so fun and satisfying.

Escayg and Margenau are definitely rising stars at Naughty Dog. Hope they're given something meaty to tackle next.

I don't even care really. The graveyard and cruise ship were amazing, and then the desert was a nice burn afterwards.

Sad they couldn't do better with the villains though.

Escayg was the co-director of 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand

No wonder Lost Legacy is so good

The game's wide-linear section also contains what I'd consider to be something pretty setpiece-y in terms of design, even if it's not full of scripted destruction or anything. I thought that was pretty brilliant. This game feels like it's better than UC4 at allowing you a lot of possible approaches to a given encounter, even though all of its tools (bar the lockpicking) came from UC4.

I'm liking the game quite a bit but damn, this is the loudest I've heard my Pro get so far, it's just as bad as my original PS4.

I really hope the X1X is quiet, it's really annoying during quiet parts of the game. And it's usually not a problem with my Pro but I guess they didn't get it to the point where it's still quiet under stress.

Is it okay for this to be my first Uncharted game? Should I play any of the previous games before starting this one?
Buy the Nathan Drake Collection. It's like $20 for some pretty important and neat games.

The Lost Legacy absolutely stands on its own two feet but it is better and most rewarding having come to it as the 5th main game in the series.

Getting ready to start my play through. But, I have one question. Do you get to play as Nadine in the game? I haven’t watched many videos or reviews so I’m going in blind for the most part...

Is this to find all
11 tokens?
I thought they're scattered around and it's your job to find them.

What makes you think that some stuff was overlong ? I know that 3 is one of the most divisive but its surprising that most of people on the net seems to really not like it that much

Why were they amazing? I don't get it. The cruise ship just turns into running through hallways when they could've done a bunch of cool stuff with the water rushing into combat areas and the rolling of the ship over. The plane is just the terrible grunt melee encounter followed up be about 20 second of combat that is still cut short. The visuals were impressive, but they weren't actual levels like Uncharted 2's train and tank village, which is what made those parts what they were.

3 wanted to be as cool as 2 but just wasn't fleshed out at all.

The graveyard is good. A lot of the parts of 3 that weren't trying to be over-the-top-setpieces were actually pretty good. I think that's part of why 4 is what it is.

Yeah still on Chapter 3 but five years after Mass Effect 3 we got Andromeda from a B team, one year after Uncharted 4 we got this.

Lost legacy and horizon are killing my pro too. Havent played lost guardian yet but i assume it ll be as bad lol

Only ended up taking me about 6 hours and honestly it felt perfect. It felt more like 8 hours but even with it taking 6 it felt exactly as long as it needed to be. Great pacing, really good, fun hearted writing that's a different type of fun from Nate's adventures.

Edit: Also Chloe and Nadine is the best duo in the series.

They may as well have just called this Uncharted 5 instead of a spin-off title.

But yes, I need, crave more. Nadine + Chloe 4 Life. I think it's about time they ventured to the Far East for a future Uncharted game.

Anyone got tips for the first fight in Chapter 6 on Crushing? Getting my ass kicked here...
I honestly think that's the hardest section in any Uncharted game ever on Crushing for me.

It took me several hours. Here is my strategy and I feel like unless you're just a master of the control scheme and knowing your surroundings, stealth is the best decision.

Stick to the outside left grass. Go to the first 'bunker' with C4 in it and the silenced pistol. There's a guy on top who paces back and forth, and a guy who will periodically look in to the room. Get the pistol and C4.

Everyone is probably going to go in to suspicion mode anyways so don't worry about it and try to headshot the non-helmet guys. The more you can thin the people who can spot you, the better.

Make your way on the outer edge towards where Nadine is in the back. There's an orange crate with a RPG and on the other side another C4. There's a third C4 a little further up on your left. It's completely out in the open so you're going to have to time it correctly.

At this point, I'd think about C4'ing the APC. This will cause more guys to scatter and you should be able to thin more guys out in the grass because they'll be looking everywhere.

It takes 4 + 1 RPG shot on crushing to disable it.

Hope that's semi-intelligible. Really a huge pain in the ass and a big difficulty spike. I can only see to do it reasonably, and consistently through pure stealth. Good luck.

Why are people so surprised that it is making their PS4 Pro fans kick in? Have they not seen how the game looks and runs? It's a technical masterpiece and is pushing the system to it's very limits. Of course It is going to produce heat.

I legit have never heard anyone praise UC3's combat encounters. They are legit what stands out in my mind as what I hated the most out of that game. Bullet sponge enemies that can one shot you even on normal difficulty, enemies spawning behind you constantly. The ship graveyard area still sticks out in my mind, I raged so hard at that point. UC3's encounters were so bad that I was almost dreading UC4 following in it's footsteps but the improvements on stealth and all of the water areas that helped give you another advantage made the combat so much more fun.

Thank you, that's pretty much the strategy I have been using, except for the
C4 on the other side of the RPG crate
, that will be useful. I'll just keep on trying, but I agree, this has to be one of the hardest fights in all Uncharted games on Crushing.

The intro to Lost Legacy is amazing stuff.
So well paced and it feels like the graphics are improved over UC4 which is mad.

Up to chapter 4 now and like everyone else I'm taking my sweet ass time here, really impressed with this massive space and all the encounters/puzzles.

Didn't realise how much I'd missed UC4 until playing this.

Kurt, Shaun and the entire ND team take a bow.

There's sort of a useful bug in how Chloe will grab stuff. Sometimes as long as you can get the icon to appear, you can grab things from like 3 feet away. That ended up helping me a lot.

I don't want to complain about that section because I really like the idea of it and Crushing is called Crushing for a reason but your margin of error on that part is razor thin and you can be spotted from 6 different directions at times.
It's why I like heads hotting the non-helmets and the RPG guy in the back right on that tower to limit the eyes on you.

It very much became an endurance test in how I was accomplishing it by letting guys wander over to me once I had 3-4 C4. Also, sometimes the APC will literally run over guys and kill them for you which seemed like a nice bonus after my 30th attempt.

Good luck! You will eventually do it if I could.
