Uncharted: The Lost Legacy |OT| Ladies Trip

The music, unfortunately, is the weakest in the series. Edmonson's more ethnic type of score could've been great with a game set in India. It seems like ND has chosen to go the more traditional "hollywood" route with its music. It was the same in UC4 but that at least had some memorable pieces, most notably "For Better or Worse".

The only memorable piece of music in Lost Legacy is the title track and I don't think you actually hear it in the game. Apparently it's Chloe's Theme.
I cannot understand how ND can look at what they had with Uncharted 2 and 3 and then ditch that for what we got with Uncharted 4 and LL. It's sad. The only thing I remember from LL is the most generic Indian-sounding instrument plucked a couple times.

I'm loving this so far. Nadine and Chloe balance off each other so well.

The presentation and cinema is so impressive too.

Rally not a fan of nadines accent. Sounds really forced

It kind of is.

Been following Die Antwoord stuff lately and watched Chappie not long ago.

I can hear the spots Bailey focuses on her pronunciation, but overall it's a really weak Afrikaans accent.

Finished it. What an incredible ride. There is only one chapter in there that felt too much like Uncharted 4 with its forced platforming and walking sections, but everything else was perfect.

I have no idea how they managed to make this game in a little over a year. Sure, the locations arent as varied as they were in the previous three games, and there arent as many setpieces as there were in U2 and U3, but i cant believe these guys turned around and made a nearly 8 hour Uncharted game in a year .... all the while fixing some major issues with U4.

How in the world did they make the puzzles so interesting? Zelda only came out a few months ago so that couldnt have been the inspiration or maybe they the 2 hour E3 demo and decided thats what they wanted. I loved pretty much every puzzle.

The combat was great because they realized that no matter how improved the shooting feels, you need something more than just cover shooting in 2017. Loved how the incorporated smaller setpieces within the shooting sections to add some much needed energy and variety to those shootouts.

I really liked the chemistry between the characters. the banter was extremely well written. i dont know how Naughty Dog produces these writers. Amy Henning must have trained them all or something. there are so many little interactions here that i cant even list of a best of. all i will say is that it is a 100x better than U4 which had zero chemistry between Sam and Nate because they were basically the same person. always cracking the same jokes. no tension. no real surprises. the couples counseling chapters were the highlight of uncharted 4 because there was some tension between characters. Some uneasiness. I loved how Chloe and Nadine's relationship grows. its natural. it's well acted and a lot of it is done within gameplay. little moments here and there that really show how talented Naughty Dogs really are.

It also goes to show you can make an action packed game and still have those little moments without slowing the game down and padding it with walking and platforming sections or chapters with zero gameplay.

Lastly, I would like to say that i would love a full blown $60 sequel to this game. I want something that lasts 10-12 hours. Make it a globe trotting adventure like Uncharted 3 and Uncharted 4 with lots of locations to discover. bring back some of the old cast. bring back the setpieces from Uncharted 2 and 3. the tank cat and mouse boss fight, the ship sinking sequence, the plan crash etc. and improve them with the grappling hook. And to keep things fresh, embrace the series' mythical roots. go full game of thrones, dragons, white walkers, have boss fights and setpieces involving tigers, bears and giant mythical bosses.

Oh and include at least two chapters like Chapter 4. Give these talented team two years. Give Neil a different team to make TLOU 2, but let these guys make another Uncharted. They know what makes Uncharted fun and they know how to make fun games.

Generic? I couldn't disagree more.

Lost Legacys OST walks over UC 1-3's soundtrack. Aside from Nate's theme, I can't even think of many tracks from the first three games that I like.

Chloe's theme alone is the better than anything in past UC games.

Clearly someone has gone into your brain and wiped your memories of UC1-3 music.

Uncharted 2 - Reunion
Uncharted 2 - City's Secret
Uncharted 3 - Atlantis of the Sands (0:38)
Uncharted 1 - Drake's Elegy
Uncharted 3 - Boarding Party
Uncharted 1 - Drake's Theme (I probably don't need to link this one but I'm gonna)
Uncharted 2 - Bustin' Chops

Chloe's theme sounds maybe slightly better than the tracks I skipped over after 2 seconds while looking for the above.

Edit: And oh my god how could I forget to look for this one

I agree with this. The music is outstanding - that Main Menu, and the
when chloe cries
scene are awesome pieces and I'm SURE I've heard one more awesome one during a fight...

UC3 has one of the best OSTs ever, what are you on about? LL's is terrible.

Didn't think the music was memorable at all to be honest, I certainly don't think it touches the soundtrack of Among Thieves or Drake's Deception.

Man, I'm in chapter 8 right now. I think this is my favorite Uncharted game. The scene
with the elephants was wonderful. It reminded me of the bit with the giraffes in Last of Us.

Tbh outside of the main theme, I don't remember much standing out from the original trilogy in terms of music. That's not to say Jackman's work is great or anything, but for me personally it didn't feel like too much of a stepdown. I also really dug the Nate/Elena music in U4.

With that being said I'm so fucking glad that Jackman isn't replacing Gustavo for TLOU2, that would be an unquestionably huge downgrade

Yea...

Most of these tracks aren't doing anything for me.

UC3 has one of the best OSTs ever, what are you on about? LL's is terrible.

Nah.

I'm listening to Chloe's theme (for like the third time since this conversation started) and I have literally no clue how it is anything more remarkable than the ones I linked. Is it the sitar? The violin?

Like Nate's theme, it evokes a feeling that has an incredible sense of place within the game. The rest of the tracks I can do without tbh. I'm not a fan of Jackman or UC1-3.

The only ND game with a great soundtrack that I've played is TLOU. The rest are forgettable.

But yet XboxGAF is jumping up and down for seeing Lara in 4K on Xbox One X.

I'm like... You guys do rememeber that one of the biggest problems with the Lara Croft reboot games is her as a character???

What's wrong with liking the in spite of the character? Not every game needs a personality-filled protagonist to be good.

I like the Reboot games but Lara, as a character, boring and untapped potential.

I'm playing Lost Legacy and Chloe is amazing. Personality bursting from everywhere.

Didn't get that from Lara at all.

Just finished. Honestly that might of been my favorite uncharted yet. Atleast the best story yet. Either way, amazing game.

Just finished chapter 5:

Pro:
-The chemistry between Chloe and Nadine is great, Chloe was already one of my favorite characters and with Lost Legacy, I am not even missing Nathan.
-Graphics and artwork look great as always.

Contra:
-I feel like the puzzles have not been on par with the rest of the series so far.
-Not a fan of the wide linear approach in chapter 3. It was ok in UC4 but I think the went too far with it.
-One of the reasons I dislike it is that I am a bit OCD and had to do all the side quests and that hurts the pacing. The reward was also shit.
-The historical aspect is not explained/presented as well as in the mainline games. Kind of reminds me of Golden Abyss in that regard.

Really enjoying it so far and I would be happy if we would get more of this side stories of Uncharted. Not getting the vibe of many posters here, who rate it as one of the best Uncharteds, though. But I am still not finished with the game so I am curious what will come.

Couldn't disagree more. The puzzles in UC are generally shite, but they were pretty good in this one.

Again, couldn't disagree more. The reward was great, and pacing-wise it was perfect since it was completely optional.

Really want to pick this up, but UC 4 pacing in the beginning is why I never played a second time. Is this anything like that? Not saying 4 was bad, but the beginning was a sloth of an opening.

Very interested in this. I haven't read anything about it, because I want to mitigate potential spoilers.

The lean pacing might be my favourite aspect of this game. It's pretty much a best of uncharted game. All killer no filler.

Puzzles I disliked:
-Water fountains for a token. While I like the controls, the platforming assists made this one a bit annoying.
-Diving for the rooster token at the elephant statue. The puzzle itself was ok but the diving game mechanics were not introduced at all beforehand (not even a button prompt in deep water). I only figured it out because I already played the series and knew you could dive.
-Jumping on the pillars and avoiding axes. The level design was weak, you could barely make out the symbols on the pillars and statues. Also, having it thrice was a bit annoying.

For the reward of the side quests,
I hoped for at least some nice dialogue or a small story bit. Instead, we got a treasure tracker which only helps trophy hunters.

Funny how much I disagree with every complaint. Lol.
axe
puzzle was based on visual cues and logical thinking. You dont even need to make out symbols - just see where their arms are at with the
swing
. If I do this, it does this so I need to do that, and then that other one does that next so i need to do this. Pretty easy.

Got to chapter 4. Pretty good so far.
I like how much faster it feels from scene to scene.
Fights don't seem to drag on for too long so far. And Chloe and Nadine are pretty interesting as a duo.

Yes, you could do the puzzle completely without the symbols but they were actually there for a reason, which makes the puzzle design quite weak.
Don't add stuff that is unnecessary.
Well, at least for the statues you had to know if they had an axe or a hammer because those swung differently

Another reason why I thought some of the puzzles were designed poorly was the camera direction. When you "activated"/read the side quest totems in the Western Ghats area, the camera zooms and pans weirdly in one direction. Usually, Uncharted and other games do that as a visual cue but here it is just some weird camera bug I guess. That didn't help with the rooster token puzzle.

Had no idea what the track was called, but I knew if it was from Uncharted 2, it'd be this one. So fricking wonderful.

I have to admit, TLL still would have benefited from less Henry Jackman. Just not an Uncharted soundtrack.

While I didn't dislike the OST, I honestly didn't notice it apart from the sections where U4's more energetic music kicks in. The main theme is nice though. But yeah, apart from it I don't remember any other new music. Will pay more attention on second playthrough.

Now that you mention it, I can't recall anything of the theme so far. But then, I can only do that for Uncharted 2 anyway.

I didn't even know there were symbols for that puzzle, like you said it's easy enough to see what going to happen by just watching the statues' movement.

I keep seeing people complain about the elephant puzzle because you're not taught how to dive before it, but I'm almost positive I dove before that point. Obviously since you can do the puzzles in any order you can go straight to the elephant, but isn't there another dive section in that chapter or am I remembering wrong?

This horse token puzzle is killing me. I'm gonna scream.

If you want the solution:
Move the big and medium pieces from the outer left to outer right. Put the small one into the puzzle.
Move the medium/big pieces from outer right to outer left one by one and put them in after.

Nadine even mention those symbols to you when you enter the room as if they were important. After all, seems like most of the people did the puzzle without them. Why even place those there then? That's not well designed.

Just wrapped up Lost Legacy and ... whoa. That was so much more than I expected. More locations. More character. More story. More action. Production values through the roof. This is a steal at $40, and beyond worthwhile for the $25 I paid immediately after it was announced that it was going to be a standalone game.

I absolutely loved the character of Chloe here, and found her rapport with Nadine to be everything I had hoped for when we first found out they were the leads. The game makes it crystal clear that Naughty Dog can pull from the Uncharted universe and build a compelling game worth playing. Yes, it borrowed heavily from prior Uncharted titles to reuse mechanics to the exclusion of building anything truly new, but I expected as much given the rapid development cycle.

I wouldn't be disappointed to see a game in the Uncharted universe during the PS5 era if they take their time advancing the gameplay further still. Then again, I'm also eager to see what they build given freedom to try their hand at an entirely new IP. Whatever they do? Day one for me.

I think the franchise will take a bit of a break tbh - TLOU2 will be god knows when - they're gonna spit shine it til perfection knowing the heavy importance that franchise has to its fans and its lineage; being GOAT for many. I doubt it'd be uncharted (hopefully savage starlight) after so I'm thinking if they want to revisit it, it won't be for another 4-5 years. It'll resurface on PS5.
