A lot of people are. Sadly Australians also have a tendency to succumb to political "fuck the current guy, lets vote for the other one" syndrome every election, even when that "other one" happens to be a homophobic racist wanker. I'd like to think my country is smart enough to make a dumb mistake like that, but we'll see.

An Aussie friend of mine always says Australians don't vote for a politician, they vote against one.

i would watch the bbc like a proper british snob but cnn's gimmicks are too hilarious. american based coverage is part of the experience, you need to flavour the overblown american excess of the whole thing, it's the ultimate conclusion to year long trillion dollar holywood elections.

lol Kentucky

so glad to be out of that shit hole. I live in Virginia now and outside of the coal mining families I haven't seen much enthusiasm for Romney at all. In fact every single person I've asked around here voted Obama.

Just moved from VA to KY for grad school.

I'm already majorly disappointed. Totally going back to VA for the PhD.

How is it a weasel out? If his poll aggregator worked any other way it wouldn't be statistics!

These are probabilities. It's "only" 90% Obama will win.. by default, 1 out of 10 times Romney will win. It's important to realize this is as far from a weasel out as possible. It is the only way statistics work.

HE won't be wrong, the polls will have been biased against Romney, which isn't something he can control.

Yeah, he can't, but that point is lost among those who don't understand the difference between what Nate does, and what other "regular" pundits will predict in the news channels or the political blogs.

Justified or not, he's still got the shield of "no matter what happens, I'm not necessarily wrong", which makes crow eating hard to do.

Right? Its the silliest argument ever, as if people that smoke a non-addictive plant, have to be high all day & at work...?

Tax it. Cut down on Mexican shipments of POT. http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/wor...ould-hurt-mexicos-cartels-study-suggests.html
Hurt the cartels.
Help fellow citizens.

Why the hell do people vote against this, its just being childish. Moderation is key to any drug. Over the counter, or with an age attached to it like Alcohol.

Claiming that everyone is just going to be stoned and rolling around committing crimes all day is not a good reason against it, and its pretty much the whole "BLACK PEOPLE AND MINORITIES GET EVIL ON DRUGS!" mentality. Whether its realized or not.

I respect, and understand your views on the issue, I'm just not convinced yet. I'm not saying your points aren't valid, they are, but there are views that oppose legalization of marijuana that make sense as well.

Alcohol still kills tens of thousands of people each year. Nearly half of all auto accident fatalities are alcohol related. We have enough shit legalized as it is. I certainly do not want some high on pot, and drunk on alcohol, jackass operating any kind of heavy equipment around me or anyone in my family. That said, I do believe consequences for possession of marijuana are too stringent and mostly unhelpful. Marijuana may not kill anyone by itself, but if it compromises judgement then it has the potential to cause unwanted outcomes. Treating it like a prescribed drug, in pill form or something, actually makes sense to me, and is something I could possibly support.

Wish I could light up and enjoy the fox meltdowns tonight but I'm currently driving up to Montreal for the rest of the week. And if shit goes bad I'll just stay here. :p

Hearing these early reports of low evangelical turnout... It appears the last "Not Romney" candidate was simply "Not Anybody".

And the cycle is complete!

On a side note, I ALMOST voted No to legalizing marijuana in CO. Not because I think it should be a banned substance (quite the opposite), but I would rather not be the first state to legalize it. Can you imagine the influx of people into CO for legal pot?

Actually useage rates are know to go down when legalized. At the very least there is very little change.
