I really don't care who wins but can anyone tell me why we still use the electoral college system? Seems outdated.

My vote was useless because I live in Texas.

Neither party wants to get rid of the electoral college because they can divert all of their funding to key battleground states and smear campaigns instead of having to spend in the other 90% of the country. They'd go broke with proportional representation or if every state worked like Nebraska.
