That nod...

Stannis' nod is going to be upstaged by a kid.

I have a feeling Arya leaving the Hound will be pushed off until next year. Can't say I'd mind. Especially if we get a few more scenes with the two of them.

Late, but does anyone know who the Cook with the giant cleaver is? If not, any chances that he's Azor Ahai, because he has enough swag to be.
I don't know why that guy was inside, he probably killed more wildlings than all the other non named characters combined

How can any of those King's Landing scenes happen next week when we have to dedicate an entire episode to Stannis's ride?

The fighting was pretty great this week. Lots of juicy combat. Unfortunately it felt pretty incomplete with STANNIS STANNIS STANNIS, and by the time it ended it felt like half an episode had gone by. They did the giants, the mammoth, and the random new stuff like the harpoon arrow and wall scythe really well though. Economical but cool. Sadly it's the tiny crowds which make some of the scenes lose impact. It's hilarious to see a HUGE fire in the background, and yet only tiny groups of 8 guys run at the wall each time. Lolz.

hmm, I just realized, the rumour about the most expensive scene ever might now actually be melisandres army clashing into the wildlings.

Once again if the finale doesn't have Stoneheart then Lena is the biggest troll ever for her social media picture. And I would bow to that greatness.

What's interesting is that they didn't say it was the most expensive scene ever, but that it was the most expensive scene in terms of dollars per second. That seems to imply that it's CG cost and that it's not a very long scene. Could definitely be dragons instead.

preview
from the preview it looks like 5 guys on horses riding down 10 wildlings, so I kinda doubt that ^^
most expensive scene is probably the dragon chaining

For the first time I have to admit I was pretty disappointed, especially after all of the hype. It just didn't seem like (apart from the giants) that a large army was attacking the wall at all. Might warm to it after a few re-watches but initial impression was "meh".

First time I recall ever being surprised when the credits rolled, like I was startled, felt short as hell, thought it was only halfway through. Great episode.

The size of the wall is definitely to big.

Somehow, for me, the death of that old giant was one of the saddest in the entire series.

You and that nod. I hope the scene has Jon killing Slynt, Jon looking up to Stannis, who is viewing the execution, and then Stannis turns around without a nod or even a hint of a smile.

stannis will look at melisandre, like a dog looks up to his master, and melisandre will nod to jon, then sam will kill slynt

I just fucked up, total accident obviously. I thought I was in this thread and made this post:

"So next episode we have to get through:

- Bran Tree
- Stannis at the Wall
- Drogon eats child
- Tyrion double kill
- Adventures of Arya and The Hound
- Stoneheart(?)

Baring in mind the episode is 66 minutes long, I don't think you need to give much more than 5 minutes for the Dany scene, and the Stoneheart reveal can be done quickly too. Devoting 16 minutes to those scenes would still leave 50 minutes left, which is the same amount of time last night's episode took."

But I wasn't. I was in the World Cup 2014 thread.

Having Stannis in this episode would have been a huge downgrade. They split it just like the books.

Stannis swooping in on the first night of the battle would have been awful and everyone would have been complaining about that instead.

The way they did it was perfect.

Plus, in the books the large army never really attacks the wall. Mance didn't want thousands to die. I don't think most of you remember much of the source material to be honest.

But you are probably right ;_;

Then Man will live in the books at least.

Better yet, a wink for maximum jimmy rustling.

(I loved that scene but if it was missing in the show I might not notice or care).

If they end next week with Stoneheart then the internet may not recover. It'd certainly be a better ending that last season's egomaniacal Daenarys surrounded by freed slaves.

I'm afraid they'll fuck up the Stannis scene.

I really am.
Oh, they will. I can already picture Jon coming out of the tent with Mance lured by the STANNIS STANNIS chant, surprised at the numerous stag flags coming forward and suddenly being hit in the head from the back and falling unconscious.

End of scene.

Brienne/Pod and Roose/Ramsay are probably not in the finale, from what I can tell.

Brienne/Pod are in the finale, she talked about a scene that hasn't happened yet in one of the pre season things. Roose/Ramsay and LF/Sansa are the ones most likely done already.

I was a bit disappointed Stannis didn't show up this week but I thought overall it was a great ep. Neil Marshall did a great job yet again. They know who to call for the big battle scenes.

Ygritte's death was nicely done but I can't really understand killing off Pyp and Grenn. There's really not that many identifiable Watch members alive now but I assume Bowen Marsh will be re-introduced next season.

Can't really believe it's the finale next week.

Guys I heard the last scene of the season will be a shot for shot remake of the end of S3.

Stannis, Davos and Mel are out in front of the Gate, and it slowly opens. All the remaining Black Brothers walk out.

One cries out, "Mhysa Mannis!"

All of them take up the chart "Mannis! Mannis! Mannis!"

Then Stannis has a little crowdsurf amongst the Night's Watch as they adoringly reach their hands towards their Mannis.

Seriously if you're going to dedicate an entire episode to the Battle for Castle Black why would you not have Mance and Stannis in it? It was alright though. I cried about Ygritte just like in the book :( Also, that one long shot around the castle was awesome.

If this happens I'll be so upset.

Well that's usually what those scenes are.. the same five people over and over again from different angles to make it look like hundreds of people. Pretty much the final swoop by Tywin & Co. in Blackwater was the same thing.

Yeah it's bonkers that they killed Pyp and Grenn. How many people on the wall do we even know now? Anybody we do know is earmarked to leave fairly soon except like Dolorous Ed but I'd be surprised if any of the Unsullied could name him.

I guess we gotta give Chekov's Little Archer Boy a name. Cain maybe, as he's the King of Nod?
