I kind of liked the pervert guy who smacked Missandrei on the ass. I hated to see him introduced so soon before losing his own head.

but thats the whole point!

if people start liking daario it means D&D really, really fucked up with the recast

Pulga, you may not get football (u support Mehdrid and Juve goddamn), but this you get. Daario is supposed to be a punchable looking dude. This recast sucks.

I don't see why people want Snaggletooth Fabio back, except for continuity's sake. Nothing about his performance or swag was memorable

I hope we'll get the same reaction video compilation treatment from Red Wedding for Joffrey's death next episode. It should be interesting to see the reactions

but his swag was memorable, and the fact that you refer to him as 'Snaggletooth Fabio' indicates his appearance was memorable to you as well

this new guy looks like any other westerosi cunt

There's gonna be a lot of new characters in that case if they go kingsmoot as well. Wonder what they'll do with Quentyn...

From a logistics perspective I wouldn't expect that they'll increase the size of the cast significantly going forward simply because retaining actors who are in occasional roles isn't easy.

Agreed.

The Hound asking for more chickens is quickly becoming one of my favorite scenes in the entire show's run.

It's just pure comic gold. Rory Mccann is brilliant.

I'm saying its more likely that Sandor is still alive than Ser Robert Strong being the Mountain, which is already extremely likely. One take on the prophecy of the valonqar is that sandor is the younger brother, and will "kill" Cersei by winning the trial by combat.

I believe in Maggy's prophesy and that Tommen and Myrcella will die before Cersei which means she's not going to lose her trial. Jaime will literally kill her.

I think the immediacy of Joffrey dying will hit them, but it'll be the Ygritte and Oberyn deaths that will hurt just like the Ned, Robb, Catelyn deaths.

Tywin death will probably end up being more memorable than Joff solely because of the situation with Tyrion, Shae building up to that moment. Joff death will be all in a midst of confusion and Sansa escape etc.

My friend asked me to spoil one thing for him, what the deal was with the necklace.

I was like... Err I probably shouldn't tell you that. 'Is it just some interesting subplot?' Errrr yeeeeeeeeeah.

Just writing that out has made me realise what the point of the Tyrell scene this episode was. Olenna will be all 'now this is a nice necklace, why couldn't my stupid family get one as nice as this blah blah blah' when she grabs the poison.

The Hound chicken thing reminded me a bit of Tarantino. It sounded almost like something he could've written.

Haven't seen enough of new Daario to judge yet, visually he's closer and portrayed by a better actor but I wish he stood out more, blue hair or not, his lack of flamboyance is disappointing but that could change. Old Daario was a bad actor that gave off creeper, date rapist vibes along with looking like a douche, Douchario?.

When they show Young Griff he's gonna look really odd being the only character with blue hair, everyone will immediately think something is up.

Unless they make it so that Tyrion doesn't have to discover who he is (or who he thinks he is) and they just tell him outright.

I doubt griff will have blue hair, since they didnt give jaqen and daario the color hair treatment either

God-DAMN that Rains playing while Tywin has Ice remade.

Fucking a.

Then it ending with a small Stark victory to remind you that they're still around.

Yeah but you can't show a character with blonde-white hair and not expect everyone in the audience to think he's a Targaryen. In the books it's estabilished it's the Valyrian look so some people in Essos look like that, in the show we've only seen Viserys and Dany.

I guess they could just show him with dark hair.

well, on the show they always handled twists differently, if they were based on visuals, which makes sense.
but in this case, since no one has seen young griff before, it will probably just be a different color than blue, maybe a red or even black, it doesnt really matter. I just doubt its going to be blue.

So, basically book Daario?

His death will also be brutal when Ser Pounce and the others eat his face. :p

Haha, that's my favourite theory. That someone's going to slip them some basilisk blood and make them go nuts like Jaqen did to the dog at Harrenhall.

The show almost always tones down GRRM's more over-the-top character descriptions, which I think is for the better. I've never felt that the blue hair, dyed bears, etc. that GRRM is so fond of actually work well in the books. I definitely don't think it would work on screen. It comes across as something I would have written on my D&D character sheet in middle school.

The show seems to have re-jigged Dany's character with Daario's recasting as well, they've made her into this playing hard to get queen instead of the girl with that desperate Daario thirst we had last season.

Yeah, I'm also glad they toned down Roose Bolton a lot. Him basically being Count Dracula wearing a pink cloak wouldn't work on screen.

Mailman just came with my new box of books (old ones were German, so blargh). Excited to read up and not be lost in translation. Also finally get to read ADWD, since I missed that one's German version.

Actually they don't. They only show in the credits when they appear in that episode.

How was it done back in Blackwater episode? I remember that the opening showed different locales, but I can't remember if only characters appearing in the episode were listed or several other major ones (e.g. Dany) too.

I REFUSE to believe Ser Pounce would become a Kingslayer. Do not besmirch his honour.

I always imagined Arya killing Tommen in a way that involves her warging Ser Pounce. All that build up around her newfound connection to cats has to be leading somewhere!

Is it just me, or did Pod look like he'd leveled up this season? I guess that brothel encounter helped.

My understanding is that the dude who plays Pod is actually a really fit former rugby player, and he intentionally fattened up a bit to play Pod in previous seasons. I think he's kinda given up on that.

There should be plenty of time considering episode 9 is strictly the battle. Episode 10 will be the aftermath, including picking a new leader to replace Allister Thorne (who I think is taking the role of Noye). What other resolution can the show end on with Jon? He'll be elected LC, no doubt.

One of the behind the scenes videos this year showed Thorne fighting Tormund against a bluescreen. I bet you Thorne gets Tormowned in Ep9.

It'd be more fitting for her to warg into Balerion (the cat, not the dead dragon). He could try and assassinate Tommen only for Ser Pounce of the Catsguard to take him out.

Kind of a boring episode...although I do like the new prince (who was it his sister had children with?) and the dragons look amazing

You're definitely in the right thread right? Unmarked book spoilers in here.

Sorry if not just didn't sound like something someone who'd read the books would say.

EDIT: oh shit, top of page,
