I just realized looking at this map that the ruins of Valyria stand approximately where Rome would be in a map of Europe. I know that those are the inspirations but I never noticed the direct geographical similarity.

All I want is a Stark reunion, no matter how brief.

Any of them, I don't care if it's just 2. I need something.

I believe the ending will be 'good'. The white walkers will be defeated if not forever, for another 10,000 years. They'll be some kind of 'peace' in Westoros. Some of our favorites will be alive and some will be dead. I think that's what he means by bittersweet.

I figured Valyria was GRRM's version of Atlantis or Pompeii (more the latter) given the description of its destruction.

Faceless Men can't be assigned to kill anyone they know. Which is also why the crew of the ship that gave Arya the trip to Braavos made sure she memorized all their names.

1) Never knew that, when was it in the books?

2) Completely forgot that about the crew. Was that when it was?

That makes me much happier.

Same.

A chance to fix up the sisters' relationship...
Why?

I thought it would be her sister or her mother until I read the above.

In Dance, Arya is present when several Faceless Men discuss someone who is owed the gift of death. A couple of people say that they know him, before someone says that they don't know him and will kill him.

Wow, I don't even remember reading this, guess it's time for a reread.....OF THE ENTIRE SERIES.

Valyria is definitely based on Rome. Both were military empires located on long peninsulas. High Valyrian is Latin. Valyrian roads are Roman highways. They both heavily relied on slave labor. The government resembled the Roman Senate. Etc.

Yup. Still...what if Aegon marries Sansa, and Arya is tasked with assassinating him? And in the process is faced with killing Sansa.

It's always possible that the Faceless Men could be contracted to kill Alayne Snow. It's hard to guess Littlefinger's true plan.

I would bang a hot farmer!
Preferably Sansa and Arya. Please, George. I'm begging you.
Arya as a faceless assassin saves Sansa's life. Sansa not recognizing Arya thanks her and asks her for her name. Arya responds "I have no name but my sister used to call me Horseface" and walks away. Sansa realizes it's Arya but it's too late to go after her because she's already gone.

shut uuuuuuuuuuuuuuup
First ep was great, they nailed the Viper casting. His scenes were the best in the ep. His exposition scene (Rhaegar etc) felt a bit rushed and forced though. For those moments it's too bad we can't have flashbacks. Incredibly important info that I think many people will miss, or won't fully get.

I don't remember, in the books did Oberyn tell the story about how the septon said he was living proof that the gods are good during his first encounter with Tyrion or during another time? I hope they didn't cut that out.

I finally got around to watching the episode, and am amazed at how much Nicolas changed. Jaime looks completely different in that first scene.
Certain clothing items also seem really normal, like Dany's trousers and Jaime's wardrobe.

I rewatched the pilot and it's crazy how much everyone has aged, how their acting have gotten better but also how stilted the first season was.

Looking back it's crazy that this type of fantasy show is on the air.

This is going to happen, and it's going to destroy me.

God damn I love TV Oberyn, I was almost hoping they'd screw him up slightly but nope.

Episode 8 is gonna be a world of hurt all over again.

I highly doubt Arya will be reunited with her siblings. They will probably notice her but only for a glimpse or a moment :( I hope I'm wrong

Like what said above post

She could embrace being a faceless man but also remember to take needle. She goes back to Westoros with needle and Jon recognizes needle but not Arya?

Been rewatching the show lately, anyone else angry because of Stannis? His character is completely different from the books, it makes me angry as hell.

I admit I didn't like him at first, but as the story progresses you grow to understand why he does what does even if you don't share his ideals. Besides he is sarcastic and funny without coming as a douche like Littlefinger or Jaime. Yeah, his "jokes" are few in number, but they are very welcome when they come out.

But above all... he is not Mel's puppet, damn it! And respects Davos like a brother and follows his advice almost always. In the books he is this textbook sex obsessed stupid guy who thinks with his dick. He couldn't be more typical if he tried, it really pisses me off.

/end of rant.

Jon thinks it's someone who killed Arya and took her sword. Jon attacks in a fit of rage killing her. Arya's last words are "stick em with the pointy end".

I would burn the book in the sink if Arya started pulling Batman moves.

I think Stannis is fine on the show, and complaints about him are overstated.
