As legit as this may sound, guys, there's a reason why we've neglected to post about it on Watchers yet. I want it to be true as much as anyone else, but temper your expectations!

Do you have conflicting information from elsewhere or is it just an issue of not having solid enough sourcing to be sure?

And I still hope Ray Stevenson will emerge somewhere playing Victarion :(
Matthew McConaughey as Euron, Woody Harrelson as Victarion, show reaches GOAT Status.

And Snoop Dogg as Moqorro

In all seriousness, I'm pretty worried about how drastically different Season 5 will be. Sure we know they'll nail Daznak's Pit and The Walk of Shame but everything else is worrying. The entire Northern Storyline (IMO the best part of books 4&5) seems like it might be gutted. Dorne will be drastically different without Arianne. What is Brienne going to do?

But on the bright side, I do think that Tyrion's storyline will be much better than ADWD due to the inevitable removal of all the travelogue stuff.

I would imagine the Griffs would be huge announcements (by tv series standards) as they are supposed to be very important for the grand scheme of things. Otherwise George is trolling us. Which could be totally it.

Stevenson would have been the perfect Victarion. :(

It seems you guys have confirmed his sources now.

He also had this to say recently on westeros.org

jamiereborn: yeah if you know if the ironborn are in, that would make my day

TristanSnow: jep, in an awesome albeit altered-from-the-book-form way...

This isn't guaranteed stuff so take it with a grain of salt.

It seems weird that a guy whose supposed sources are King's Landing extras is now claiming to have intel on the ironborn and season 6. Not really sure what to think of that.

Yeah I was thinking that too but then I saw WOTW staff confirming his intel. Still doesn't mean that everything he is saying is true though.

edit: Now he is saying the griffs are in it in some way.

Extras probably interact with the cast and crew quite often, but I doubt he has the full story.

Yeah, that's my feeling. I'm sure an extra could pick something up like crew members talking about how they have to go film the ironborn stuff next week or something like that, but I can't see them getting any sort of actual rundown of how plots are being altered. I feel like at this point he's using the fact that some of his info has proven legit to exaggerate the other bits of info he has, though I'd be happy to be proven wrong.

Also, his comments on the Griffs are getting really, bizarrely cryptic now.

Of course, if he comes back and says Manderly is in I will suspend all disbelief and accept everything he says. I'm way too eager to set myself up for disappointment on that one.

Not saying that this is what I'm getting out of his posts, but just wondered how it would go if they just came out and said Young Griff was a Blackfyre and completely skipped over him being a Targ in the first place.

Yeah. Apologies to everyone here for the scepticism. He was acting quite shadily so we couldn't publish the original story. Luckily we corroborated it elsewhere anyway. This Ironborn thing is interesting, although I still find it hard to believe. If he was involved with being an extra/knowing an extra in Dubrovnik, it's extremely unlikely that he'd have any knowledge about a completely different plotline. At the same time, I do feel guilty for being suspicious initially, so...

Ha. Seems like he may be using his previous correct and authentic information to act as a base to spout bullshit.

Even so there's no way he can get information like "the ironborn are in, in an altered form from the books, in season 6" just by simply talking to the cast and crew for a little bit.

Regarding the Griffs, I really hope they're some big secret that's being kept for everyone. They appear next season on the boat with Tyrion seemingly as minor background characters and then around episode 3 or 4 it's revealed who they really are.

But it's interesting to hear what he has to say, as there may actually be some truth involved in some of the things that he is saying. I want to hear what he has to say about the Manderlys. Will Wyman be replaced by the Greatjon? Will Wyman only be in for 1 episode as a season-ending event for Davos? Will Rickon just magically reappear while Davos never leaves Stannis' side? I'm really interested to see how things play out next season.

Would certainly save a lot of time and effort if he was Blackfyre right from the start and his plan was simply to take the throne by pretending he's a Targ.

wouldn't mind Greyjoys brothers being cut at all! Weakest part of Affc and Adwd, they just come across as caricatures to me...

Kevan, lancel and the griffs all need to be in though! Would be ridiculous if they don't make it in.

No way, Damphair's stuff was pretty slow but Vic & Euron were really fun. Way easier to read than Brienne's Feast and Tyrion & Dany's Dance Arcs.

The only Greyjoy that I really love from Feast/Dance is Asha, and I don't really see them reaching that level with Yara. I like the Kingsmoot plot though. I hope it makes it to the show in some form.

Just read the Jamie storyline news - So at what point do they just say fuck it and give the show a different title? When the content being delivered is almost entirely new then it's no longer an adaptation.

The TV show is titled after the one book it follows almost 1:1 so it still works.

actually, the name of the show isn't even the title of the first book

apart from that, I always hoped the show would change a lot after the ASOS content is done, so personally I dont mind it at all.

Speaking of titles does anyone else think it's weird that every single book starts with "A" except Winds of Winter?

I always thought that it was because TWOW will be the book where shit goes down like never before in the series. At least that's my hope.

We already know from ADWD that TWOW will BEGIN with two major battles and a few significant confrontations. It's going to be absolutely insane.

Betting on a July 2015 release, really hope I'm right this time.

I don't dig the new Jaime plot very much. We'll get more

Bronn, but he will probably die so :(

Anyway, this season is filler until the Greyjoys come along.

Agreed with this. My hope is that they somehow bring Yara up to somewhere near Asha levels of cool, and that at some point, even if there's no kingsmoot, she gets to dramatically dump out a bunch of rocks and pinecones. The other Greyjoys I'm ok with losing, though I think Euron is being set up as important enough that he'll probably be in eventually.

I'm ok with losing the Griffs, since that always felt like a really random twist to me, and it was even less foreshadowed in the show than it was in the book. I'm bummed about losing Arianne, but I can see how the story probably works better without her once the Griffs are gone. Quentyn was kind of a foregone conclusion that he wouldn't make it in.

Manderly is really my one holdout for characters not cast that I desperately want in.

I'm ok with it so far. The Jaime in Riverrun scenes are fantastic and I'll miss them, but they are kind of filler, and Blackfish is already on the run in the show, so they're not really needed. Using him to intro Dorne makes sense, and it's not like it's out of character for him to go after Myrcella. The teen romance stuff may end up sucking, but if it does, at least it will be satisfying in the end when it all ends in disaster and faces being lopped off?

I hope I'm wrong, but I feel like this Myrcella and Trystane thing is going to be garbage. lol

Yeah, it kinda looks that way, but who knows? Maybe it'll end up ok.

I wonder without Arianne or Darkstar (for he is of the night) what will trigger Areo to chop heads. Maybe Jaime commands Bronn to "rescue" Myrcella when he has a chance and then she tells Trystane, who tells his father who tells Areo who tells his axe?

Just a quick reminder that if you're going to discuss season six plot points that deviate from the books and have leaked, please use spoiler tags to do so. Thank you.

If everything we worry about is indeed cut, might as well stop calling this an adaptation and accept this is ASOIAF's Blade Runner (except worse).
Let's take a look at the books considering the rumours are true and assuming unannounced characters were cut.

AFFC has 45 chapters.
Prologue: cut.
Jaime I-VII: cut.
Aeron I-II: cut.
Victarion I-II: cut.
Arianne I-II: character cut, heavily different plot.
Arys Oakheart I: cut.
Sansa I-II: cut, replaced in S4.
Sansa III depends on harry the heir, which seems to be out.
Cersei I-X: Kevan and most of the small council/Kingsguard seem have been cut, which should reduce most of the plotting, meetings and intrigue. Mace is going to Braavos, there won't be any attack on Shield Islands, so most of the story will be related to the Faith and the High Septon.
Brienne I-III cut, IV-VI depends on her going to Crackclaw Point and Quiet Isle (which I doubt), VII depends on Gendry returning, because Biter and Rorger are already dead. VIII depends on LSH, so yeah, cut as far as we know. Overall I believe we should expect at least 90% of Brienne scenes to be new,
Arya I-III: This one should be fairly close to the book.
Samwell I-V: a question mark, like Brienne. I wouldn't expect him to get as much screen time as his whole trip would need, but Gilly and Aemon are well known characters, so we should get at least the whole baby thing and Aemon's death. Their dialogue and some scenes could be pretty strong television, and taking the character to the Citadel would be pretty cool, but I wouldn't get my hopes up.

That's easily more than half being cut.

As for ADWD, there are 72 chapters.

Prologue: cut.
Quentyn I-IV: cut.
Davos I-IV: cut.
Victarion Greyjoy I-II: cut.
Jon Connington I-II: cut.
Asha I-III: not part of the main cast, will probably replace Vic/Aeron if they're out, so probably cut.
Reek I-II were allready adapted, III-VII who knows, probably condensed and most of it cut in S5.
Jon, Barristan and Dany are question marks, and although most of it should stick to the book, together they have 27 chapters, so only the most crucial bits will be adapted for a single season.
Tyrion I-IV will be very different due to no Griffs, and the same should apply to later chapters without several minor characters.
Epilogue: cut.
Bran I cut, II adapted in S4, III[/B ]should be fairly close and the rest should be dreams/flashbacks.
Melisandre I: we never see her visions, Rattleshirt is MIA since S3 and his execution won't work on TV, as someone pointed out. Still, we should get some Melisandre scenes that reveal her plans and intentions.

ADWD will obviously get more content because of Jon, Tyrion and Daenerys, but it doesn't look good either.

Hm. I wouldn't be so sure about
Kevan
being cut since it looks like
Lancel is returning next season and we haven't heard an official announcement yet. Plus, from what I recall, one of the articles linked in this thread mentions Cersei heading toward a "Kevan-like figure at the end of her Walk of Shame.

Edit: Here's the link.

Just to clarify about the Kevan scenario:
I didn't write that to be coy or anything. Our source honestly wasn't sure if it was Kevan (Ian Gelder) or not. However, the fact that there was a man who looked like him in the company of Qyburn and the Mountain would seem to indicate that it is indeed him... who else could it be?
