Yeah I don't get the hate for the whole maggie the frog section it doesn't diminish Cersei's character in my opinion.

It just feels cheap to take a character who was already believably written through three books, and to throw all that out and say that no, really all of her personality stems from her experiences with a mystical prophecy. Like, it feels like GRRM suddenly got nervous that Cersei's behavior was too over the top, and the sudden and violent loss of her son and her father wasn't enough to justify that, so he retconned in a bit of silliness to explain things that never needed explaining.

Does the prophecy happen before Tyrion is born?

All of her personality? Come on now. Her hatred of Tyrion isn't the only aspect of her personality.

Ok, that's obviously an overstatement, but her paranoia is definitely a large part of her personality. Her hatred of Tyrion is one part of that, as is her protectiveness over her children. The valonqar stuff is definitely intended to be the formative event for Cersei as a person, not just for her hatred of Tyrion.

Does the prophecy happen before Tyrion is born?

I actually don't know. I don't think so?

- EW: ‘Game of Thrones’ coming to IMAX with season 5 trailer
Game of Thrones is headed to theaters — along with the first trailer for season 5.

HBO is releasing a Game of Thrones “movie” into IMAX theaters later this month comprised of the final two episodes of the show’s fourth season. If that weren’t enough to excite fans, the screening will also include an exclusive trailer for the upcoming season. Thrones will air in 150 IMAX theaters for one week beginning Jan. 23. According to IMAX, this will mark the first time a TV series has been showcased in the format.

That means last year’s action-filled Battle of the Blackwater episode will get ultra-big-screen treatment, along with the season’s Emmy-nominated finale, “The Children.” For fans, the move represents a rare opportunity to see TV’s most lavishly produced series in a large-screen format. The episodes will be digitally re-mastered to be compatible with the immersive IMAX format.
There have also been reports of a season 5 preview special that will air on HBO, possibly as soon as February. We’re told those details are still being worked out.

I'm probably confused, but isn't imax a different aspect ratio than regular widescreen content?

If it is filmed with IMAX cameras for the full IMAX experience, yes. But for the vast majority of stuff screened in IMAX cinemas, they generally retain whatever aspect ratios it comes in. Stuff isn't cropped, they just don't use the full height of the projection screen. This seems like a promotional gimmick for fans, so it'll just be the TV episodes projected on a really big screen.

OK, got it. The wording about it being 'digitally remastered' had me thinking that it'd be made to be 'proper' imax, necessitating a crop of some kind.

Don't they mean the battle at the wall....

Too bad we don't have IMAX here, at least not yet.

All of her personality? Come on now. Her hatred of Tyrion isn't the only aspect of her personality.
There's her hatred for Margaery, which explained away by the prophecy. Her hatred of Robert, which is explained away by the prophecy. Her fierce over protection of Joffry despite acknowledging that he was a cruel psychopath, also explained away.

Those other two might be correct but come on do you seriously think her hatred of Robert had nothing to do with the fact that Robert was a drunken abusive husband who constantly floundered his adultery in front of her face.

Well, Maggy gave her a heads up on the adultery.

But the obsession over prophecies and their interpretation is one of the most central theme of the book series. Everyone does it. Cersei is just very extreme in her fear and pursue of that prophecy she's been told.
I don't see it as an attempt to explain Cersei's over the top-ness away, but rather fitting her into this whole chase after prophecies and dreams, but as an extremist.

Flashback maybe and perhaps his corpse? Assuming they do the sept scene?

Despite the fact that they're doing flashbacks this year, I suppose I shouldn't get my hopes up for Rheagar.

Certainly not this season, I think that if we ever see Rhaegar it's only going to be once and for one reason.

Well, Maggy gave her a heads up on the adultery.
It was Jaime who told her. Robert hurt her and raped her. Killed Rhaegar, hit Joffrey and was an idiot. She had many reasons to hate him.

She would hate Margaery either way. The prophecy is what gets her to want her dead. When did she acknowledge Joffrey was a monster? The Cersei from the books is every bit as monstrous as he for no reason than that she doesn't give a shit about others.

But the prophesy doesn't explain her entire personality, just a part of it. And to be fair she was pretty damn vain and jealous before she heard the prophesy.

If the ticket prices are right I can see myself going to the IMAX showing. Had to battle sunlight and piss poor black levels while watching the night heavy battle scenes last year, so it would be nice to see them on a big screen with a proper sound setup in the dark.

Any more than $15 and I'm not interested.

Kit Harrington filmed a section of a scene that took a month to shoot. I wonder what scene it was for.

I can't think of anything from the book that would take that long. Even if it was something they made up, a month is a long time to for part of a scene.

Also, does anyone think they are going to cut off Slint's head for hiding during the battle or wait until John is officially commander?

They were probably shooting stannis nodding for a month.

jon already got his power nod in the show, I doubt they'll make stannis nod, too, that would be silly

I think making it for hiding during the battle would kinda shatter the whole development of Jon as Lord Commander; he takes Slynt's head for disobeying and undermining Jon's authority constantly, and to send a message to Thorne.
So yes, they probably are going to have him killed for being a coward.

I always thought that the Maggy the Frog prophecy was about Sansa in someway.

If the Queen that she referred to was Margaery, how does that jive with her children dying? If Tommen dies, Margaery loses more than Cersei, as Cersei is still the mother of Myrcella, who would be Queen.

The Queen that would take everything she holds dear would thus have to be either Dany or Sansa (and I feel it would be fitting if Sansa, who received a crash course about the game of thrones from Cersei, took all she held dear)

No one is saying the prophecy refers to Margery but Cersei certainly thinks it does which explains her rampant paranoia towards Margery in the 4th book.

- WiCnet: HBO Accidentally Confirms April Debut for Season 5
HBO PR for their GoT Exhibition said:
Visitors will journey to the top of the iconic 700ft Wall by stepping into a physical recreation of the Castle Black winch elevator and wearing the Oculus Rift virtual reality headset and a pair of headphones. From that moment on, they will find themselves inside a virtual version of the elevator – one that looks, sounds and feels extremely real, providing an unprecedented, immersive Game of Thrones experience.

The exhibition will showcase over 70 original artifacts used on set from seasons 1-4 plus select never-before-seen pieces from Season 5 premiering in April 2015.
It's looking likely that it will premiere April 5th, as a lot of people were guessing.

I took some time over the last few days to watch the historical shorts on my blu ray sets. These are really amazing and I'm surprised I didn't watch them sooner. Robert's rebellion with Varys and Little Finger making quips to each other was my favorite.
