Until Dawn has gone gold.

What about the scene(s) where Typical Dumb Teenager #36885 is quite aware there's danger lurking around every corner, yet still heads into darkened areas without a source of light, a weapon, or any means of contact with, well, everyone else?

Chug three bottles and die of alcohol poisoning before the game even starts. Captain Morgan would be the culprit causing my death.

I want to get this game but watching the videos on YouTube the frame rate is really jarring to me. I don't think I could sit through it, evil within killed me and j bought that and can't play it because of this.

A single playthrough is 8 hours long? I thought each was estimated around 2 hours, like movie length.

They're trying to encourage replaying to see all of the different choices in action, 8 hours a piece would be overkill

Devs are saying 10 hours, previews are saying 7-8.
The whole game isn't like that demo they showed where the audience was shouting what qtes to press, that just mechanic at certain points. Its not as similar to a telltale game as a lot of people are thinking it is.
Read a preview or a video, the game looks excellent...but a slasher movie version of a telltale game it is not.

I'll probably wait for this game to be ~$20 like The Order. At least it is longer and looks better than that game. I hope it is successful in the reviews.

Day 1, hope it doesn't suck.

Also, fuck the Trophies, because I'm not replaying an 8 hour Choose Your Own Adventure game multiple times.

Incoming Order 1886, LittleBigPlanet 3 or Knack?

Looks like Heavy Rain and Resident Evil 1 had a baby together. Never heard of this developer before though, so I'm definitely cautious, especially given this used to be a Move game.

Best wishes.

I'm fully expecting this to be an adult, video game equivalent of this:

... And I am ALL for that.

Bring it on. This is going to be a blast to play.

YASSSSS So excited.

Wow, that's nuts. (I've been avoiding previews for the most part just because I'd rather not spoil the outcomes of some choices)

Not sure if I'll pick it up day one but I'll totally give it a shot at some point

I played it last year. It was pretty good.

Will certainly buy it later this month.

Really good to hear. I definitely think it's possible it'll be great, I'm just slightly worried that it'll be more style over substance (more so than games like Heavy Rain), and suspicious because they haven't shown very much of it. Like, I could imagine it being 5 hours long and not having that much replayability despite the various choices you have.

Anyone, feel free to refute me and prove me wrong.

Out of curiosity, what makes you say that?

(I agree with the rest of your sentiments.)

See above! But also I see it as a title in the same spirit as Heavy Rain. But Heavy Rain tempted us with a focused murder-mystery plot, with the tension that characters could really die. In this game, it sounds like it almost doesn't matter if characters die - it's a slasher flick. And we all basically know how slasher flicks play out 99% of the time anyway.

I could be totally wrong, but basically I'm worried it could be Heavy Rain - minus the great plot, which is what makes games like this good in the first place. I'm worried it might be an empty, although briefly thrilling, experience.

As mentioned before – I'll be very happy if I'm totally off the mark.

The PSX showcasing suggested that this will be at least a very good party game.

I can definitely dig that.

I don't think so. Hayden's towel stubbornly clings to her like food wrap in the demo they showed at E3.

Well, expecting Hayden to get all digitally naked doesn't seem realistic, but one of the minor characters? There will be tits.

How can it be a cheesy slasher movie without tits?

I can totally understand that. I am still on the fence if I am getting it on launch, or waiting more towards Halloween. Depending on how people rave about the story/variety or not (keeping you gripped) is what will solidify that decision as to when.

Definitely looking forward to it in a few weeks. Hopefully it comes out solid, this seems like a blast and basically like playing a horror movie.

That's how I've been approaching the game, as well.

After years of hard work the team must be thrilled to finally be done and instead working on the day one patch.

I kid, sort of, cause, well, it's true.

Anyway, not the point.

Am psyched! Have had this preordered for a while, am genuinely hoping for a horror version of the Heavy Rain experience, but I'm open minded.

Huh? What are you talking about. I'm someone who cares a lot about boxart, and even prints my own covers if I think the art isn't up to my standards (hello ICO), but I'm more than happy with Until Dawn's.

*snip*

That is a pretty awesome cover, if you ask me.

Cover looks really good IMO.

Cover looks good but i'd rather have Hayden on it. Maybe have the skull hourglass on the left with Hayden on the right.

This game better have tits or heads will roll!!!

I don't know how could be considered a real game than a simple interactive movie. From what I see it's basically a QTE fest. Tastes are tastes, but if people hated The Order so much because it's too much cinematic, gameplay wise, this game could getting even worse.

Release is August 25th right? I'll need something to make me forget about the phantom pain for a few days. This game looks great from what I've seen in the previews. If it's anything like heavy rain I'll enjoy it a lot.

I think the order tried to pretend it was something else. This game we sorta of know what we are getting.

They're not hiding what this game is though.

What makes a real game?

Where that Jim Sterling video about this.

They been upfront on what it would be.

A game inspired by stuff like heavy rain and cheesy 80's slasher films.

I think this can review pretty well if they get the feel right.

Loved Fahrenheit, Heavy Rain and Beyond Two Souls. They were flawed, but that didn't stop me from enjoying them in a solo environment and then even more when I played pass the controller with 3 friends.

I haven't seen a lot of Until Dawn since that live demo where the audience was shouting for what QTE's the guy should pick. I had no idea this was out next month. This might make me pull the trigger on a PS4.

Will there be boobies?

Nope.

Content Descriptors: Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Sexual Themes, Strong Language

Every horror movie has a sex scene or two. Dunno why this game doesn't since it's trying to emulate them.

Gameplay. There is no gameplay here. You have just to push some button when the prompt appears on the screen.

Nice opinion. Are you just in this thread to troll? I'm sure there's other sites for that.

Where exactly I'm trolling? I just express an opinion. :/

This not what I intend for a game.

Good thing every one doesn't share your views then. There is a market for these "non-games". Why are you even in this topic if that is how you feel?

Had a chance to play this last week. Framerate was horrendous which was surprising as the game itself didn't particularly stand out graphically, especially after playing Battlefront. I guess it was not a final build but they would need to improve quite a bit to make it smooth.

Controls were also pretty clunky whilst walking around, it makes you move frustratingly slowly a lot of the time which I guess is realistic but frustrating in a game none the less.

Overall I was not really feeling it. I enjoyed Farhenheit and Heavy Rain and the style was similar here to those games but it didn't feel as engaging to me as those games. I am guessing this will review mid/low 7s from the small segments I played, perhaps the rest of the game is a lot better...
