At this point I've given up on writing off the Vita. Everytime I think 'in a few months time it's going into a drawer for a well-deserved retirement' it keeps on claiming it's got another year of work inside it.

This gives me much more faith that we'll get Romancing SaGa 2 & 3 in the west now. Wow, didn't even have to beg for this one like we did with Adventures of Mana.

Weird situation. Vita games from Bandai-Namco and Square-Enix confirmed in the west for 2018. And nothing coming from XSEED. Who released PSP games in 2015.

OT: Factotum 90 is out this week:

Maybe they've been busy, and will continue to be so throughout 2018, localizing the Evolution games :p
I know, I know, you guys don't need to say it.

EDIT: I'm gonna avoid that Secret of Mana Remake thread. It might be shaping up to be something ugly. To many disappointed Gaffers don't like the visuals, as if they've never heard of Adventures of Mana. That's how I know the majority aren't Vita owners.

I'm so far behind on Vita backlog that it would take me until 2019 to play everything even if no more games released, but yeah... it's pretty insane. The dead handheld that kept on giving.

Between that and the Switch port begging it's not great, but I've seen worse.

I'm actually beginning to wonder whether we'll get some PSX announcements from Gio this year too. I'd written 2016 off as the last year but... it's looking promising, especially since Samurai Shodown V Special is coming.

It's just, he's got no more LucasArts games left to do haha. They've grabbed all the ones Tim Schafer was involved in.

i think gio is going to gio, but 2017 had some big franchises and 2018 doesn't seem like it will. the system is going to be 6 years old in 2018 and i think sony is even winding it down in japan. localizations should continue in the form of digital games and limited physical runs though. i think the persona dancing stuff should make it, along with some other stragglers that are on ps vita. not coven though. never coven.

I seem to manage to do a great job of summoning you with my posts.

I think Persona should come, and we're already getting Digimon/Mana and probably Romancing SaGa too. That's honestly a lot, lot more than I expected. Gio may well announce nothing, it's not like his games are particularly high-profile anyway, but maybe Deus Ex Go will get the port treatment and another SNK game.

It's just kinda surprising that we've had a shift where big companies like Bamco and Squeenix still have games coming and PSP stragglers like XSEED have nothing. Such is life I guess. At least NISA are still there (hey, maybe Coven one day right?)

What are your thoughts on Zanki Zero's chances?

I had to google the name of the game, I didn't remember what it was. I think Aksys might pick it up instead.

It's a strange one. It was clearly announced far too early in development and I don't think we're going to hear anything substantial until next year at the earliest.

Aksys possibly too I guess, they did grab Exist Archive.

i seriously wouldn't get your hopes up about coven. i know it gets brought up a lot but next year the vita will likely be more a digital place.

zanki zero is probably a 2019 game for the us or europe. march-april or so? hard to say with it being a 2018 game in japan most likely. at that point it would most definitely be a digital release and probably only if the companies localizing it agree that the sales can cover the overhead costs.

I've swapped my Danganronpa pre-order from PS4 to Vita. Persona 5 just didn't feel right on PS4 and I reckon Danganronpa would feel even worse. Those series just belong on Vita for me personally.

I'm so far behind on Vita backlog that it would take me until 2019 to play everything even if no more games released, but yeah... it's pretty insane. The dead handheld that kept on giving.

Likewise. Danganronpa is almost definitely the last new game I'll be buying for the platform, but the PS Plus well runs deep and should keep me using my Vita for another year or two at the very least.

Digital would be fine. Disappointing, but fine. With the way you've been talking lately I assume it'll be PS4/Switch/PC though, but I'd still find it weird if NISA skipped it on Vita altogether.

If they do localize it for PS4 and Switch, there is no reason not to bring over the digital version for Vita. I mean, that's what they are doing for Money Hungry Princess and Longest 5 Minutes.

In Europe there is usually a smaller LE for PQube titles, just with the artbook and some nice packaging. Couldn't find this for the PS Vita this time, only PS4 (GAME UK). I might get the VGP release then. It lacks the packaging, but atleast has the artbook.

i've noticed PQube being weird with the Vita this year, you'd think for the platform that outsells the PS4 versions they'd be more focused on it but basically they announced and then unannounced the physical for Rabi-Ribi, their sub-publisher Badlandgames did a barebones edition for velocity 2x whilst the PS4 version got a artbook and soundtrack cd in what i think was one of those limited edition boxes.

Soooo, here in Canada, I've possibly have a lead on getting a new copy of Odin Sphere at MSRP pricing. My dilemma, should I forgo getting Mary Skelter, since it's going to be a new release and likely easy to find for a good year or so? I want both pretty badly, but I'm leaning towards canceling my Mary Skelter order, which I'm getting 20% off of.

Considering it's an IFI game, it will remain easily available and likely have a major sale (both physical and digital) within the first few months of release.

i'll probably get slaughtered saying this in here but i'd go for the PS4 version, a lot of the game modes are a bit crazy on the aspect ratio and even on my tv it gets hard to see what the hell is going on

It's an arcade shoot 'em up. Meant to be played on a big screen (on multiple screens even, see: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V4PDOr5aWpI). If you have no special love for a Vita copy, you should always get it for PS4.

Eh, I probably will, but I've enjoyed other shmups and dual stick shooters on vita. I love portability, and the small screen gives me zen like focus.

hmm. okay. i guess ps4 it is. Did you play it on vita, or just ps4?

Oh no, The Vita Lounge website is down...

----

EDIT...

But now after reading this
http://www.hardcoregamer.com/2015/1...nicle-saviors-is-what-the-vita-needed/181246/

I'm back to wanting Dariusburst on my vita. Decisions, decisions.

I think DB is ok on the Vita. Just know that the arcade mode is two widescreens side by side and its barely playable on the Vita screen, probably better on the Vita, though its probably gonna look crap blown up. The text and icons are literally unreadable. And multiplayer is non existent on the Vita version but they still have text that says Press X to start for P2.

The Chronicle Mode is fine and plays on the full Vita screen.

I haven't played the PS4 version, but I imagine its probably the better version.

Utawarerumono: Mask of Truth copies are already out in the wild.

Just.Two.More.Weeks.

The shop I preordered it from said 22/8 release, but now that the date has been here and gone they've said its delayed. Obviously a mistake. But they did get Mask of Deception like a week or so early. Hopefully it won't be much longer. :)

There's a nice trick that allows you to level up a weapon and armor at the beginning of the game that'll make you really OP.

Aaaand just bought a new vita and 32gb memory card from amazon.jp. It's kinda ridiculous how importing from Japan is cheaper than getting from the US amazon.

On a side note, it's going to be weird being able to put more games on my vita. I've only had the 8gb, so I just got used to deleting whatever I'm not playing.
