Perfect.

I might just do this myself. Not a fan of the layout of the all programs list now and don't really care about the 3 apps I have pinned. Normal start menu can be accessed by a middle mouse button click anyway when needed.

anyone still waiting on being notified that their download is ready? its almost 10pm

Why are you waiting? Just use the tool in the OP and install it now.

I'm a dumb ass. I forgot I had the computer connected via display port and the drivers likely need to be reinstalled. Connected HDMI direct and it's fine.

I dont mind the start but the live tiles are weird

as in, the only one i'd be interested in is Twitter, and that one seems to do.. nothing, other than show me the twitter icon

So are trial versions of Windows 8 not eligible for the upgrade? I built my PC a month ago and I've been holding off on buying windows because I thought it was going to be free for everybody. I thought Microsoft said it would be "Free for legitimate and illegitimate Windows users". Were they only talking about pirates, and as a trial versionier I'm out of luck?

Got annoyed with waiting for it to decide when I could download Windows 10, so I just used the Media Creation Tool and so far so good. Kinda neat that opening up Firefox and it still had all my tabs saves from Windows 8.1.

Only free for users who have paid for a version of 7/8/8.1. Nothing for pirates.

Did a test on a couple of games, everything works just as before, no FPS increases or anything but also no worse performance either. I tested GTAV, Arma III, Killing Floor 2, and Alien Isolation, all worked perfectly fine. Going to eventually test the rest of my games but that's a reassuring start.

Welp, Windows 10 broke some Touhou games' ability to use fullscreen. That's a shame.

Everything else though has been great so far. I like the new start menu, though I wish the "All Apps" could be wider.

It's a paid program, but it's treated me well all through Windows 8 and all updates since have been free. Pretty much bloatless compared to other similar programs.

I just installed the trial version. Loving it so far. Probably going to try it for a few days before deciding if I want to buy it or not.

Will the bootable USB method still convert a 7 product key to a 10 product key or do you need to first upgrade via the reservation method?

Still have to upgrade. I just tried. And if you use the app to force the upgrade, in my case you just instantly get

"Something happened."
"Something happened."

You don't need to make the bootable USB, you can upgrade directly from the tool I believe.

But you must do an upgrade first, can't do a normal install the first time unless you have bought a key.

My Mail live tile has only shown me new Junk emails so far... despite receiving several legitimate emails in my actual Inbox.

Can someone pls guide me where to go to revert back or clean install after I upgraded to windows 10, pc is functioning terribly right now.

I honestly would like to sit down with the person who writes "information" screens that reveal so little and ask what they thought they were accomplishing.

Why is nvidia driver 353.62 failing every time I try to install it?

Is the driver already installed? I used to right click the desktop in Win 7 to get to the NCP settings, but nothing there in Win 10.

I can't seem to figure out how to allow myself to control windows updates. On win7, I had it prompt me when updates were available, but they seemingly download automatically now.

I had the same issue. I rebooted and all was well.

Go to Program Files and delete NVIDIA Corporation folder, then try to install the driver again. Worked for me.

ROFL

Yeah that's not how it works

I'm doing this through the media creation tool and the installation process seems to stall out at "Verifying that you're ready to start the installation". It says please wait, but it's been going for about 45 minutes now with no sign of progress. Is this normal?

I do not like this.

I loved Windows 8 and now regret switching to this. It's slower. Two-finger scrolling is not working. And I feel like I have to click extra hard for it to register the click. Never had this problem before.

It's probably been answered a few times in this thread, so I apologize. If I use the clean install option after upgrading from Win 7 will I get a windows.old folder with all my old crap so I can pick out some files I want to keep after the fact?
