I don't think so, but it wouldn't hurt.

Random question, I bought a copy of Windows 8, bootcamped my mac but recently had to wipe the whole thing due to hardware issues. Can I just download the Windows 10 release and enter my windows 8 key? Or do I have to reinstall my copy of Windows 8 and then do the upgrade?
Has anybody experienced issues with USB? Suddenly half the ports on my motherboard stopped working. : (
Used the download tool and it was installing around 80% then out of the blue, the installer closed and I was back at the desktop. I was waiting a while for something to happen but Nada.
Sound familiar?
So MGS GZ doesnt work for the upgrade so far but pretty much the only other thing that bugged out was xcom, just re-validated the files in steam and that made it work again but didnt fix MGS GZ.
Need to do the upgrade.
Does anyone not see the connect to Xbox One option in the Xbox app in Windows 10?
I just hope everything's smooth for playing FFXIV and hopefully fix my teamspeak issue so I can fully update it and it will actually open.
Cortana has got some legit funny jokes. The voice recognition is really good too, even when I talk fast or correct myself she understand what I'm saying.
So if I understand correctly (Sorry to probably be the millionth person to clarify) I use my free Upgrade and upon completion of upgrade I can then burn a disk and do a clean install which will activate automatically, without inputting a key?
Cheers.
I'm done. That is probably the 7th time installation has failed and I've wasted about 12 gigs worth of data trying to get it working.
No more.
Holy shit I want W10 bad but after all the issues people are having I'll wait a bit before I upgrade. I'm scared to fuck up my first PC. Spent ~2000 and built it myself watching ytube videos. W10 download at 87% I sart to panic a bit and hit cancel lol. Can't do it.
Just make sure your log onto your Windows Account before the fresh install. Post-wipe, skip inputting a key during the fresh install, re-log into your MS account on the new install. So if I understand correctly (Sorry to probably be the millionth person to clarify) I use my free Upgrade and upon completion of upgrade I can then burn a disk and do a clean install which will activate automatically, without inputting a key?

I fixed my problem, if you have a gigabyte MB make sure you uninstall on/off or your pc will run like pure crap, never shut down , take 5 mins to boot up and always get a error on a restart.

It was automatically registered for me. I didn't enter a key even once during the whole process.
I never found a need for it, but I'm running on an SSD.I fixed my problem, if you have a gigabyte MB make sure you uninstall on/off or your pc will run like pure crap, never shut down , take 5 mins to boot up and always get a error on a restart.

Upgraded but my 2nd monitor wouldn't work and the resolution of the other one was messed up. Tried updating drivers but Nvidia experience wouldn't connect and installing the driver I downloaded from their website kept failing. So I said fuck it and reverted back to Windows 7. I'll try again in like 6 months or something maybe MS/Nvidia will get their shit together or maybe I won't. I really didn't care for what I saw in the small glimpse that I had of the OS.
I like W10 but it's giving my machine more trouble than it's worth. I'll support MS and buy the paid version in a few months.
I've seen this in a few posts. Where did the idea of there being "free" and "paid" versions come from? There is no paid version unless you were ineligible for the free upgrade (Vista and below)
