US PSN: Golden Week Sale Celebrates Japanese Games

does Sony give a damn if you have accounts in different regions? does it violate TOS? I have psn accounts in 3 regions but i have purchased a ton of stuff from each store. For a while I had Plus memberships going on both US/UK accounts

...While these sales are nice, is this any indication of Marmusa coming to NA Plus soon? I remember Rayman Origins Vita going on sale last August and in September the game landed on Plus. With Marmusa landing on EU plus...I think I will skip that sale; just spent 20 bucks on PSN last week on PSP games (taking advantage of the 'Glitch' to pick up MotorStorm, Twisted Metal Head On and Rock Band Unplugged).

However, the Chrono games only being 7.50 together sounds great (yes, I know the PS1 version sucks, but I've never played these games before :)) and Persona being at an good price to test it out (never played a Persona game before) make this sale great :). Rain also looks nice for 3 bucks; gave me Ico vibes from its trailer.

Hope everyone enjoys this sale; nice that people can pick up some great Japanese games for good prices :).

I'm a little worried Muramasa too... also worried it won't be that cheap again. Rain is OK, but overall I was disappointed in it.

Damn. Really regret getting Tales of Symphonia Chronicles at release now, considering I've barely played it due to backloggery. :S Still, wow at some of these. Looking pretty hard at the Vita DBZ game.

Danganropa vs Totori vs Meruru vs Celceta with 40$ budget.

Which way to go GAF?

GAF, please give me the rundown on the following games:

Danganronpa (Vita)
Both/either Atelier games (Vita)
Muramasa Rebirth (Vita)
Ys: Memories of Calceta (Vita)

Worth buying? I know reviews are out there but I like getting the views of gamers.

Thinking about Meruru Plus. But I haven't finished Totori Plus.
I've played most of the remaining games.

SoulCalibur V; maybe?

Wow, this sale is downright ridiculous! But I need some help here:

- I've never played an Atelier game, where should I start?! Should I just get all of them? =s
- At $3.75, rain is at impulse buy levels. But I don't have any idea what the game is. Help me decide whether to buy it or not.

That being said, I'm in for Symphonia, Armored Core for sure. Hell, for those prices I'll even try Neptunia and Time & Eternity. Any other suggestions? I think the rest of them will be dangerous enough for me to impulsively buy near the end of the sale.

Is like to know this as well. I always hear good things about Atelier series from podcasts but don't know where to start.

As great as Danganronpa is, the fact it's only $8 discounted for PS+ is rather disappointing. While I haven't played the Atelier games, the fact they have a bigger discount & I don't usually see them on sale often (as far as I remember), I might suggest that, assuming people who've played them have positive impressions.

GAF, please give me the rundown on the following games:

Danganronpa (Vita)

999/Virtue's Last Reward meets Ace Attorney with a dash of Persona 3/4 social interactions. If that sounds like something you'd enjoy, you'll really like it...& then join the rest of us waiting for the sequel to be released in the US in Sept.

I'd compare it to a gamey-fied ICO, but without the combat. IMO it's worth it for the visual design alone at that price, but it's an atmospheric adventure experience, don't expect (much)action packed platforming.

So what are the Atelier games like? Dunno if I should grab one of them (Totori from what I've read in this thread). Are they full RPGs? Is there too much sexual innuendo in them?

I thought their policy was to not do that. Did things change?

Their "policy" is to make money.

Many of the recent Instant Game Collection titles have had heavily discounted sales, mostly during the big December/January sales.

Thomas was Alone
Velocity Ultra
LIMBO
Stealth Inc
Lone Survivor
Puppeteer
Castle of Illusion

I was burned on all of these, when I could have just waited and played them for free. I learned my lesson and will severely limit my purchases during sales.

I have most of them but goodness, so much goodness in that sale. Soulcalibur V for $5 is well worth it as long as you don't expect a complete single player experience.

Armored Core any good?

There's a LOT of good in that sale. Sony keeps on combating my desire to NOT spend money on PS3 games with sales like this! I always feel bad for games releasing during such weeks though... Games like Child of Light and potentially Pier Solar HD (though that sounds like it won't make it out yet?) get a bit jilted when you can get great classic RPGs for $3.75 ~ $5.00 a pop.

Chrono Cross was a favorite RPG of mine when it came out. I have no plans to revisit it now, but man did I love it back then. Tales collection is a great thing, too, even if I have been Symphonia before. Never played Dawn of the New World though, so I'm tempted for that.

Anywho, no talk about Saint Seiya?! It's easily one of the ones I'm most interested in, due to that Deep Discount. Also kinda weird timing, with JoJo's All Star Battle releasing this week.

Damn vita not allowing multiple accounts. Even though I have 2 vitas I want the trophies on my main account :( Was hoping to try out the Atelier games on the cheap.

Maybe helpful, Metacritic for Vita games in sale

Atelier Meruru Plus: The Apprentice of Arland - 74
Atelier Totori Plus: The Adventurer of Arland - 79
Chrono Cross - 94
Chrono Trigger - 92 (on DS)
Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc - 80
Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Z - 66
Metal Gear Solid: HD Collection - 81
Muramasa Rebirth - 78
Persona 4 Golden - 93
Ys: Memories of Celceta - 82

I have some friends who have been hounding me to play Verdict Day. Looks like I'm gonna get my chance now. And Soul 5 is definitely worth it.

Thanks, I didn't realize they were doing that. It's good to know.

It violates the TOS to use a fake address, but given that so many people do it without having ever been in trouble for it, it's pretty safe to say that Sony does not care.

Those expecting Muramasa to go free since it will be in EU region, you still waiting for dat Okami HD! ;)

If you want it, buy it. I bit on that great PSN sale on Okami since it never became free for US. Loving it. I just bought Tearaway and also loving that. I will get Muramasa. I doubt I will regret even if it goes free.

I just bought Persona 4 golden the other day for $29.99 lol. Think I'm gonna grab Tales, Hot Shot Golf and Muramasa.

oooooh! Ill be definitely picking up Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross for my Vita. Has anyone else played Dragonball Z The Battle of Z on the Vita? How does it play and how is the online community?

Saint Seiya's a Musou genre game and from what I've read is OK at best.

I didn't know they released the PS Vita versions of the Atelier games in the US. Are they digital only, because I don't remember ever seeing them in physical retail form?

Man Tales of Symphonia Chronicles for $10... I want to buy like 5 or 6 games from the sale but the fact that they're digital is kind of holding me back. Call me old fashioned but I really love physical games so much more than digital, plus with the Vita games I'd want to get from this sale I would need another memory card and we all know about the ridiculous pricing those carry.

It's probably good once you get used to the gameplay, how the battle mechanics work. I've been watching/reading reviews. Like fighting games, you won't be good until you play enough.

With the amount of money I'll be spending on these games.. I might pick up Armored Core myself. I won't be playing my AC:V since the servers are no longer up.

Yes, the Atelier+ games are digital only, infact IIRC, Totori+ was a stealth release.. I might be getting it confused w another game though.

I understand what you mean with the physical copies.. I'm pretty old school too. But my god.. digital is soo convenient. I have other games on my ps3 and vita, and it's just so convenient to switch playing games like that, instead having to take out the disc/cartridge and swapping it w another. Which is why I kind of want to get ZOE, Time and Eternity, P4G, and HyperNep Victory even though I already have the physical copies

Goddamnit, my money. I just got the money for FFX/X-2 and Terraria, and with those discounts I'm planning on getting MGS HD Collection, YS Celceta and Chrono Cross. Maybe even get a PS+ to get the bigger discounts, hmm.

EDIT: My problem is that I already have the HD collection on my PS3, and since this one don't have Peace Walker, it makes me think twice. But I love MGS =/

I see you haven't been noticing the recent IGC tittles? These tittles were on sale during the 14 for 14 Sale this January:

Thomas is Alone
Lone Survivor
Pixel Junk Monsters
Volcity Ultra
Portous
Stealth Inc.
Puppeteer

Now, every single one of those games landed on Plus two months after that sale...lovely isn't it :). I don't mind myself as all of those games are great tittles (love Puppeteer and Volicty :)) but my point still stands.

It's cooler to be able to play those games on a handheld I suppose, but the Vita version doesn't include Peace Walker so keep that in mind.
Well I've never played any of the MGS so I'm gonna get the ps3 version since it has peace walker lol.

Make a US account and start using it with Plus. Granted US Plus games aren't as good as EU's selection, but the $50 for Plus make up for itself in due time.

But the problem is that I have a few years worth of PS+ games on the European account and I'm going to lose all of it. I already have a US account where I've bought a few full price games.

Glad I sold my copy of Symphonia Chronicles for $30. Now I'll double dip for $10. I wish they'd sell Symphonia HD by itself for $5 though.

Woah! I literally almost downloaded Metal Gear Solid HD Collection on my Vita last night. My PSN wallet didn't have enough money and I didn't want to use my credit card to add funds. That's a huge discount. Thank goodness I waited.

Probably pick up P4G as well.
