Yeah, maybe not too comparable considering the crime and reasoning as well as acknowledgement and rehabilitation.

Woody and his adopted daughter as well. That's a bit fucked up too.

Yeah it's kind of weird, but there's a world of difference between Woody Allen's choice of partners (who was of legal age, mind) and Polanski raping a drugged 13-year-old girl.

I don't mean to alarm you but you have dogs on your face
No. They aren't useless. They are places where people who are threat to society should be until they'are rehabilitated.

They're places where unrepentant child rapists spend years locked in a cell.

Smells faintly of rancid stilton.
Dosn't he have more time for being a fugitve, then he would have got for the actual crime?...The support Hollywood throws at him is sickening.

lets say we throw him in prison.

There is an international child-rape organization happening in our world. Hollywood, EU Parliament members, the church. As long as this starts getting rid of all these fucktards, GREAT.

But one dude, when he was allowed to be who he is by a systemic problem isn't much progress.

That makes sense. Let him walk free because throwing him in jail won't stop all rapists. We should stop putting murderers in jail too. I mean what's the point? We're never going to fix murder.

Woody Allen next please.

One thing that we often complain about is the upper class wielding way too much power in america. Here we have another instance of someone with power escaping justice. Everyone should be hoping for his conviction.

I don't get that chart. Who in the hell has forgiven Darren Sharper? The general consensus seems to be that he's a sociopathic serial rapist.

Saw a great documentary on HBO about what happened. Had no idea he was married to Sharon Tate. All the sympathy I had for him over the murder of his wife and unborn child went away after the film went into the details of the rape. I doubt he'll be extradited, but I hope he faces justice for what he did.

We should send Batman to get him.

In all honesty Polanski is 81-years-old and will probably be dead before he answers for what he did. Then Hollywood will lobby for him to get some bullshit posthumous pardon or something.

It would be nice for justice to finally be served but I recall reading an interview where Samantha said she doesn't care anymore and just wants everyone to forget about it. In the interest of saving the victim from further pain I think leaving him be might be ok.

People are so ignorant it is not even funny. Everyone is ignorant due to the fact that no on knows or understands everything. But being that ignorant when signing a petition of a child rapist is absolutely ridiculous

Why does so much of Hollywood openly support a convicted child rapist?

No, you can't. You can consume the culture they create without lauding the person, but rising to your feet and pounding your hands together at the mention of his name is celebrating him. To say nothing of actually casting a vote to bestow the honor. It's reprehensible.

Why can't you clap out of respect for someone's talent? Why does it have to be out of a general celebration of everything they've done in their life, good and bad? When you clap for someone at an artistic event, you're celebrating their talent, what they've accomplished, and their artistic pieces on show. You aren't clapping for their, say, generous community service that they've done or their miserable treatment of their children (or any other reprehensible acts they've done on the side).
Nah fuck that to be quite honest.
Why?

Hitler was a great painter.

That's sarcasm

And if Hitler was actually a good painter, then it would have been fair to say he was a good painter.

NEVER, YOU FILTHY LIBERAL COMMY SCUM!!

Otherwise um........... ah....... the terrorist won!! Or some bullshit.

We need to get him to jail him, for reasons completely different than so give Samantha the justice we couldn't give her in the first place and only for revenge that we were so incompetent to properly process him in the first place and is seing as a mockery of the mockery the US justice system is.

You know and it's not exactly like the L.A courts didn't grant him leniency on the fact of his past being a Holocaust survivor and his wife's brutal murder while eight months pregnant at the hand of Charles Manson's followers. They took those incidents into consideration of the state of his mental health. Especially the account of the murder of his wife Sharon Tate, which had happened 8 years earlier in '69.

They gave him a plea bargain and dropped 5 of the 6 charges and originally sentenced him to undergo a psyche evaluation at CIM (California Institution for Men)

The final sentencing was never completed though before he fled in '78. It was speculated though he was only going to get probation but his lawyer speculated that the judge was going renege on the jail sentence. The district attorneys actually recommended probation though.

Heh, seriously? He fled because he was facing probation or at most a few months in jail?! Wow.

I didn't know Woody Allen raped anyone. I know he married his adopted daughter. Which is creepy as hell but I wasn't aware of any rape allegations.
Soon-Yi isn't his adopted daughter. She is the adopted daughter of his former lover. He had no family relation to her.
Mia Farrow has accused Allen of raping Dylan Farrow, his actual adopted daughter. Ronan - his only actual child and/or the love child of Frank Sinatra/Mia Farrow - and Dylan have supported this statement. Soon-Yi and Moses, his adopted son with Mia Farrow, have denied.
There was some sort of investigation, but nothing ever came of it. Medical team found no proof of molestation so judge tossed the case. Without that proof, it is also very difficult due to he says, she says nature of the case that is burdened due to the family problems of Farrow-Allen.

How would you feel about Hitler getting an award for his painting? A ballroom full of people leaping to their feet and applauding when the award is announced? A petition signed by famous artists saying people should stop judging Hitler because he was a great painter? Are you going to clap for Hitler?

What an idiotic analogy this is turning out to be. Plenty of people highly respect Leni Riefenstahl though if you really want to go down that Nazi analogy.

If he were a good enough painter, and if someone wanted to honor him with an award, then he rightfully deserves to earn that award.
A ballroom full of people leaping to their feet and applauding when the award is announced?
Again, if his paintings were good enough...
A petition signed by famous artists saying people should stop judging Hitler because he was a great painter?
People should judge and condemn Hitler for what he did, so no, I wouldn't like this petition.
Are you going to clap for Hitler?
I only clap after I finish my meals.

These are excellent examples of how someone can be honored for their work, regardless of what else they may have done.

If she wanted him captured, strung up and bled to death with 1000 cuts, would you be okay with that?

So I just took a look at the petition, and it's not saying "let him go because he's a great film maker," it's saying "arresting him in Switzerland as he attended a film festival is a dick move." It's saying "people should be able to freely attend international arts exhibitions without fear of arrest."

Not sure I agree with that justification, but it's certainly far more reasonable than "famous people can rape kids all they want."
