Yea I mean I am willing to give them benefit of the doubt since they have done a good job on ports/Remasters. But thats totally different than remaking a game from scratch which it sounds like at least one of the titles is getting.

When working for Sony (and before they were bought by them) Bluepoint has only remastered games owned by Sony. Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, God of War, Demon's souls and others. Bluepoint Metal Gear collection and Titanfall X360 were published by their respective owners.How the FUCK do you not give your dormant but classic IP to Bluepoint?

Sony are not going to remaster games they don't own when they have plenty of great old games (Ico, Bloodborne, Jak & Daxter etc.) they own without any PS5 remaster yet.

but I very much want to see a brand new Metal Gear. There simply has to be a hungry game director out there who wants to try their shot at the series. Theres still nothing in gaming that has that military/supernatural style - the series must continue.
Its like the Vertigo Hellblazer series. It went from Moore, Delano, Ennis, Jenkins, Ellis, Azzarello, Carey, Diggle, Milligan - all different styles but all added their own flavor and remained high quality throughout. There has to be someone out there who can do Metal Gear justice and continue the legacy.

The thing is if you're talking about prominent Japanese developers, not too many are actually independent - they are all tied to bigger publishers or platform holders. Now given its fairly unusual for publishers to co-produce with other publishers, the field of potential options is actually pretty limited. Especially once you remove teams who have a track-record doing a very specific sort of game that isn't comparable to Silent Hill.

Japanese publisher Konami has issued an apology for the sorry state of eFootball at launch, which has become the butt of many a joke over the past 24 hours or so. Writing on Twitter, the official eFootball account said: "We are very sorry for the problems, and want to assure everyone we will take all concerns seriously and strive to improve the current situation." The team has received feedback concerning game balance, questionable cutscenes and facial expressions, and player movement.
The statement continues: "This work will be continuously updated, quality will be improved and content will be added consistently. From next week onward, we will prepare for an update in October, while receiving further opinions through questionnaires to our users."
Ever since the game launched yesterday morning, the internet has been ablaze with disapproving comments and visual captures of how truly broken eFootball can get. That includes examples of how bad Lionel Messi can look and players disappearing. We highlighted as much in our Hands On impressions: "The sad reality is that while eFootball had the opportunity to be disruptive, it’s the best advertisement for FIFA 22 that EA Sports could have asked for. Konami’s got a mountain to climb to save this series’ season, and it’s going to take more than Sam Allardyce to keep its hopes alive."
