They did the absolutely botched PC port of Horizon: Zero Dawn that Nixxes and Guerrilla themselves had to step in and fix, so... good luck Switch bros.
Virtous handled Dying Light and Nier Automata versions for the Switch which are some of the best ports available on system. If they put the same care into this Switch 2 port of Elden Ring it should be more than fine.

Nah, it's in good hands. Their Nier Automata port on Switch was the stuff of legends. It had a higher resolution than the PS4 version and while some textures were noticeably lowered it ran at an extremely smooth 30fps.

I believe the backwards compatibility versions are locked 60 right? With some luck we might get the PS4 version with an stable framerate as well.
I played the PS4 version on PS5 but it still had slight hiccups and framerate dips. Not often enough to be annoying, but they were still there.

Switch is supposed to have ps4 like gpu power? Game should run pretty good. Still waiting for ps5 pro upgrade News.

I hope ER Switch-2 version got extra content, Nintendo deserve it

If they are truly going to brand it as a "Definitive Edition," usually that implies that the DLC will be included, though they'll probably also release it on other consoles at the same time if that's the case.

In terms of Nintendo-exclusive content, history suggests that it'll either get some exclusive items/costumes (probably Zelda-themed) or nothing.

Nintendo wants every game on their platform. Every game. If anyone thinks they don’t they are mistaken. Of course there’s a desire somewhere, somehow to get one or the best-selling games of the past 5 years on the new Nintendo platform.

Rinse and repeat for any major game that’s not currently available/possible on Switch.

PS4 tech is 10+ years old. So that kind of comparison isn’t super helpful/accurate.

Think of current-gen tech/approach but with heavy concessions for battery life and power draw, owing to being a portable system, and needing to be able to make at least some profit on a unit at a $400 MSRP.

It’ll certainly have graphics that exceed the PS4/Xbox One gen, plus some nice modern tech things, such as super-fast storage, AI upscaling, etc.

It's going to be 30fps. You need to lower these expectations or you are in for disappointment.

it's not ported by FromSoftware... so I'd say there is a nonzero percent chance of it running at 60fps 🤣
I mean, does it make any sense that the performance mode on current gen doesn't run at a locked 60fps? no... so all it takes is Virtuos actually choosing the right settings and target resolution, both of which FromSoftware didn't do 🙃

At least this is an indicator that the Switch 2 is decently powerful and that it will get third party support and not just I indies. Not always a given.

Imagine depriving yourself of one of the greatest games of all time for almost 4 yours only to play it on a Switch 2, lmao.
Every single sale would be from double dippers. And having played Elden Ring, I’m not sure it’s a good thing.
I am definitely not touching that game again.
