There is also one
with a noose around a guy's neck while he's being penetrated.
Well, I guess that's a pass then.

I've found a possible subtitle for the Umineko OT:
This game will not have a happy ending.
What do you guys think?

Hadaka Shitsuji is amazing in how it mostly just doesn't give a fuck. The framing of the scenes is so audacious that most of them just end up being really funny, and each butler also has a "tender" route where nothing really extreme happens if that's all you want (Sakuma's and Toudou's are hyper adorable). There's also a bunch of gag endings, it's not really a game that's meant to be taken totally seriously. There was only really one point in the game that I really didn't like, and it was the one time where the protagonist's actions felt like something a real abusive partner would do instead of a parody character (on one route the protagonist chains his partner for days, although it's still pretty audacious in that if you let him go early he takes revenge by killing and eating the protagonist like what is this a Nitro+Chiral game).

For a nukige it has surprisingly good plotting too. There's a main plot with a true route that's hinted at throughout the game, loads of hidden scenes that require particular flags to trigger, and something like 30 endings. The writing is really funny too, on purpose even instead of just being funny-dumb like most BL games.

Honestly I'd say that stuff like Togainu no Chi and Dramatical Murder are worse. The worst content in those games is just as bad or worse than Hadaka (gore/rape/bestiality/etc) and at least in Hadaka it's not written seriously and there's no shitty "but he really wuvs him" justification like there is in stuff like Mink's route in DMMd.

EDIT: Like, a lot of BL is really rape-y and gross. NTY and Hadaka at least have the courtesy to call it like it is unlike a lot of other stuff.

EDIT2: Looks good Shizuka

"Uchi says that since Ever17 isn't well-known in the west, decided to reuse some ideas in ZE - important to show it to more people. #AX2016"

Doesn't that sound lazy? "I did a fine work, but since people overseas didn't get to experience it, I'll reuse it on other games."

Well this is one of the main issues I had with VLR, it was uninspired and recycled.

I haven't played ZTD yet so I don't know if he found his muse again there.

I love his work, but am I the only one who thinks everything he touches feels very same-y after a few games? Might be just me, though.

I ended up getting Fata Morgana from Steam, and also got Amnesia as well since it seemed okay. Being absolutely new to otome VNs, was the latter a decent choice among games in its genre?

Kind of bummed that neither run on my mac so I'll have to whip my PC out to play them, but then again I got it back in shape a couple weeks ago when I finally caved in and bough Overwatch, so I could still play them.

I have so far enjoyed Amnesia more than Ozmafia, but that's not really saying much. It's a decent game for $2.99, though.

I'm still feeling bitter about the Hadaka license, and I don't really want to spend my money on it. But I want more BL games, and I don't want MG to think that the genre is not worth it if Hadaka doesn't sell. If it had been Dramatical Murder, another fan translated game that I have no interest in, then I probably wouldn't be so bitter since that game has a pretty devoted fanbase and would probably sell decently.

Might give this a spin someday to see if Euphoria has desentesized me to everything or not.

I try to convince myself by calling ZE a spiritual successor to Infinity because despite the twist reusal being uninspired BS I want to love Ever17 and VLR both.

Wot doesn't even begin to cover it :p. You probably shouldn't google it though - it's a very scarring image.

JAST is releasing Katahane (yuri title that's been fan translated), an upgraded HD version of it.

And they are bringing Eiyuu Senki out to PC, 18+ version.

Eiyuu Senki PC version, yes please. Hopefully in not fucked up version (still waiting on that Starless typo patch from Jast).

So many titles I'm unfamiliar with... Mostly eroge but any all-age Steam titles? I see that the one Otome from Mangagamer will have both versions come out.

Other all-ages titles?

There's Island from Frontwing and I imagine that MangaGamer's two moege titles will get Steam releases.

Dal Segno is getting an all-ages Steam version. That's the only one they said that about.

Oh and the otome game.

"Q: muramase? A: one of the crown jewels of nitro+, that's basically, if we sell so many copies, we'll talk; they know we want it, whenever we talk about new games"

Basically, never.

"Q: Partner with alicesoft? A: Would love to, haven't been able to"

well no shit you haven't been.

"Q: steins gate zero? A: steins gate zero is nitro+ and another company that begins with an M"

jast usa pls

" Q: Where is Django anyway? A: Other projects got put in front of, and nitro+ wanted other things out first; also the translation isn't done yet. the translation for starmine girl is done so that will probably get ahead of it"

Excuses basically.

"Q: do any yaoi? A: there are certain realities that make yaoi harder to do.. the studios that owns the rights to the voice actors say to make this version of the game in english, you have to pay secondary royalties in english, which can be hundreds of thousands... or we can do the game without voices... we could do the game with english voices.. and that wouldn't really appeal to fans either... it's kinda a barrier and we're trying to work around it"

Smell that? That's bullshit.

I'm pretty glad I didn't play Ever17 back when it WAS getting some mention in the west, since probably wouldn't like ZE anywhere as much if I did.

On that topic, since I DO like ZE so much, should I give Danganronpa a try? I have it already but haven't played. I know Uchikoshi didn't write it but, you know, giving the whole company the benefit of the doubt.

Danganronpa is worth playing, but it's not quite the same kind of experience as ZE.

IMO the only notable game at JAST that isn't just a dumb porn thing was Katahane and that game's really boring.

Was hoping for news on Django (I'm the one that asked about it) but nope.

Looks like there's two versions of that one, but I assume they haven't said which they are doing. Being JAST, I'm going to guess both.

Sharin no Kuni KS isn't doing so hot.
It's not Root Double bad, as it's trending towards 150% of the goal so far, but they might not hit the stretch goals. :\

I'm not sure they'll make it at all. They don't seem to be generating much press or attention.

Danganronpa eorks a bit differently than ZE in that it isn't much about solving a greater mystery than solving individual cases. It's also considerably less serious in tone, although the events are still fucked up it never feels as serious as ZE in my opinion save for a couple moments here and there. Not quite the same thing, but one of my favorite franchises despite its acute flaws thanks to its style.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I hope ZTD doesnt reuse too much of these.
I actually played E17 after 999, if it had been the other way round, I probably wouldnt have enjoyed 999 nearly as much.

I guess Fruitbat Factory lost Eiyuu Senki's license to JAST, that'd explain why they said the Vita release isn't happening anymore.

It's kinda hard to say. When it comes to the main stories being connected there is almost nothing linking the two (as in Umineko is not a sequel to Higurashi in a traditional sense at all) but at the same time there are a few Higurashi cameos/callbacks that can give huge plot points away if you read between the lines. You 100% can jump straight to Umi without knowing anything about Higu but if you plan to play Higu after Umi I'm more conflicted about recommending it.

It's a really tough situation. Higurashi chapters could be released a bit faster I agree but at the same time they already have 3 episodes out. And remember, Umineko has 8 episodes in total and they only release the first half next week so who knows how the releases will cross.

You can of course watch Higurashi+Higu Kai anime and go to Umineko VN from there. Unlike the anime adaptation of Umi, Higu was decent.

ah I was under the impression that the whole thing was coming out, guess i'll wait and see how things play out for the time being

finished root double last night, definitely had it's ups and downs but was pretty enjoyable overall

I think Eiyuu Senki, when I played it a few months ago, was not really good.

The main character is annoying af and while I thought you could conquer the world, it even had less choices than Rance. You can only choose from the next 3 countries to invade and so its totally linear.

Eiyuu Senki to me is worth it even if only for Ooyari Ashito's art. My preferred foreheads artist.
Too bad it's not GOLD (it's not GOLD, right?).
