Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | July 2013 | Slow Month, Fast Games

Thanks for the reply. I only picked up my vita in June and honestly didn't know that there was an SSD game available for it. While playing Velocity Ultra tonight it got me thinking about Super Star Dust again so I checked the store and sure enough there was a Vita version. Since posting I've been reading some reviews and watching videos it indeed looks like it'll be a ton of fun..

I really beginning to fall in love with my precious white vita.

I'd suggest buying the combo pack bundle for $15, not the core game for $10.

Are you guys going physical or digital for killzone? I'm guessing the download is probably gonna be huge :/

Yep, physical. I still haven't upgraded from the 4gb memory stick that was bundled with my Vita.

Actually, I can, since they're so endearingly tiny.

Who wouldn't love this game?

Physical definitely. But I love getting the physical games as a collector. I've had to settle with digital a few times because there's been such great discounts but when I get new games or when they're on sale or something I like to go physical.

I want to go digital, but if it's unreasonably large, I might go physical. I do LOVE having an almost all digital library though, its amazing having it all right there.

Just bought Gravity Rush, Uncharted, Wipeout and Unit 13 for a combined $40. I am a Plus member, but I enjoy owning a physical copy of a game, and I have a 16 GB card that I'd like to last for as long as humanly possible.

Just picked up Soul Sacrifice too last week. Never have played anything like it, so far I'm just mashing buttons and it seems to work well in combat situations.

There was no need to pre-order SS in NA cause they made the DLC a "week 1 purchase" incentive rather than a digital pre-order one. I much prefer it that way, tbh.

I'd love to "upgrade" my Vita when/if more colors or models get released in NA, but I would also HATE to lose my Near miles ;_;

Didn't EU get to preload the game and such because of the preorder?
If they gave a 10% discount (in addition to the digital discount), I'd be even more likely to preorder.

Just noticed I now have 5 full pages of games on my Vita and I've only had it for 2 months!

And I only realized that because my 32gb card just ffilled up and I cant keep buying games; eyeing that P4G so hard the game would slap me for for staring so creepily at it :D

I bought my bro a Vita last Christmas but he uses it so rarely that he decided to give it to me. I don't know how much I'll play it either but it would be nice to have a few games to pick up and play. Looking to get Lumines, Wipeout and HSG. A few questions:
Is EDF 2017 worth it if I enjoyed the 360 version?
If I buy Sound Shapes, can I play it on PS3?
Any recommended Japanese games that have minimal language barriers?

And what's a recommended case? Thx

I can only answer the Sound Shapes question, but yes it's cross-buy (it also supports cross-save and has a separate trophy list, so it's a relatively easy double platinum if that kind of thing matters to you).

Fuck, I just noticed how gorgeous my white Vita + white PS3 look. Soooo good.

I'm really starting to regret going physical for games though, mostly because of how cumbersome changing games is.

Project Diva and Senran Kagura Shinovi Versus are two games that are very import friendly. Project Diva is already covered in the OP, so check it out there.

For Shinovi Versus, at first glance, it appears to basically be Dynasty Warriors with boobs. While correct, I find Shinovi Versus' combat far more enjoyable and better paced. Plus, it's native-res and the graphics are beautiful.

There is quite a lengthy story mode which is told through a visual novel format. You can choose to skip straight past the dialogue to the battles, but there is a full translation of all the cutscenes if you want to read along.

So im really getting into soul sacrifice now and its over taken God Eater as my favourite of its kind and I havnt even touched the online yet (bar what I played of it on the demo).

I have been doing a mix of main story and side quests to unlock more stuff and get more spells and just in general soak in more varied content as I go. I really like all the stories in this game.

In the main story I got to
Cerberus. I remember him being really hard in the demo so I preped my self ready to go. I had my stone spells equipped and a venom spell so I could detonate his ass if the opportunity arose. First time meeting him I fought for a while and it was the same lvl as the demo but with Magusar as an ally. Long story short, Mag died a lot and I had to revive him a lot. I eventually died, then Mag died and then somehow completed the lvl????? turns out we didn't need to kill him and Mag must have got enough damage on him to end the lvl.

Anyway then I fight that sorcerer who was easy and then its time to fight Cerb again.

Start lvl, and there is a sorcerer who needs help. I res him and get to fighting. Im using the stone version of pinwheel, stone axe, stone explosion egg thing, and venom egg thing as a back up spell and incase I petrify him for a chain attack. I spend most the lvl reviving Mag and this other dude and run out of spells. Only get him down to yellow and eventually die.

mmmm

Take 2.

Basically same again but this time I get fed up of other dude dying so half way through I sacrifice him. Get Cerb down to orange before dying.

I need a new strategy

Change my spells to have all (m) versions of elemental pinwheels except stone which I only have (s) version of but need it as thats his weakness.

Start lvl. Straight up sacrifice that sorc as he is nothing but a burden then proceed to shoot Cerb in the face.... a lot. I take aggro for the whole fight so Mag never dies, I rip off all three of Cerbs heads one after the other... I manage to petrify him, switch to venom and detonate his ass for "chain attack +60". I basically completely owned his ass in about 9 mins and ended up with a score of about 470 which was crazy high and got a silver trophy for it. Was a great feeling after 2 epic fails.

Since learning about the weaknesses and detonating it showed how clever the combat is and how interesting spell choice can be in this game. In general I run 5 elemental builds that are all very similar but just different elemental versions. They are pinwheel, rising fist and homing spell on the first set and the second is pinwheel of opposing element and explosive or homing of opposing element and then AOE HOT as my last spell. I have a 6th set which is all the elemental pinwheels for fights like cerb who have high up weak points and are best to keep your distance from as much as possible.

Aiming to go 2 dark for every 1 light in build so I have stronger attack than defence but arn't left to weak.

Having so much fun with this. Very much looking forward to going online once I do the single player stuff.

I remember reading a review when it came out and some saying it was button mashy. Not sure what the hell game they were playing. Do that and your dead on anything but some of the earlier lvls. Plus only the 2 melee type spells even allow you to play that way..

It's the opposite story for me. I picked up God Eater yesterday and I'm enjoying it a lot more than Soul Sacrifice. I'm really enjoying the ridiculous level of customisation and slightly faster combat than what SS has to offer. There's also a sense of weight behind the God Arcs, whereas in SS I felt like I was swinging feathers.

I think the melee is a LOT better in God Eater so i can agree there. However I dont use any melee in SS. I prefer things like rising fists for a quick dash in for a high damage hit and get out again and then use ranged spells.

I still think God Eater is a fantastic game. Just the combat in this is more varied and interesting to me.That and I really like the art style and stories (but saying that I like the art style and silly over the top story of GEB as well, dat intro is amazing).

I've never seen the cart anywhere! Madness, even so - people complain about us getting ports of Indie games a year or so late and them being "expensive" - did Konami really expect Vita owners to rush out and buy a port of a Wii game with a HUGE price increase?

New Little King's Story isn't a port. It's a total re-imaging of the concept.

Actually a remake on a new engine and by new developers, it's not a reimaging (unlike let say games like Silent Hill: Shattered Memories) because the game has the same story and follow the same events, same levels, same bosses and princess and follow everything from the original but it's not a port but a remake because everything being completely redone from scratch ( it's most likely because they don't have the source code because Cing died years and years ago).

Nope. They will likely announce new projects for VITA at TGS. Although the chance of a localized game is still slim but for Japan, it is still a viable business for them.

Your optimism amuses me. Konami is barely a video game publisher anymore, evident by their weak 3DS support and they have few franchises that only do well in Japan. They keep making Power Pros, and Pro Yakuya Spirits games on Vita so that really only leaves more intern developed Suikoden games, Fairy Tail redux and Love Plus betrayalathons as possibilities.

Just looked up Dragon's Crown and man, what the fuck is up with that game? What pervy 14 year old did the art for that game?

I've never played the Wii game but based on the story synopsis on Wikipedia I'd say re-imaging is an apt description. The Vita game doesn't have an ambiguous "Was this a dream?" ending, as well as the dramatic departure in art.

Its definitely split opinions.

Some feel its the nature of the over the top / larger than life heroes. I can see where they are coming from. For example the sorcerer has been hinted to maybe not actually look that way but uses magic to make her self that way etc etc.

However without context i completely understand your side of view as well.

It is what it is thought and the game itself looks really interesting.

Is there any limit in P4G how long you can explore dungeons ?

I'm after third boss and can alternate beetween castle and baths and since i've got invigorate i can finish whole baths and then go back to castle and by the time i finish castle i have full SP thanks to invigorate and cards.

Also after first dungeon the game is kinda easy on hard difficulty.

I enjoyed both but in the end I'd give a nod to GEB as better game. Altrough the bullet crafting was huge PITA.

The only thing limiting you in dungeons is your SP and the ability to replenish your health.

In all honesty though, there's very little need to grind in P4G as long as you kill all the enemies in a dungeon during your first pass. You'll generally end up at an appropriate level to take on the boss, then it comes down to how well you've managed your Personas.

The game itself could be entertaining and the art does look really nice in general. But as far as I'm concerned I doubt the context for the soccer ball sized tits is gonna change anything. Even if you tried argue that it's a satirical approach and the sorceress have altered her looks for whatever reason, it's still basically coming off as a poorly thought out rationalization and I doubt it'd be the actual reason for that particular design.

Dragon's Crown is pretty equal in terms of character deisgns. Both the Amazon, and Viking dude have more testosterone than what is healthy, the Elf and Wizard are fairly plain, with the Knight and Sorceress being designed towards what is typically deemed attractive. The Sorceress has big boobs, long legs, and a pretty face. The Knight is tall, has broad shoulders and a pretty face.

Just picked up a Vita, and absolutely LOVING it! The crossbuy thing is awesome. Im currently running through LIMBO, which I didnt finish on the PS3, but has found a new freshness to me being able to play it on the train every morning.

I'm hoping Journey would make a transition too, but don't recall ever reading anything about plans to do so. Gravity Rush was a STUNNING game, and I have yet to play Rayman, Uncharted or Persona... Gonna be a sweet next few months!

Also, I saw the gameplay trailer for Killzone Merc. and that was pretty much what sold me on the Console. I just hope it's available here in Berlin (Germany), but I'm beginning to worry, as Germany has a pretty strong 'No Games where you kill people for Money' rule...

One more thing, I would sell a baby if it meant I could play Demon/Dark Souls on it... Make it happen Sony! :D

These games will keep me for a little while, but are thereany other Gems I should look out for? I heard there's a few really good rhythm games out there (Sound Shapes?).

EpicNutz on PSN if you wanna play :D

Like I said it has split opinions across the board. I can totally see both sides and personally don't care either way. Ignoring the mega boobs I think the artstyle is really interesting and a fresh approach. Hate so many games trying to look realistic when for me personally a strong art style can do a lot more for a game.

I think the sorcerer is the main character that actually makes people question it. Amazon is just crazy muscular and archer is just fine as she is. For the sake of one characters style I dont think I could damn the who art style as childish or what ever. However her boobs are so big they might count as 50% or the art style so maybe you have a point.

I havn't played dark souls yet (I have it on PC, got it in steam sale and intend to play it later in the year). But if you like games where you take down big boss like enemies then try the demo for soul sacrifice. Its certainly not the same game but it might have enough similar to interest you.

Does anyone know how to leave a group conversation on the Vita? I was randomly invited into a huge convo but whenever I log onto my PS3 now I get spammed with new messages. It's so annoying, but I can't seem to find a simple "Leave Group" button or anything like that...

Just picked up a Vita today and it seems pretty awesome so far.

I bought the 32GB Memory Card so I was thinking of going pretty much strictly digital with my games. Does this make sense?

Mostly grabbing the free psplus games and also Persona 4 because it was on sale. Looks like a ton of good games available/coming out though.

Nice :) I prefer retail games since if game goes to PSN+ you can sell it on ebay and get part of money back.
And even 32 GB will fill sooner or later so better to use it only for PSN+ , PSP and digital only releases.
