Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | July 2013 | Slow Month, Fast Games

I guess Vita means anime life now, and I am ok with that.

IDemon Gaze day one!

edit: top of page recommendation, buy Hotline Miami! a great addition to any Vita library.

Thank god new games was announced.

After DC next month, only thing I was expecting to get for the Vita was Killzone and FFXHD

I hope Demon Gaze gets a CE release.

That's how the mobile app works. Only a few series are free, and for most, only a few episodes.

Deleted it from my iPhone when the selection began to veer more towards the latter.
Everything seems to work fine without a subscription on my iPhone. But then again, I haven't really used the app in over a month.

It'll be useless to me if videos are hidden behind a paywall.

it likely will be locked behind the crunchy roll paywall. or at least 99% of the content likely will be. i mean it might work like the PC site where just the new content is locked for like a week.

I am still happy about it as I recently got a crunchyroll membership for pretty much no other reason then to support them/the anime industry (I also picked up a neon ally membership at the same time)

I would actually love it if we could get some music apps like Pandora, or IHeartRadio, im always curious why stuff like that is not available.

Unless they find a way to bring ads to the Vita, crunchyroll will be behind a paywall. Which is fine by me because I always find a new reason to subscribe.

Here's the most important question. Does crunchyroll have One Piece? That's the dealmaker/breaker.

nope, funimation (and i think hulu by extension) has one piece streaming rights.
crunchyroll does have shows like attack on titan, naruto, hunter x hunter, sword art online, bleach, kaiji, ect. you can see the list here

Wow at the comments directed at Shahid, and all because Nis and Akys are bringing two Japanese games, and a novel to the west. Why cant people just be happy with the support, and not trash the guy who actively goes out of his way to interact with fans?

Some people are fuckin spiteful

He could, you know, just ignore them. Instead he nips right back, implying that he's done more to bring support to Vita than anyone else he knows.

His relentless self-martyrdom is almost as annoying as the scapegoating from the other side. Twitter is so ugh sometimes, stahp

People are actively attacking the guy, why should he be the one who shuts up? To the best of my knowledge he has brought more to the vita then anyone else, allot of it quality. It is also a factual situation where allot of what "his" team is doing likely would not unveild until gamescom considering he worka for SCEE.

Nisa releasing a "non-game" has nothing to do with shahid, or actually maybe it does since he was the one who did that JRPGvita poll.

Well that was a bait if I've ever seen one.

decent games!? shahid!? lmao

Those people attacking Shahid now will feel very silly if Type-0 comes to Vita due to him.

Not saying it WILL, but there's always a chance.

No because he just did that poll to fuck with people, if SE does bring Type 0 it will only be because the glorious mobile phone studio Square Enix graces us with a game (forget that they are support PSM now). People would not give the guy any credit if Nomura mentioned him by name.

He's responsible for bringing Lone Survivor and Proteus to the Vita as well, right? Can't wait to play those.

It would be pretty funny, and sad if these games were getting localized in any part because of Shahid, and the JRPG poll he did. Tales would take longed though since they are bigger games, and SE is SE so who knows.

I just dont know why people cannot be happy with the announcements and not bring him into it at all, especially since Ubi Soft (the biggest pub in his region) is supporting the Vita still, and "his" conference being gamescom has not even happend yet.

I have a theory: most Vita owners are console gamers, and over the last generation have been conditioned (mainly through XBLA) to differentiate between downloadable games and retail games, and most (sadly) only consider the latter to be "actual" games. Hence, the logic goes: Shahid has been focusing on downloadable games, which doesn't count, suddenly three (probably) retail games are announced in one day, which does count, hence Aksys + NISA > Strategic Content.

I expect this attitude to change during this generation when what was previously considered retail games become download only, and I expect that fans of Japanese games would be first to change that line of thinking. Already, we have seen some games that were retail in Japan become digital only in the West, such as Project Diva F (in Europe), Altelier Plus, and pretty much all of Xseed's recent handheld games. If I was a betting man, I would put down money on DR being digital only. However, change is coming.

Can't believe Anime Expo had way more content for the Vita than E3 but I'll take it.

Poor Shahid, dude needs to just stop fighting with the trolls.

People were threatening his kids during the E3 meltdown, and calling him a terrorist, and he still takes time to address as many people as he can wether happy with the Vita, or not. Guys got some nerves of steel imo.

Needless to say E3 and SCEAs handeling of the Vita have nothing to do with him considering he works for SCEE

Rolling my eyes at people attacking Shahid. They're pretty crappy and selfish people. It's not about games coming out on the Vita, it's about games they want, and when they don't get them, they whine and bitch. And end up attacking the liaison. It's sad, really. Sad people. Maybe Collin MacRAE can learn a thing or two about manners.

WTH... anyways Thanks to Koei, Akys and Nis vita saved!

Buy the damn game!

heh, I like your approach

It's a steal at 5 bucks. Not only is it a pretty decent fighter, the single player story mode is really good. If you only play through that once and nothing else I think that's worth $5. The character models outside of the cut scenes are sub-standard though, especially compared to other Vita fighting games.

.

I keep hearing about the character models, time for some youtube research

Don't be too happy, readjustment will come soon.

Nah, these are exactly the games i'm looking for as a RPG player. It's become such a niche when people generally talk about Vita not having games they are talking about games like FPS, GTA, sports, etc games that I don't give a shit about anyways. THESE are the type of games I want that wouldn't be announced at E3 anyways. Vita is well on its way to being a PSP part two for me and thats fine and dandy, bring it on.

It's this kind of thing that makes me regret posting a slightly reproachful post about Shahid. All of a sudden I feel like I'm a part of these people. Ugh.

The comments directed at Shahid are completely inappropriate. These losers need to go back to the rock they've been living under. I can understand being upset at the lack of "BIG" game announcements, but the guy is working day and night to get more games to Vita.

Freedom wars is also likely 2014, along with Destiny of Spirts. I understand its customary to shit on destiny of spirits, but I keep hoping for a good TCG for Vita, and that looks like the closest ill get for now.

On PC, yes. Watching on PS3/Vita will probably require a paid subscription though.

Edit: Wow, when did the video quality on Crunchyroll PC get so good? :O
Three years ago? They get raw footage from the studios and have had 720p for awhile. 1080 is more recent.
