Ugh - man I really wish the weapon select system were a bit more reliable. The Dual Shake d-pad, well Sony's d-pad's, is shit for weapon selection. Not to mention, from a design mechanics point of view; I have to remove my thumb from the movement stick to select a different weapon, which is compromising bullshit in an intense CTF run.
I was trying to make way with the Chernovan flag, snagged some mines in an alley and was going to start squirting them to take care of my pursuers. Press up and right as quickly as I can since I have f*ckers on my tail. Release, press fire. Suicide because instead of up-right the shitass Dual Shake opted for just plain UP and selected bazooka; which isn't such a hot idea in a narrow alleyway. >:|
Just get some sort of MGS style Up/Down/Left/Right menu thing I can cycle through. Sony is shit for diagonals people!
Also, is there any means of adding friends in game? Like in SOCOM how you can select a name from the team list and send a friend's list invite? I just want to double check there's nothing I'm missing here before I completely flip out.

Unfortunately when I press the combination, when I remove my thumb the god damned pad tends to click back to the top or right. Diagonals are a pain in the ass to hit, which is why folks tend to not use the Sony dogbone for Capcom fighters. This isn't new news. It's a legacy issue.

I've only had the game a few days and I'm suddenly ranked Wing Leader. I have only have 51 points. Is that right? Seems as though I've ranked up by mistake.
Bought the game last Friday and this is one of the best games I've ever played. So many unplanned moments of 'I can't believe that just happened'.

I guess I'm lucky to not run into those retards, but I don't play as much CTF. I'm more TDM or Zones, although CTF can rank a ton of points up for you.
yeh, people need to stay away from ctf. the points you can rack up from simply standing next to a dropped flag or killing someone holding it is ridiculous. it doesn't help the fact that everyone camps the homebase and disregard any zones you've captured, even if its one right next to the opposite team's base. and it's next to impossible to fly warhawks cause their is a good chance nearly every missile turret is manned. tdm and zones ftw.

I dunno. I camp the base in CTF because I'm used to f*ckwads not defending the flag. :\
Had a good few matches tonight. I'm enjoying this game so much more than SOCOM overall.

I don't see a problem. Part of any CTF game is defending the base. The missile turrets are godly against warhawks, so you can't really question why they're useful. It's also possible to blow them up...
Like Bandit said, there just has be a decent ratio of attackers and defenders. I've been in games where every single person defended our base. Then tonight on TTP's server, I'm the only person defending. We still won though, hehe.

I dunno... some of the coolest moments I've had are being part of a convoy that's flooring it and escorting the flag carrier (especially if you're in the machine gun turret of the 4x4) while enemy warhawks are right behind you. Every once in awhile there are insane crazy fights right near the end with things exploding everywhere as a team is trying to capture and score.
And it really makes a lot of the weapons more relevant in terms of strategy--air/land mines to guard the flag, bombs/lightning/binoculars to clear mines, mines slowing/stopping flag takers from their escape route, and on and on...

the Devs have quite a lot of work to do with all the bug fixing and issues. It almost feels like this is beta 2 Then again, with downloadable content and hard drives I guess console gaming is going to become more similar to pc gaming (bugs+update fixes+balance fixes many months into the game's lifecycle).
With that said, man I really wish you can punish someone who tk'd you. In the SCEA servers there are times when teammates would come behind you and knife you just for the heck of it, which is quite annoying especially when I am loaded with weapons ready to take out a flag carrier. They might think twice if I had the option to instantly kill them and make their respawn timer 5x as long after that death... C'mon guys, if you model your game servers after PC gaming, take some of the other good stuff that's come out of many years of online gameplay as well.
