Anyone doing a airplane surveillance? (what's the term again..) If you're a passenger in a Warhawk you can see absolutely everything on your map and you can coordinate your team accordingly.

I'd think it's the opposite. You can always simulate what is going to happen, server wise, for gameplay (especially for warhawk since they use PS3's as servers) but I think that the game going up, and the stat servers having to deal with infos from thousands of players isn't something you can completely foresee.

It's just like the WW servers for RFoM. They polished it, did tons of tests, even delayed it to fix some more stuff, and that didn't prevent some major problems during the first 2 days.

The difference here is that Resistance -- even on day one -- would eventually report stats. I've had ALL of my time with the game so far doing stuff wiped out. Maybe they'll update with all that lost time, I dunno, but unlike Resistance, Warhawk had a beta meant to iron out these bugs. Hell, the game still freezes at times, which just blows my mind.

Also, there's the whole issue of this being a multiplayer-only game. Resistance not only had a better community component, but it was a launch title and it had a kick-ass single-player game.

I think you are screwed. Apparently its tied to the PSN ID of purchase AND the playstation of purchase. So even using the same ps3 with a different ID won't work.

Probably not, I'm just sayin'. It's also important to note that people riding shotgun in Warhawks can see everything, and I'm not sure if that's relayed to the entire team or not, but I believe those with a knife are the only ones that are truly invisible all the time. Not 100% certain, though.

I'm pretty sure people riding shotgun in a Warhawk can even see people equipped with a knife.

there is a slight delay. I jumped two ranks today, but they weren't really instantaneous.

I lost my entire rank twice... which also reset all my damn customizations last night.

If you check out you profile and for whatever reason it times out or can't connect, you get that "you have not played any ranked games" or whatever message, then it seemingly blows away (by resetting your rank to Recruit) all the customizations, ribbons, awards and stats as a result.

I didn't check this morning, but if I lost the dozen awards I earned last night I'm gonna be pissed. I played about 20+ ranked games, and won a few. When I last checked it said I played 4 games... which is completely wrong. I can't believe how buggy the stats system is.

Also, I had a few instances where the Jabra (the one packaged with the game) just lost connection at the start of a game. Turning it off and on worked most of the time, but I had to quit out once to fix it from the XMB.

Other than that, just like the beta, awesome game. They better straighten out the remaining issues though.

the bashers that troll scores have long since left this thread... or have been banned. 9.0 is preaching to the choir. Playing the game last night made me realize how sad i was when the beta ended. I picked up MP:C on the way home also and I forced myself to go to bed at 1am last night... with Metroid still in the bag. I couldnt stop playing Warhawk

So you CAN play it on another PS3 after 24 hours, but it doesn't look like you can play it on the same PS3, with another account, at all. Dunno. You'll have to give it a try I guess :/


But even if it doesn't work, couldn't you just play with your US account ?

Seriously.. Warhawk.com should at the very least have a profile/ranking screen. I mean, how hard is that to do? Is this their first online enabled application ever? These days, I expect more, like Resistance or Forza 2, and Halo 3.

The Jabra itself is actually pretty good (I also have a Motorola h700), it seems to be the game's fault or the PS3.

I got my pre-order yesterday, and low & behold an unexpected bunch of friends
pop in last night. There like "oh goody a PS3" & I'm like oh crap!
My night had RR7, Resistance, Super Stardust HD & Calling all Cars, no WOWHAWK!
I didn't tell them about it, as they would still be here now if I did.

Just had a couple of games via review code + test unit (can't wait till 30). WOW. In half an hour play I had more fun than during my whole SOCOM career. I'm playing this shit since the beta, but it still wows me everytime. There are basically no two identical matchs to be had in this game. Everytime is a story a part.

At the end of the last match I was carring the flag on a tank, driving towards the base in Badlands. At some point I was such in an awe watching friendly Warhawks flying over enemy manned turrets to destroy them to let me pass or shielding me from above attacks by hovering over the tank that I didn't notice a friendly jeep following me closely behind. Actually I did notice it, but I thought the guy was just protecting me untill I heard the horn.

Then it hit me.

yeah my jawbone (bluetooth mic) also dropped once or twice, i just reconnected and it worked

I typed up some general tips to help out noobs.

Flight tips:

Hold down the fire button when using missiles. They will automatically lock on to targets in your scope. Release the fire button to fire.

Double tap and hold R2 for a speed boost. Useful to get somewhere quickly or avoid locked missiles (turn around buildings/hills).

Hold L2 & R2 to execute a powerslide.

If you're going to use sticks and not motion control, play with Pro-Flight active. It takes a bit of getting used to but definitely makes you much more agile in the air, also makes those silly newbs doing constant barrel rolls easy pickings. Start your own password protected game and learn.

Learn where the chaff and health pickups are in the air when flying. Those two items are your lifeline and will make the difference of staying alive for 2 mins or 20.

Beware the Ground-to-Air guns and missiles. They will shread your warhawk almost immediately. If you want to get risky you can try to get behind them and use a large homing missile, otherwise just land as close as you can and chuck grenades.

The stealth powerup is usefull for flying around the map grabbing all other powerups without interruption. When you start using your weapons the stealth will instantly deactivate so use it only when you're not going to fight.

Tow Missiles is the most powerful weapon for a Warhawk. If you see a shockwave go off somewhere on the map that's the Tow. Know where they spawn. You can be a real rat bastard if you keep picking one up, hiding, and killing groups of people without anyone knowing where you are. Great to take out a well defensed group.

Small tip for Air-to-Air combat. If I'm flying against someone that is somewhat skilled, I like to fire a single swarm missile at him just so that he gets rid of his chaff, then load up ten more for the next slavo.

Land Tips:

There are no parachutes and you cannot jump out of a plane that does not have it's landing gear down (automatically extends when Warhawk is in hover mode and close to the ground). Keep this in mind if you are going to jump into a Warhawk in passenger mode. You may be taken on a long and stupid ride unless you really trust the guy.

Infantry weapon is as follows: Knife is most effective for extreme close combat (one hit kill), guns/flamethrowers are most effective for close range combat, machine gun for medium range, sniper for long range. Rocket launchers will lock onto Warhawks, Tansks and I believe Ground-To-Air missiles/guns. Know your distance and when to use what weapon.

Binoculars are used for calling an airstrike. Just "shoot" the binoculars to a far distance and wait until the timer reaches zero. One hit kills anything in its radius.

Equipping the knife will make you invisible to enemy's radar. That is a big deal.

Grenade on a soldier is a one hit kill on contact.

Vehicle Tips:

Tank shots can kill Warhawks in one hit. If you see a hovering Warhawk don't hesitate to aim and shoot.

Tanks can carry two players, one driver and one passenger. The passenger can pop in and out of the Tank hatch with the Triangle button (IIRC) and fire on anyone in range using an eqquiped gun, machine gun or missile launcher.

On Jeeps: Hold down L2 & R2 to cause a skid. Useful for quickturns and just looking/sounding cool. A jeep can hold three players: Driver, Gunner and Passenger. The passenger is a gimp that can't do anything but sit along for the ride. R1 is the jeep's horn. Annoy at will.

Ok, I'm confused. How did I rank up to Airman on my stats but under recruit it says never. It shows the date I became an Airman but it's like I was never a recruit (or whatever the first rank says). Any ideas?

Edit: All the knife talk reminds me... My friend and I playing split screen on opposite teams saw each other in the battlefield... and in a warzone decided to take out the knives and charge each other, we both stabbed each other once and both died at the same time, was pretty hilarious.

I remember doing something like that during the trial, the person stayed in the tank and died though.. I didn't even know about the horn yet.

Turn 10 is relatively small as well. And honestly, coding a simple site to just report stats from a database for a specific user is not a difficult thing to do, even for a 2 person team (it's my job). I'm not talking much beyond that.

Again, I think the sticking point for me is that this is a game that shifted development to become an online-only title. Jim was only asking for an online component where you can check your rank or something for e-peen bonuses (something that, say, SOCOM has had for a while now). That Warhawk is seriously lacking in the extraneous community stuff isn't so much a detractor (well, not entirely), it's just that for a game that is online-only, it should have been a killer app for helping people set up games, tout their skills, etc.

All of those games we've compared Warhawk to have single-player too, and that's what really gets me. You're paying more or less full retail price, but the game is only online. People that shell out $40 or more bucks deserve a game at least on part with a launch game that also had a single-player component.

I don't need cell phone updates or something, I just want an online hub that shows my stats, some official forums (even if it's just a mirror) or, I dunno, maybe an online manual since a lot of people will be buying the game as a PSN download?

Neither MyResistance.net nor Sidhe's Gripshift stats sites were available day one though. They followed at least a couple of months after the release of their respective games.

It looks like it's coming. If you go to their page you can find a stats link, with the rollover saying (Coming soon...). Should have been up on day one, but hey, so long as they get it up I'll be happy. I want Halo style detail, too.
