Has Incog even acknowledged the problem yet? They acknowledged the stats thing pretty quickly.
They may not feel its a priority, as its a new game and the clan population is still probably pretty low.
I almost wish they had spent another couple months in development and upgraded from the 8 year old method of server lists like in the original CS.

I've determined that the gameplay is second to none... The game is flat out fun to play... But, the lack of party system, and quickplay really really kills the fun... The stat tracking seems wonky (like most are off the bat), but i'll live with it for now... The lists never update fast enough, I try jumping into games with 20 out of 32, and it's full... And it's near impossible to get into games with friends... Incognito needs to address these issues with the quickness because it's really killing the fun for me...

People are always complaining that they can't get into Sony servers - you are aware that some of them have rank restrictions, correct? It'll let you attempt to the join the room even if you don't meet the requirements, and that's why they always say it's full.
As for stats, give them a few weeks to work things out - my stats didn't keep for the first 3 weeks in Resistance once the game launched. People forget all the problems that Resistance had during launch, as a lot of people weren't playing it then.

The knife really is a little ridiculous - in deathmatch games, I pull out my knife and go to town. I actually switched back to my handgun because it was too easy. One hit kill? Lame.
The machine gun is fine, I can take ppl out no sweat. Pistol is a little weak tho. I feel useless with it. Me and this guy squared off this morning in a pistol showdown - we honestly went through about 15-20 mags each, if not more. Hilarious. We couldn't hit each other and refused to get closer. Eventually he won.

Stats not tracking is similar to the issues Resistance had at the start, that was borked at the beginning but they fixed it and all your stats were up to date.
Edit: The pistol was so overpowered in the beta, they toned it down a lot because people complained. If I see a guy pull out a knife I lob a nade close to me and run hoping he runs into it as he chases me. It's a weak thing to do, but it works like a charm against all those guys running and slashing.
