Wasteland 2 |OT| Explode 'em like a Blood Sausage

Impressed by how detailed these patches are. Looks like they're going to give this game the support it needs to be truly great. Just need more balancing alongside the bug-fixing.

Finally got to california. This game is getting a lot harder. I guess there is going to be a beef gate until I gear up a lot then it will probably taper off again.
No, California is an order of magnitude more difficult than Arizona. It's like they put two different games together, honestly.

Awesome, I just finished AZ then went away for the weekend. I come home and a 2.4GB monster downloads. Hopefully CA is a bit smoother for me than it was for the guys who got there before the patch. Really enjoyed AZ.

- Extensive improvements and fixes to California questlines, particularly in Hollywood and Griffith Park. May require you to load an older save file before Hollywood to fully benefit.
- Added a travel speed toggle to the world map, allowing you to zip and zoom around if you so please (doesn’t affect encounters, only travel speed).

Awesome patch.

No reason not to play on easy, right? Does the game let you change difficulty at any time?

You can change whenever you want.

- Large amount of memory optimizations, particularly with audio, to improve performance and stability on lower-spec systems and 32-bit operating systems.
- Fixed enemy “unlimited AP” movement bug that allowed them to sometimes move much farther than intended.
- Added a new UI when CNPCs are recruited. This lets you more easily compare their stats and choose to dismiss one when a new one offers to join.

Incredible patch. These fixes were exactly what I was hoping for! Plus some I didn't even think of, but are equally necessary.

Well done, InXile.

Yea I completed the first half and really enjoy the game so far. Special thumbs up to the writing.

Haven't really seen much of that yet. Just went on the first mission and got a feel for the combat. Feels good.

I had a lot of fun with Shadowrun Returns; nice to have similar combat in a way bigger game.

Can someone explain why these patches are so big. They're not adding or replacing huge amounts of assets, are they?

Edit: I guess it's redownloading lots of lower-quality audio?

Oh boy!

I went to Rodia and its not as bad. I was just surprised by some robots then a forced random encounter where the other side had weapons that seem several tiers above mine. I did win it eventually with a lot of dead rangers so I reloaded and left the map.

Those changes are awesome, especially regarding Hollywood since I've yet to go there
but
2.4GB?

If every update is above 1GB, I better tell my friend to wait since he doesn't have luxury with his internet connection.
Holy hell, I hope this is the last one we get 1gb or above-update size.

I wouldn't count on it. Unity (and Unreal) are real crummy when it comes to efficient patching. It's not quite "redownload the whole game" territory at least.

Remember, this is the same game that looks like a mobile game (Before you ask: yes, they've come that far), with no audio/visual accomplishments to speak of, while still managing to be ~21 GB in size. It's ridiculous, especially since there's no blaming it on uncompressed cutscenes or audio...

time to start my all brawler crew

...is what I'd say if the patch was up on gog.

I can sympathise.

GOGSOP should be the real name: Good Old Games, Slow on Patches.

Hopefully GOG Galaxy improves it somehow.

Things that makes me feels the 2.4GB worth it is that they fix "walk from a corner of a map right into the front of your sniper".
Shit annoyed me to the point I almost broke my mouse.

Huh... I uninstalled the Razer Surround drivers and now everything (system-wide) sounds louder and more clear. Unless it's a placebo effect... which is possible, I suppose.

In any case, I really wish they wouldn't bundle bloatware like that with games.

Ah, I was wondering why my 1st character had a jar of pickles.

Apparently they belonged to Chisel who I had in my party for about 5 seconds, and when I kicked him out it got mistakenly transferred to my guy.

Sitting at 50hrs played and just finished the first couple of quests in LA and now dealing with the
Mannerites (creepy fuckers)
.

In Arizona I found
a cache full of "Extra Terrestrial" game cartridges
lol

You can use computer science to hijack turrets, and "overclock" robot allies (so maybe Im just slow, fuck you).

Whats the deal with
Satan
in Rodia?

I got a critical failure repairing the
radio tower in Rodia, any other way to fix it?

I have really enjoyed having Chuck L the mohawked brawler in my team. He wasn't the smartest tool in the shed but skillpoints were solely focused on brawling and then he learnt the legend of Frank Dux. He is currently enjoying knocking fools out in Rodia. Well I assume he is knocking them out but their heads are coming off the body.

Dang. Loaded up my endgame save after the new patch and tried again...
and the Rail Nomad camp STILL doesn't recognize I made peace. =\ Booo.

You can't mod in extra skill points?

Not that lame, but a little lame. I wanted to mess around.

Oh yeah you can (and attribute points, for that matter). But I think some people define what is acceptable or not when editing save games.

I just got to the fight with
Dugan
.

I'm guessing there isn't much left now, yeah?

Nope. And you can't back out of it. I was going to see if there was anything I missed in LA, but apparently there's no exit in that map except forward. (Unless I missed it).

Satan
in Rodia?
I was hoping it had something to do with one of the companions (
Ertan
), but I think it's just
Virgil's lost possum
, but because I solved most of Rodia before
going to the crater, Virgil and Dante already hooked up so I can't give Satan to Virgil and Satan has disappeared entirely.
.

It's one of those risks you accept by playing an RPG well before anyone's written guides or created patches that fix things when you do them out of order.

And,
if Ertan really has no reaction to Satan, I'm actually quite disappointed with Inxile, because that's a hell of a comedic opportunity they missed
.

How the hell do I help
Josie
? I try using Rose with max Surgery, but the icon says 0% and she says it's impossible. First Aid states I don't have the proper item.
Never mind. But now I can't figure out how to get La Cienega to appear.

Seriously? -_-

Remember the Zeolite? You need
50lbs. 40 of which are in the same place, and 10 in the area just before.

Hurray, I finished it! :D
That last fight, man! D:

I must say, I enjoyed so much of the game but the combat really does make this game more of a slog than it needs to be! >_<
Still glad I spent the time with it now though.

The travel speed toggle is a great QoL add. It's a little less of a BFD in California because California is relatively rectangular and contained. Arizona, though, is nothing but mountains and canyons, and once you've more or less been somewhere, you don't really need to watch the star putter back to HQ.

Finally finished this tonight. The ending didn't reflect my actions in the game very well. Claimed a few characters were still in power when they were actually dead and others had taken their place (namely
Heidi and Duke
). What a mess of a game.

Anyway, I enjoyed it at first, but it began to drag once I got to LA and by the time I got to the final LA area I just wanted it to end.

While I'm already finished Rodia quest and on my way to Angel Oracle, holy shit how absurd the first impression you got when you first arrived in California. Just as you wiped out a horde of mutant dogs, you immediately welcomed by broadcast from a person with messiah-complex, meatbag hating robot, religious fanatics, and man with unhealthy obsession of manners and politeness. Arizona is like peaceful backwater village compared to this

Hey guys I plan on re-starting with a new party (was visiting Germany and couldn't play while I was gone, so I feel like restarting) and had a few questions:

1. Is there any reason to do Highpool over AG Center?

2. I want to base my party on the Firefly crew ;) How would YOU design your 4 party members around those characters?

3. Any tips and tricks to consider for a good party?

Just finished it, what a fantastic game. I've only really got 2 main complaints:

1. No map notes? What. No seriously, What?
2. I *hate* isometric games with rotatable cameras, stop making me fidget with the god damned camera every 3 seconds. Doesn't help that the 'highlight' function doesn't work properly when stuff is out of your visual range so unless you spin the camera around in *every single freaking room* you will miss stuff. Thank god Torment is 2d backgrounds.

Dunno how long it took me since the steam overlay wouldn't work with the SMAA I was injecting, but I'd guess about 60 hours, maybe more.

Alright, off to Grimrock 2.

I'm thinking whether I should replay it again and save Highpool so from what I've gathered you will get to enlist another companion, an average sniper.

You'll be fighting raiders so ammo will be less of a problem.

Ungh, I just figured out I can dump more items in the stash box at the base. I thought I only had a dozen squares. Squares get automagically added as you drop items in.

I'm in fucking California and I just discovered this, lol.

All finished with exams and uni so I finally have time to play this game.. thinking of re-creating my party from scratch since I've only played it for a hour or so. So basically asking some advice I should be taking in terms of what's the best builds to have, stats allocation etc.

The best build in general for any party is specialization. Every party member getting their own specific items they use will help your rangers fight in top condition more often early on when ammo and gear is scarce. Make sure to also have at least one ranger with a heavy investment into melee as well as a medical specialist. Even though you can get a recruit one early on, it never hurts to end up with multiple people who can revive the party.

Of the skills, I think the only one that seemed completely pointless was Barter. If you just try to sell as much random loot you get from raiders and stuff you'll basically be swimming in cash before long without having a single point in the skill.
