Most of the early missions have physical hacks, how do you do those without entering the building?

Use your RC Jumper.

Spoiler taged just in case (Mission / Solution):
The Mission where you have to get information on New Dawn from their San Fran HQ with Sitara and the protesters outside
/
Get your RC Jumper inside and hack the terminal. Then get Marcus on their front steps and drain the data.

Reading all these positive impressions pushed me to buy the game... Waiting for Steam release now, hope the PC version will perform well.

Gameplay and roaming look very fun, but how's the story ? Are the missions varied ?

Haven't played much story yet (which is rare for me. Shows how good the game world is.), but as far as I can say the side mission aren't as monotone as they used to be in th first one. Also not Ubi Tower grinding

This is what I am enjoying the most of the game. Story and characters.

The game starts really awesome and the characters are really cool, IMO.

It's full of gaming/movie/"nerdy" references that are super cool and I genuinely feel like I'm playing Mr. Robot, the game, but with lighter and more awesome characters.

It's a gang of hacker buddies having fun fighting for what they beleive is right.

Side missiones are also really fun, at least for me. I just finished one really funny one about ATM.

Okay, I'm stuck at this mission for at least an hour. It's one of the first missions. You have to hack a laptop and stay close to it. How the fuck am I supposed to do this the stealthy way? Blah blah blah, after initiating the hack, at around 20% everyone is aware of the hack and storms every spot where I could stay and try to download the data in peace. No chance.

So...I guess it may be longer to fix this thing than we expected :(

After posting on Reddit about the 1.06 update which we'd heard was apparently in cert, a Ubisoft representative replied last night:

Not that I want to throw cold water on anything, but that isn't accurate. We're still investigating the issue and working on a fix. I promise we'll give updates with as much information as possible as soon as we can confirm something.

A little bit more information maybe?

Is it the one in the New Dawn HQ maybe? The one with the protesters outside I mean?

No. Aiden just didn't want to join them because all the cool vigilantes are outcast loners, and being part of something would have compromised that. I think they also couldn't see eye to eye on that whole hypocrisy issue where Aiden got his niece killed and put the rest of his family in danger and then spent the whole game shifting the blame.

There is a spittoon next to my desk for those occasions when I have to reflexively spit because I've mentioned Aiden and his iconic hat and his stupid fucking layers and his insistence that if there's a murder in progress it's best to let it happen so you can be an even bigger hero for taking down an actual murderer and his power grid tampering that probably heroically murdered people in hospitals and his entire fucking edgelord manchild self.

Fuck you Aiden!

Thanks so much for this post

I, too, shall purchase a Pearce-spitoon

Ok, so I should get that gang perk after all then... I thought it'd just bring more chaos and get myself in danger, but that won't be a factor if I'm far enough from the action. I'll try that and buy the drone.

I'm looking forward to try out completing missions without me ever getting in... that's very interesting.

Patch 1.06 should be in cert right now. It will enable online and the main cause of unplayable frame rates seems to have been resolved. :)

Doesn't seem your info is true big_z :(

Getting the drone should be your biggest priority, because it's usefulness outweighs anything else you might want to purchase. I can't imagine playing the game without it.

If you don't have enough money, remember that there's plenty lying around town, marked with the blue square and the dollar sign. There are two types though: the smaller symbol indicates a lower amount of money [usually around 4k], the bigger symbol can be up to 19,000 dollar but is usually better guarded.

..did you look up his later posts in this thread? He specifically said several times that unfortunately the patch is TBD.

Oops - sorry I didn't catch it! Fingers crossed the team can have it resolved and pushed out by the weekend.

Man, fuck Aiden lmao

I think he is the biggest sociopath of any game character... And you can play as Hitman.

So, is the driving really as bad as in the first one? I couldn't play through the first one because of the weird driving, so if that's the case it's gonna be a dealbreaker for me at least.l

After struggling all night trying to finish that first police chase , I try again today and find a bridge straight away and it's finished in 5 mins.

The police really are a little too aggressive imo . Playing on hard so I expect some challenge but they spawn out of nowhere :)

Being chased by the cops in this is not fun at all. Just had to steal a specific car for a mission cops were on me starting at level with felony (equivalent of level 2 wanted in GTA).

You cannot hack helicopters from a car and they are damn hear impossible to shake.
Cops are super aggressive drivers.
Insane numbers or pursuers.
Lots of very solid obstacles strategically placed to make escape harder.

The only upside is you are less likely to be gunned down if you exit the car at any time compared to the cops in GTA.

I think it's excellent, but then I didn't play the first one. The cars stick to the road really well, no skittishness, and handbrake turns and drifting are easy and fun. Not particularly realistic, but I enjoy it a lot. I feel like I can weave through traffic at top speed like a champ.

In fact, I'm enjoying this whole game a lot. It's really grown on me in the last few hours. I think the developers did the game a disservice by locking away the better equipment and abilities, because once you have them the gameplay just feels great. With all the options you have at your disposal it reminds me a lot of Metal Gear Solid V, only with a hacking flavour. I love throwing out the Quadcopter to survey an area, mark all the bad guys and find any hidden entrances, then look around for anything I can climb or hack to sneak my way through. I don't think the actual stealth mechanics are as good as MGSV's, but they're perfectly competent.

And I'm surprised at how much I like the characters and their interactions. The story itself is kind of baffling; I feel like I've been thrown into the middle of things with nowhere near enough information, but maybe they're going to fill things in over time. I still have no idea what the main bad guy with the beard and man bun's name is.

EDIT - Oh, and I absolutely love being able to remotely hack and drive cars. Anyone in my way on the when I'm driving I can just send careering off the road, or I can use cars as distractions, and some of the puzzles that require you to slam cars into breakable objects to get them out of the way are great. It's something I feel like I'll sorely miss in every other modern day open world game from here on out.

It's somewhat weird.

Cars are great fun in the low speed brackets, but get really squirmy and your rear end is all over the place at high speeds.

With motorcycles it's the other way around. Static and difficult to handle in low speeds, highly enjoyable in high speeds.

I will, thanks.

So if you get the drone, you can cancel reinforcement calls after they've been made? Someone mentioned that.

(I'm at work and I keep thinking about all the stuff I want to do this evening hah)

i am absolutely loving this. even though i fucking struggle with stealth in games. in pretty much every mission so far ive ended up having to kill/shock everyone with my gun.

any perks i should be aiming for first?

These are the worst driving controls ever made. How is this even possible....does Ubisoft test their games?

edit: And the radio music s the worst ever in an OW game. I don't listen to the music at all in WD2.

Are there more side activities aside from frustrating races?

Honestly don't have any issue with the driving. It's twitchy and arcadey but fun for me.

Radio music however does suck, alot.

The radio selection stomps WD1. Only listen to electronica and rap stations though.

Needs a sound mixer though. I like my radio station to be way louder than the rest of the game.

So my fiancée tried playing some co op with me, even though she never played any stealth games or Ubisoft games much. It was pretty insane how poorly we did lol.
https://youtu.be/nL9aUo_L_nE
However, the co op in this game is so much better. Side quests are still there, dynamic open world events still happen and the co op missions just lend themselves to a lot of fun and creativity. Also, 5 star Cops haven't been this relentless since GTA 3 it feels.

Ran into what is probably the greatest vehicle in the game:

The Monster King

And this happened soon after the end of that video:

How do you jump? I've found numerous collectibles or whatever they are and the parkour move just doesn't work to get you over a gap.

I know I've just set myself up for a metroid moment here so go easy if it's like the square/X button or something. I'm not well atm hah.

You can't jump, unless I'm completely stupid.

No jump button. If there's a jump that seems required, use the RC Jumper maybe? That can do it obviously.

How much is the drone and do you ever get it for free?

It's sixty something, I don't know if you get it for free, but you shouldn't be waiting that long even if you do.

I'm glad they changed it. I've played most AC games and this was one of my biggest gripes. I'd be running around the city and cut a corner then run up the side of the wall. It was even worse if I was being chased.
Yea but this isn't AC, you can't wall climb here so that will not happen.

The only times you need R2 is when you have to vault over something so either you have something in front of you to vault over or you don't..when you do you will press R2 to vault over if you are running anyways so it'd the same thing. Meaning one button for running and parkour would work.

I put the cops on a gang member just to get $4000. One cop was killed in action while the other one called for backup. More police came in and killed all remaining gang members, while I drove my RC into the location to pick up the cash.

Good stuff!

How do you get one of the bags hidden under your bases staritcase , got one either jumper but the other is behind a cent.

Also the one behind your base in the alleyway that looks like it's under boxes .

Bloody hell! Of course! This cold is making me stupid. Cheers.

Edit: Does anyone else feel a bit overly naughty when you have Marcus steal vehicles? He just doesn't come across as a car thief to me. I tend to find myself just walking everywhere to stay in the character I think he is. Or find a a bicycle maybe.
