I think I'm wrong on that one. I assumed it was the shadows thing but apparently that's been in the game all along? It's a little jarring but IFSS still looks fantastic.

So it looks like no matter what video you look at, there was a pretty massive lighting downgrade. Also seems like some particle effects and shadows were tweaked down quite a bit.

Hope the PC version has options to turn these back on, but I fear that wont be the case.

the more and more I see new GIF's the more I feel like there are now only two times of day.....day and night and the awesome light period that was in the 2012 version will never be shown.


I wonder if they removed the 24 hour cycle from the game......and thats why lighting seems baked.

There seemed to be a few different times of day in the story trailer, but it's possible that they've removed the realtime aspect, and done it Mafia II style (where it would switch to a different time of day after a cutscene). That would certainly be a shame. You'd think they'd make sure the 'awesome light period' was happening most of the time if that was the case though...

Killzone 2 and Motorstorm were actual CG trailers. It was plain as day. They actually DID attempt to lie about those, though, as you say.

With Watch Dogs, I'm pretty positive that was not the case. What they showed in 2012 is what they were working on at the time. That was their ambition. They didn't create that to fool people. It wasn't just a CG trailer. It wasn't malicious intent either.

Something went wrong during development and now we have this situation. It sucks and is disappointing but it doesn't imply that they were actually engaging in wrongdoing back in 2012.

come on now, are you new to ubisoft trailers? you never saw the far cry 3 footage ? you think they do this by accident?
they even admitted with far cry 3 that they over polished the and designed the shit out of the demo area and that they can't do that for the full game (what the excuse was for the downgrade of the same area in the pc version we'll never know)


they do this almost every time and you still play it off as innocense on their part... how naive can you get
