I think it's insanely cheesy, and full of way too many overly sentimental and disgustingly cute moments, but for some reason I enjoyed it when I watched it a couple of weeks ago. :/ Keira Knightley is so pretty.

Just one of those flicks that makes me feel good inside. I always end up smiling when I watch it.

Sums up my feelings about this movie exactly, except for the part about Keira Knightley.

I really really dislike this film. I would rather read about a catfight on this board between Lemurs and GamerDiva than have to stomach that film again.

I've been forced to see it far too many times. :( Damn women. The worst part is when chicks start slamming the asshole guy and how they hate that part and his character. I always inevitably say, " well... y'know, I like him." That's when all hell breaks loose.

I saw this when it came in theaters, and I really enjoyed it, aside from the one plot line where the unattractive British guy goes to America...

Picked it up over the summer used from Blockbuster, nice little film, thought it was well executed. I'm a sucker for stuff such as this (Four Weddings, About a Boy, etc.).

Sap Sap Sap!

But I enjoyed the sappiness of it all. You've all covered the reasons why this movie works so well.

It just makes you feel good to watch it.

This movie is overly sappy and totally simple (as others have said), but I fucking love it. I could watch it a million times and it would never get old and it always makes me feel good inside.

Keira Knightley is fucking great and I want to marry her or at least become her masochistic love slave.

No hot chick could have saved this movie. Did they make it this bad on purpose? If I saw it in a theatre I would have left.

I thought the version in the movie was done by Girls Aloud?

Amazing song tho either way.

That movie upsets me.

First of all, who in their right mind would tell their best friend's wife that he was in love with her and think it a good idea? I think that part upset me the most.

I enjoyed it, but found a few of the stories depressing. I don't understand why the one woman gave up her chance at love because of her brother. It seemed relatively clear that the male interest was ok with the interruptions. When he said what he said on the bed about life being full of interruptions and you having to steal and appreciate the moments you get, I almost died on the spot, it was so romantic and so true. That she gave up so easily was sad, extremely sad.

As for the best friend/wife love triangle that was also sad. Her husband seemed like a dolt who barely knew she existed and the friend really seemed to care for her. I hated how that ended.

You have no clue what makes a bad movie.
This movie was sappy, predictable, funny, and fun.
A movie like Vanity Fair is just bad.

To be fair, they never really expanded the role of the husband beyond the "I'm just here to make the story work" device.

Very true, however the scenes he was in didn't cast him in the best light. It wouldn't have felt as tragic and senseless if it had seemed like her husband actually gave a rats ass about her.

Hey I saw Angel Eyes.

I SUPPOSE if you're in the right mood (and the right person) then you could maybe enjoy L.A. but I couldn't wait for it to end. I thought everything about it was poorly done. From what I remember there basically was no ending.

I've seen a few chick flicks in my day, some good some bad. Maybe I'm not sensitive enough to appreciate it but I really can't see anyone enjoying this thing. We beat the shit out of the guy who suggested it.

Enjoyed the film immensely and thought the cast was charming all the way through. The performances are very well handled and funny. Of course with the amount of plot lines to cram in, many characters were left with one note ideas and some I believe even left unfinished. Yes, it contains all the traditional Romantic Comedy elements from the warm surroundings, soundtrack, children concert climax and Rowan Atkinson, but its all mastered well. The director clearly has experience in this mindset and its not as disposable as I would have thought. A bit deliberately saucy here and there (mock porn scenes) but very fun. Worth watching I'd say.

Of all the sappy cute romantic movies, this movie rates pretty low amongst them. I always appreciate movies of this type, but I just wasn't feeling the multi-narratives.

I dunno why they kept calling that one chick fat. She wasn't Keira Knightley skinny, but come on. I thought she was kinda cute.

Yeah, she was really cute... I dunno. But, love the move. Sappy, but it's really good to watch.
