Developed by WayForward Technologies, the RetroRealms games let players traverse worlds and enter different realms to overcome challenges inspired by Halloween and Ash vs Evil Dead. Combining retro visuals with modern mechanics, players venture between two overlapping worlds, with the ability to enter the nightmare infested Dark Realm at any time, which unlocks shortcuts, hidden pathways, and rewards for those brave enough to enter.
In RetroRealms: Halloween, “Players take control of Michael Myers and other characters from the original 1978 film to slash through familiar settings and overcome the ultimate evil that has descended upon our world.”
And in RetroRealms: Ash vs. Evil Dead, “Fans can play as Ash Williams to battle through iconic locations inspired by the STARZ original series while fighting Deadites and other familiar characters from the hit show.”
“The two RetroRealms titles, each sold separately, connect with each other to create an ever-expanding universe of popular characters that unlocks additional gameplay. The games can be played individually or, if both titles are purchased, new features can be accessed including taking characters from one game into the other. Players can also commemorate their achievements within the RetroRealms Arcade, a lovingly realized 3D gateway and tribute to arcade gaming that connects both titles, providing a single way to access every game in the series and to redeem in-game tickets, view leaderboards, and find other exclusive content.”

So is RetroRealms gonna be a new series like Digital Eclipse's Gold Master Series where they license a bunch of recognizable IP's to make into 16 bit platformers?

Hopefully they can finish Ash vs Evil Dead story in some form (likely not live action, but either in this game or in the purported animated series).

Will definitely get. Perfect release for the Halloween season. I am usually critical of WayForward's visuals but Im OK with these.

Will pre-purchase on Switch, for the bonuses, then pick up physical eventually.

EDIT- Shit. Today's the 18th 😆
EDITS- And honestly, I was expecting $25 for both of them. Will wait for a sale.

No matter I look at it, it's just bad pricing. The physical deluxe edition might be good if you're a Halloween fan for the Michael Myers stuff but the digital version is awful. $50 for everything (until next month then it's $60) is a tough sale for 2 side scrolling pixel art games and 2 extra characters. And $25 for one game but none of other 3 characters is even worse. At minimum Laurie and Kelly should've been included with their respective franchise game instead of day 1 DLC.

And I'm still salty at WayForward about RCG2.

I'm guessing the licensing cost made them go with this pricing, but still a short sighted move; there's no way these should've been more than 15 individually 50 for both is ridiculous.

I really think it’s the Halloween and Evil Dead names in October that brought the price tag up.

People on the Steam forums are saying you can beat the games in under 2 hrs and get a refund. That's not gonna be good for business.

Same overpriced WayForward releases as always. Like Contra, or Rival City Girls. I think the double pack of that is like $100.
