Will you buy the next Xbox hardware?

Jiz is saying it's native in the article, at least.

What we know: The next-gen Xbox from Microsoft will be a curated Windows gaming PC, complete with your full native console library

And you believe that? They couldn't even keep the BC program going for the series consoles. Cloud is how they'll avoid licensing issues, and you'll have to pay for it.

Unless their wrappers are incredible, I can't see this happening, at all. Putting current Xbox hardware inside will make it even more priced out of the already very expensive and niche market that is pre-build PCs from big brands.

Maybe an Xenia like emulator for 360 games that most people won't care for, and Windows versions of your Series games.

It's a maybe from me. If it is priced comparable to an equal performing PC and it looks good. Yes. If it is over priced or looks like ass. No. Bonus would be the ability to install Linux and dual boot.

I need to see this thing, Next gen is gonna be weird. I mean. Is this even a Gen if its just a PC. I dont think I will be purchasing one of these unless its somehow slick as fuck and is a hell of a lot cheaper than buying separate bits.

We know about the Xbox Chip a few weeks back. This just confirms it. The Xbox Chip allows BC without legal issues, but with everything else being Windows including future titles. There will not be Nexbox games at all, all future Nextbox games are PC games.

As others have mentioned, this is actually what Bill Gate wanted from the beginning (minus the xbox chip). The Xbox team just decided back then that normal Windows would be too much bloat and will also increase costs. So now Bill Gates finally got what he asked for.

as long as plays your entire library and is not a desktop windows experience ..then its okay.. if you constantly get dreaded windows popups then it can fuck off.

No online fee so sounds nice. Could be killer if price is lower than custom pc. But I would prefer dual boot to xbox os, so I don't have deal with pc cheaters

Furthermore, thanks to new silicon from AMD (already approved all the way up to CFO Amy Hood and CEO Satya Nadella), the new Xbox will also run all games currently available on the Xbox Series X|S library. This means all the OG Xbox back compatible games, all the Xbox 360 back compatible games, all the Xbox One back compatible games, and all the current and future Xbox Series X|S games. These games will run natively on the new Xbox, and launch seamlessly via the Xbox launcher's library.
Too good to be true. I expect it to be just a Windows 'console'.

Doesn't even make sense. GTA on PS5 will be the same as the one on Xbox. At most, you'll have pro enhancements but that's not "next gen." It's the same gen.
Jesus. We're talking Magnus here. In a Magnus thread. Not current gen Xbox. Next gen Xbox. Games releases in different generations. Next generation GTA VI =/= current gen GTA VI. Get it now?

The 30% profit margin mandate basically KILLS that stone dead. You will take your above average PC price and like it. Until the leak about the profit margin, there was a small chance of it being less than $1000. With the profit mandate the odds is now zero.

I genuinely don't know what you're talking about. Will they have ceded GTA 7 until it hits PC? Yes. GTA 6 will be on Xbox and PS5 and be identical except for pro enhancements, if they do any. That same version would be playable on Magnus through BC. You don't have to reply, I really don't know what you're even talking about. I don't care that much, you can have the last word if you want.

Where the Xbox console will differ from a traditional Windows PC is that it will feel like a traditional Xbox console out of the box. The onboarding experience will be similar to what you get today on console, and if you choose, you can remain fully inside the Xbox ecosystem, never touching Windows itself. Exiting out to Windows will be for those who want to access games traditionally not available on Xbox, including PlayStation games on Steam, mouse and keyboard-first games like League of Legends, or even classic games from GOG and the like

A console-shaped box; with closed hardware to create a game optimization profile ; that lets you play the largest possible game catalog while maintaining genuine features (like BC with previous Xbox consoles, Quick Resume, etc.) and console services, and with enough power to play well for an entire generation and complete freedom...

If It is like this
Where do I sign?

PS. Like everything, we'll have to see the final result, price, performance... but the product idea is much better than a traditional Xbox console. It's certainly a safer product than one whose catalog depends on sales.

And that is a problem how exactly? Streamlined experience via dedicated overlay for the masses, endless compatibility and modding potential for people used to PC. Also fuck paying for MP.
No problem — it's actually a good thing, to be honest. I just find it funny how Windows Central tries to present the news as if it were some kind of innovative move by Xbox, when in fact all of this already exists on PC.

I don't think it's emulation.
Native would be even better then

Just in time when everybody's abandoning W11 for all the bullshitt they pull in favor of Linux. They really think we're all stupid. Like if you're dangling an Xbox themed UI layer over W11, we'll think it somehow isn't W11 anymore and Copilot stopped spying on you.
That's the point I believe, not, only to diminish the appeal of something like Steam OS/Linux but to try to curb stomp anybody else in the future who thinks they can make an operating system that will compete with Windows. You can have Steam, Epic, GOG, just don't leave Windows, ever. If they can get this to appeal to a more casual console crowd, get your desktop productivity and gaming done in one ultimate package they may be onto to something. It's a long-term play for complete dominance. All they really need to do is just keep Windows alive at this point. The rest doesn't really matter to them as much.

*Funny side note: Microsoft killing Windows 10 is actually making the sales of Apple computers boom at the moment.

"no multiplayer paywall" Well there it is, what I was speculating on the other day about how it would be difficult to implement a MP paywall on a hybrid device.

Definitely makes it more attractive imo.

Already being labelled as emulation when we know the Silicone has Xbox hardware in it.

I need to see this thing as I am intrigued how they make it work. So, it doesnt require any sub to play online at all?

Next Gen Xbox doesn't exist....

PERIOD

MS is going to sell a PC with a chip inside to do retrograming from previous Xbox consoles

Thanks not an Xbox. Xbox is a console.

PCs don't have a multiplayer paywall.
